It pisses me off that a lot of people bought an extra Maleficent or Blue Aurora to trade.. SO mad...

There was this woman who blatantly said: I bought a maleficent to trade for a LE frozen doll.
A lot of people bought a blue aurora only to trade her for another doll. It angers me a lot!

Why?

I mean, I understand anger at re-sellers. But trading is sort of part of the hobby? Like, how else are people supposed to get the earlier releases that they missed (except paying really high-end prices).

Example:

I was in the mountains of Vermont for Belle and Beast, so I missed out on them completely. But my husband and I were in Times Square for Ariel and Eric, so we could enter the raffle. There were only about 25 people there for the raffle, and that store seemed to have a ton (as in, it seemed pretty everyone got one). So we took home two. Today, in line, I hooked up with someone who had an extra Belle and Beast, and wanted Ariel and Eric. So basically, we were both able to get ours for cost because we're swapping.

So sorry, but I refuse to feel guilty about buying something that I think might help me to save money in the future...especially when we're all helping each other out.

Blue Aurora will never be worth a Frozen doll... Why don't people just save their $ and buy the dolls they actually want and leave the new ones to people who actually want them?!

I agree, "collectors" who buy to trade, only hurt other collectors who may actually want the dolls, and then get upset when no one will trade them a newly released doll for an older "higher" valued one. Then the rest of us end up scrambling to find them with these same people who are trying to buy a second set online to resell after they have already gotten a set in store.

Because if you trade, you can get the dolls you missed out on for cost, but when you "save up and buy them", you're buying at least double, if not more.

That lady might have been delusional that she could get a Frozen doll for Maleficent (or maybe not, I've made some great pin trades before), but it doesn't mean trading is a bad thing. Who knows, maybe I'll be sick for an upcoming release, and a Sleeping Beauty fan will go to THAT release, and BAM- instant swap. That safety net is why I like trading...

Swapping Imo isn't bad, I guess Its frustrating for lordofanime because he/she knows that nobody would most likely not trade a frozen doll for a sleeping beauty doll. Oh well, I would trade if I had a doll I didn't want.

Fortunately I was able to win the raffle today, and I'm trying for Blue Aurora tonight. I absolutely HATE the scalpers that show up and steal all the dolls. There was a 12 year-old girl in the raffle who wasn't called and I was this close to giving her my doll (like she takes my spot when my name was called) because I felt so bad. This really loud obnoxious woman was yelling and hollering whenever someone's name was called. She brought EIGHT people for the raffle and there were 13 dolls. she literally said out loud to everyone: "Hey, I have 4 kids. Gotta make money somehow!" while that little girl didn't get her doll. Luckily not all 8 won. I'm so pissed off, there are people who truly want these dolls and then there are selfish people who only care about profit.

My main problem is scalpers. At least with trading, its collectors trading with collectors for the most part. Its better than putting the doll on eBay for double and sometimes even triple the retail price. I just wish the Disney Store would ban people who gloat and brag about buying dolls just to re-sell them later that day from buying any of their limited edition items, but I know they can't do that sadly. If I was a cast member, it would be REALLY hard for me not to go off on them though, and I am usually a very laid back person.

The reason why it pisses me off is because they are preventing another collector from purchasing the doll.
I understand that it's awesome if you're doing it to swap. but when you have no intention of wanting a doll and deprive someone from buying just because you want to trade it later on, pisses me off.
Sure, you can like it. And there's nothing wrong with that. And I am happy that you managed to get Belle. But what are the chances that everyone has the same mindset as you and the other collector?
Most of these people thought: I don't want this doll, I know that someone else will desperately want this doll, so I'm gonna buy it for a trade. *looks behind at the other people who couldn't buy the doll* Hmph Losers should have come 10 minutes earlier.

When am I ok with it? Only when everyone who wanted the doll got a chance to get it.
I know I might sound mean, but someone has to say it. Just because you missed out on the Frozen dolls or the past dolls doesn't give you the right to deprive a collector from buying the new ones.
In the case of the pink Aurora, that is understandable as you might have wanted to get the blue one but didn't think it would come out.

My best friend's all time favorite character is Mother Gothel, and she desperately wants to own the doll. I refuse to buy an entire set of Sleeping Beauty dolls to trade for a Gothel one because someone else, who actually wants the dolls might have missed getting them cause of me.

See where I'm coming from? I'm just trying to be fair to everyone. There are cases when it's fine. But when a person brings 8 people to a raffle for 12 dolls and they all get called for 8 of the dolls, all the other people, aside from the other 4 will not get a chance to buy them.

When I first found out about the limited edition dolls back in March, I went to the Disney store to see the Frozen march dolls in person and was asking the cast members more info about them and vividly remember the manager told me to just check eBay so I honestly don't think Disney cares whom the dolls are sold to, as long as they are sold.

Well, they care enough to limit the dolls to one per guest.
I spoke to a CS rep today and they told me they're gonna be evaluating people as soon as they order stuff. One per person. They are more strict than UK, which is one per person, two per household. I even asked her, what if they're under 2 names but same address? She told me that it would get cancelled.

Well maybe it's just the store I went to then; that definitely put me off a bit as a new collector. I mean don't get me wrong, I'd like to think that they care but at the same time they're still a company trying to make profit. :\

Is that one per guest thing new btw? I somehow recall people were making multiple purchases with different accounts/name delivered to the same address from lurking around in the past - there was a bit of drama surrounding that in past releases. If it is new then maybe Disney is trying to stricken up the rules to ensure (almost) everyone gets a piece.

It used to be one per order. So as long as you only have item per order, it's fine.

How quickly can they evaluate it though? Like tonight, if someone tries to make multiple orders will it be cancelled fast enough to restock while the dolls are still posted on the site? I wasn't early enough to get maleficent or blue aurora in the store today and feeling nervous about the release tonight.......

Yeah that is true. I couldn't afford blue dress Aurora, so I am gonna have to get her later on the secondary market and I know I am gonna have to pay a lot more than what she cost at the store. It sucks, and I wish Disney could ban certain buyers, but I know that is unrealistic. As for your point on trading, I can see where you are coming from. I personally still would be more angry at the fact that people are buying just to re-sell the items that same day on eBay, but buying a doll simply to trade for an Elsa or Anna doll, which is completely unrealistic given their value, is still ridiculous.

Based on ebay prices the only Frozen doll one could get by trading an Aurora would maybe be a Snow Gear Anna. No one in their right mind would trade Coronation Anna or Snow Queen Elsa for an Aurora, and Coronation Elsa would still be a bad trade for an Aurora.

I was very pleased to be fifth in line at my store today, and I managed to get blue Aurora and Phillip. I took a Maleficent card but ended up returning it at the register - between the other two and Cinderella I just couldn't bring myself to splurge when November is such a big release month for video games for me :/ That, and hopefully someone else was able to get her.

I definitely like Phillip more than LE Eric - something about him seems right, and that's pretty rare for male dolls (for me at least!). Good luck to everyone tonight! I'm one less person ordering online so I'll send pixie dust your way
