Imagination Gala Event Newbie Chat

Is the Imagination Gala your first pin event? Your first WDW pin event? Or maybe even your first trip to WDW? If so, it's likely that you're experiencing a mix of excitement at the prospect of meeting new people, putting faces to names, trading for shiny pieces of metal and nervous apprehension at the unknown, unexpected, and worry about whether your enjoyment will be dampened by wandering around like a lost puppy.

This chat will be the opportunity for you to have your questions about the WDW event asked and answered so you can attend your first event with an idea of what to expect. The scope of the chat is intended to cover pre-registration, event, and commuting to/from the event, although if time permits, I will discuss WDW itself (for those who never have been). Don't be afraid to ask any (relevant) questions you may have; remember the only silly question is the one you didn't ask and the idea of this chat is to try to make first time event attendees feel more comfortable when they walk through the building doors the first time.

I will be hosting this chat on Saturday, 23rd August at 3.00 pm PST, 6.00 pm EST, 11.00 pm GMT. I apologize if the time doesn't work for everyone; I tried to figure out a time that I thought would work for as many as possible, but still wouldn't be too late for our UK members. I hope to see you in chat - and in person in Florida!

If you are asking about tables at the event...
In the past, there have been tables at the Thursday merchandise pickup. Space gets a bit limited so they often require each person to only use the space directly in front of their chair.
Friday and Saturday, there have been tables in the back of the event area for trading.

I don't know if it'll be possible to post a chat transcript afterward, but I will try. I think a lot of it will depend upon how quickly the pace of the chat progresses. If someone else in chat has the capability to capture and post the transcript, he/she would be more than welcome to do so.

However, regardless of whether or not there is a chat transcript, I'll also start a thread where first time event attendees can post questions about pre-registration, the event, and WDW in general (if they've never gone). I'll open this thread after the chat, both so members who couldn't participate in the chat still can have their questions answered and allow those who participated to expand upon topics that might have been curtailed or omitted from the live chat.

Since DPF back is up, I'm planning on hosting this chat as scheduled ... unless everyone thinks I should reschedule it for another day?
