DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
POC is a term that refers to "person of color," in internet lingo. I personally find the term mildly offensive but many chose to use it quite vehemently.

I also absolutely hate to say it, but Tiana, Pocahontas, and Mulan do sell poorly compared to other princesses in terms of merchandise over the price point of $20. The classic dolls and animators sell decently in store. But costumes, accessories, and LE dolls (as we saw with the couples) go on clearance. To Disney, I am sure it looks as if these characters are unpopular. In their eyes I would assume they see it as, "if we cannot sell these characters out in a set, how can we hope to sell them in individual release?". To further explain, I mean that the couples are the second wave of a set of ten, which many people attempted to complete. Why did they not sell out? Simply because the customers did not buy them. This is also why they went on clearance. This makes less money for Disney, and Disney is a corporation. They care about money quite a bit, as they need to to stay open. (Of course Disney has a lot of money, but it also costs a lot to run such a massive corporation. They must be cautious and attentive to success at all times!). The ONLY solution to our lack of "POC" merchandise would be for us, the consumer, to buy it when it first comes out. This shows our excitement for their products and that we would be willing to buy a 17" doll of these characters. If they were not for you or you could not afford them, that is your right. But unfortunately Disney sees the numbers.

"Person of Color" is NOT internet lingo. The term was created in the 1960s by a black woman so people would stop calling POC "colored people," which is an incredibly racist and offensive term. "Colored People" or "Colored" was created by white people during segregation to exclude POC from white establishments, water fountains, etc. "People of Color" or "Person of Color" was created by a black woman during the Civil Rights Movement.

The costumes for white princesses also go on sale. Don't kid yourself in thinking they do not. They go on sale online and in the store. The costumes for tinkerbell, Arurora, Ariel, and Belle can always be found on clearance at my store. The costumes for Tiana and Jasmine never are. It is rare to find a dress for Mulan and Pocahontas so they sell out pretty fast. As for the designer couples, Jasmine/Aladdin were the first dolls in the line up to sell out in under 3 days. They were the first popular dolls in the line up. Snow White/Prince and Rapunzel/Flynn hung around online for 2 weeks before finally selling out. In last years designer couple release, Cinderella/Charming were released the same day as the 17" dolls. People were picking them all up together. It was also the diamond edition of Sleeping Beauty, Aurora/Phillip had a lot of hype around them and were the face of the promotional materials. Yes, the other three dolls went on sale but lets not even pretend Disney did anything to promote these dolls. When the original line of designer dolls came out, ALL the dolls sold well and for nearly half the price of the designer couples. A lot of people were not thrilled with the couples. Disney saved the least popular dolls for a non-expo year, that is all on them they didn't sell as well. People outside of avid collectors did not know about these dolls. Also, the 17" dolls sell better than the designer dolls. A Pocahontas and Mulan 17" doll would sell out quickly, especially if they did a lower edition size.

Anyone else get a tracking number this past weekend for their Frozen doll and it has yet to move? I got Elsa today (yay), and when I went to track Anna she is still in that pre-shipment status with not a single scan or action. Strange.

Mine keep getting delayed because of weather >_<

Mine still show tomorrow but there hasn't been a single tracking update since the 10th. Which isn't too surprising, probably on a truck still, but I'm worried it means the date will slip. :< My aunt helped me afford the dolls and I wanted to go see her this weekend and bring them to show her.

Oh well now we've had the announcement Disney are making Frozen 2 I think its a given we'll get more LE dolls.

Let the madness continue!

I know some don't like the pearlescent skin on these new dolls...I was not sure how I would feel about them myself. But after now seeing Elsa in person...it is actually quite beautiful. It's like the light of a a nordic sunset is his hitting her face. Does Anna have the same blue tint or is it a different shade? Guess I will find out when Disney SHIPS IT! Come on people...

Anna's skin sheen is different than Elsa's, more like Fawn's, if you have her. I love your nordic sunset interpretation for Elsa, plus it's fitting with the purple sunset in the window panes behind her.

Is there a source you can provide?

It is already a foregone conclusion that at least 2 more Frozen LE dolls wearing the spring theme outfits will eventually be released whether or not Frozen 2 is made official.

I just saw that my Kristoff and Anna have been delivered, I'm soooo excited to see them! They will be my first Frozen dolls, but I can't leave work for 2 1/2 more hours!!!! :anxious:

I mean, I expected Frozen 2 but….
Well, whoever missed THIS set will certainly have more chances to get more Frozen dolls lol
On an unrelated note, who are some characters outside of animated canon you'd like to see as LE dolls? Since they're doing Cinderella as live action and will probably do Belle (though I will probably pass on her since I don't like Emma Watson).
I for one would LOOOVE to see Katherine from The Newsies. Mary Poppins, too. But those will likely never ever happen haha.

I have gotten the most uncoveted email ever for a collector (I think): a UPS "exception" notice for weather delays on LE Anna. It has been 24 hours since I've gotten the email with no new updates, and now they have left the "scheduled delivery date" blank on the tracking number. :(

I already let UPS know about it and requested a status update, but as I don't have a UPS account that's as much as can be done right now. (sigh) Hope no one else has had to deal with this.

Please keep your ignorance out of this forum.

For the sake of MY ignorance, can you explain what was ignorant about that post? I ask because I couldn't tell. It just sounded like she was answering a question. I don't think she intended to offend, so let's not jump to conclusions.

As for when will Pocahontas and Mulan get a LE doll, it will happen when / if their movie gets the Diamond treatment. So far that's when the dolls have been made. Their movies have only gotten the generic 2-movie combo release. They might get their year yet, now that all the other movies have had Diamond Editions. I'd love to see Mulan. Pocahontas will be beautiful (since her dolls always are), but there's only so much they can do with her outfit.

I actually think ElysionsPrincess was referring to the abbreviation "POC" as an internet term not the phrase "Person of Color" itself. The two posters before her asked what the abbreviation POC meant.

I checked out with all three dolls and my Anna and Kristoff were delivered today (fingers crossed that they are both inside), but Elsa has yet to be given a tracking number and I have received NO blast off email.... I'm a little on the worried side, but they did experience weather issues and customer service told me 7-10 business days (so add 2 days for the bad weather) So, idk....

My Kristoff arrived today ^_^ He looks wonderful in person!
Anna and Elsa both got delayed because of weather though, but they're scheduled to arrive tomorrow!

What the f...? Everyone clearly can see that whites and blacks for example have significant differences from one another. Racism is not realizing aesthetic or biological differences but thinking a certain "race" is superior or inferior to another. Pocahontas and Mulan definitely don't sell too well. Fact. This COULD be because of their ethnicity or "race" and/or maybe because they don't have as much bling/aren't as flashy/colorful as actual princesses, considering they aren't truly royalty like Cinderella or Aurora for example. Belle isn't even very popular! I believe Tiana tops her? As for Jasmine, the movie's focus isn't even exactly on her which could be one reason for her apparently not selling as well? before anyone calls on racism again. Maybe the way she's clothed could be another reason?

I do think if they made 17" dolls of them they would sell GREAT! But the problem is blinging them up well :) Mulan's hanfu isn't really iconic to me... And I wouldn't imagine them doing her in her uniform.

I got my Kristoff and Anna today as well. Kristoff was the biggest pain in the *** to get out. My Elsa is stuck and should be delivered tomorrow.. At least I hope so. Also has anyone gotten badly damaged boxes yet because I haven't heard anyone get one yet.

Is DS still shipping the dolls in the single shipping box? I think I am going to have to order Cinderella tonight instead of going to the store and I am so nervous about ordering online.
