Hey!

Okay, so...I've never had this situation come up before, but I figure some of you who have sponsored folks have...

I was thinking about paying for my friend to come. If I do, I would be paying for the items on that RSP. I know they like people to check-in in person, with ID. Would it be an issue to pay with my credit card, in my name, even though the registration is in hers? Is setting all that up problematic, or is it pretty straight forward and easy?

Thanks!

I've sponsored people for several events and it always has been extremely straightforward and super easy. I've always registered for the event for myself, as though I was going. This means that I put the event ticket on my credit card, retained full control of the RSP, and when it came time for Disney to charge the RSP items, they charged my card.

However, in order to switch the registration from my name to my sponsor's name (and I'm very well-aware of Disney's policy of checking in event guests), I simply called event services and requested a proxy form. I think there's even an established time frame in which to transfer ticket names from one guest to another. It has been a few years, but I think I might have filled it out and faxed it back and the registration was switched from my name to my sponsor - however the payment arrangements remained established on my credit card.

I hope this helps. If you have any problems, call event services. I've always found them extremely helpful in sorting out problems like this.

Thanks for the response! But it might work a bit different for me, as I'm already registered and am going myself. So I don't know that they'd allow that...

I'm just taking her along and paying for her, as well. Just not sure if payment has to be in her name...

I am sponsoring someone for the September event. I put the information/registration in his name (with his address) but the email address is mine and I control the RSP.

Disney took my credit card information and charged it on my credit card, even though the event is in his name.

As soon as we get the RSP and I confirm payment with my credit card, he will get the details of what to pick up, etc.

Okay, cool...so they're not picky about the credit card name matching the ID of the person. That's what I needed to know! Thanks!

Yup! I think as long as Disney gets money, Disney doesn't care who it comes from

What bookhugger said.

Also, if you have a second credit card and think there might be an issue, I suggest you use the second credit card for your friend's merchandise/RSP and not the same one that you used for your merchandise/RSP.
