DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
Well I called customer service about my extra Elsa doll, and they said they are working to "investigate" it and locate another Anna, but that they won't know for another 24-48 hours. I'm really doubtful they'll be able to magically find another Anna. If I end up having to get Anna off of eBay, I think they should have to pay me the difference.

Disney isn't very magical with its customer service for limited edition dolls.

I think they should have some extra dolls without COA for replacement. Why couldn't they use these extra dolls to replace? My is Anna is still under custom clearance and I do wish it is the right one.

Don't the dolls themselves actually have the COA number on them somewhere? I don't debox but I think that's why.

COA number is just printed on a piece of paper.
I just remember that I heard from someone saying that DS usually has some spare dolls without COA for lost or replacement. Of course, I haven't seen anyone officially confirms this.

The manufacturer may be able to produce extra dolls to account for the inevitable quality control errors. I think the issue is such: Since each Disneystore LE doll is individually marked with the edition number somewhere on the doll's body, the factory would have to mark the replacements with the same edition number to match that of the COA that originally came with the display box in the customer's possession.

This creates the potential for a duplicate situation to arise because someone out there will have the same numbered doll even if no more COAs are printed.

That is, of course, assuming all 5000 were actually sold to begin with. It's possible there is a small stock never intended to be sold purely to account for the shipping and matching issues we see here.

I think what you said makes more sense than I heard.

Finally, My Elsa got her shipping # just now. I wish they are all whom they should be...

I am so sorry about your problem and hope you can find another Anna. :( I'm a little afraid I might have the same situation whenever my doll (not even confident to say she's Anna now) gets here, since she has also been stuck in TN for days and still has not been updated. I've now heard that 5 people have had the exact same scenario happen and am very very nervous.

Out of curiosity, how much did UPS say your Anna-that-turned-out-to-be-Elsa doll weighed? Anna is supposed to be 5.1 pounds, while Elsa is 5.0. I don't know if UPS weighs the dolls themselves or is provided that number by someone else.

Also, did you call Disney Store Guest Services specifically to report the error? I know for a fact they are out of replacement Elsas, but they might have some Annas left. So not only could you potentially get your Anna, but you could also help someone who needs a replacement Elsa for whatever reason. :)

Assuming they have display dolls for these, those should be the only ones without COAS

If the box is attached with a wrong product label, it is nearly impossible for DS to find out where the extra Anna is. Just wish it is not this case.

Hmmm, My situation is this. I already received Elsa. Anna had a label created on the 9th, yet she has sat in pre-shipment status ever since. When I go to the DS website and look at my order...Anna simply says "shipped" and Elsa says "shipped..." with a tracking number. The tracking number though is Anna's. The DS e-mail I received though said that both dolls had shipped and had the two tracking numbers listed correctly. I could be that too many wrong box complaints started coming in early and they have halted everything and each order is being hand inspected now or something.

Regarding extra dolls - If DS is in the market for dealing with legitimate limited numbered editions, then there would not be extras made. There are "artists proofs" which happen early on before manufacturing that may exist, but making extras for "problem orders" would make the whole thing a farce. A doll getting damaged in shipment or an overlooked huge error would mean "sorry customer, here is your money back, and best of luck to you" Just think of all the fraud with "my doll went missing" and then disney pulling from a stock pile of extras to hand out. You would no longer have a limited numbered edition. That's just my .02 cents

This is precisely the reason why some collectible companies require evidence of completely destroying the original before shipping out replacements. I don't know whether Disney has this kind of policy (probably not), but when I used to collect statues/figures from brands such as Sideshow Collectibles, customer service required video or photo evidence that the defective statue was fully broken beyond possible repair (i.e. me taking a hammer to it a few times over or dropping it from the rooftop onto pavement).

After that, they would just ship out the replacement with the same exact limited edition number of the one I originally had.

I am pretty sure Disney picks up the wrong item (when it's expensive and defective and/or wrong item). They ask you to have the package ready for pickup and the UPS carrier will bring your new item and pick up the other one.

Hello people, I just want to tell a thing it's not about the dolls but about the people here on the topic. I hear so much hate on scalpers, and i hate them too. but you can't just say oh the dolls are sold out in a minute if we keep posting the links here and in public. find it on your own. i've tried to find them as fast as possible just with searching key words. I don't live in a country were a disney store is, so i can't get any inside info. I think it's very rude that some people say: if you really want to get them fast then search for it. i am researching for 2 years now and i can't find out how people get the link that fast. this is why i am extremely thankful for the link fairies. but i hurts me when people say oh if you can't find it on your own you don't work hard enough you don't take the time too search. i don't have anybody that i know who can get the information. and every time i ask someone to help me they ignore me. I did not feel welcome on the forum/topic lately and that's a shame. and it really bothers me.
I don't want to start a fight or anything but i just wanted to write it of because i just did not feel welcome on the forum/topic

For some reason my last order (blue Cindy) has a different VISA number on the "Order History" receipt. I have no idea how that is possible because I used the "Saved Cards" option. I reallyyyyy hope my order won't get cancelled because it still hasn't been charged from my VISA... :(

Has this happened to anyone before?

Disneyfreakingprincess, here's a sincere tip. If you want help from a community, you have to be part
if it. It looks like you only joined a month ago, so chances are people won't trust you to give you links. That has nothing to do with YOU, it has to do with the greed and scamming that has arisen over the past couple years. Many true collectors have had experiences trying to help people only to get burned by a scalper in collector's clothing. Again, nothing to do with you, but some of us have become jaded.

It's a general tip to all that if you join this community--or only contribute to this community--around release time, you look like a scalper or at the very least someone who's only here to take from the community when you need something.

Anyone can say they're a true collector in a forum or at a store, but that's because scammers have no problem lying right to your face if it means turning a profit. Again, not accusing YOU of anything, just explaining what this hobby has come to. I for one don't trust a lot of people when it comes to these dolls and would never share anything on here until it becomes public knowledge.

Quasimodo pretty much summed up the issue perfectly. I am always willing to help anyone out, but we have to be a lot more cautious these days ya know? There were over 200 people on here the night Cinderella went up, and I can promise you that a huge chunk of them were probably scalpers (the guests in particular).

Seconding this. As you can see by my profile I've been here since December 2011, and I can assure you the amount of people viewing this thread has increased dramatically since then. This forum isn't very secret and it's terrible but that's what happens ):

Thanks for explaining about 'extra dolls' and it's very helpful for me.

I complained on the DS Facebook page and they told me to email personal.shoppers@disneystore.com. They replied to me today saying they are sending me another Anna. So I'm hoping it's the right doll

Quasimodo is right.

I have been collecting Limited Edition dolls for years, and I still don't know how to find those links (except for that fake Hans link that everyone had). I didn't bother me in the past because I was always able to get the dolls I wanted, but now low number dolls are basically sold out before they even hit the website...

The dolls showed up for me on the website +-10 mins after the release. So people who had the links have a HUGE advantage compared to people who didn't have the links. I really hope I find the secret one day, because I'm scared for future low number releases. :( I'm still not over the fact the I missed out wedding Cinderella because of this, it's just unfair.

Even with link, you can't be sure you can got the wedding doll since there's only 250 each in US and Europe.
