My wife and I are big Studio Ghibli fans. I was wondering if anyone know if there are Studio Ghibli pins out there?

I quick search on PinPics didnt find anything so I figured time to ask the professionals :)

By Disney here in the states there's only one pin and it's an LE 150 Marquess of the Borrower Arrietty.

The Ghibli Family Muesum though in Japan has a TON. I hope to collect all the soot sprite and Gigi Pins someday!!

There are lots of them, but I don't think they are official Disney pins.

If you search on ebay under "Studio Ghibli pin" you'll come across lots of pins for sale.

Right, I was wondering if there were official disney trading pins.

I figured there wasnt, since to my knowledge Studio Ghibli isnt actually owned by Disney, just distributed in the states.

Ghibli is not Disney, Disney only owns the distribution rights for America, so you won't find many is any Disney Ghibli pins.

There are lots of Ghibli pins though! You can find many on eBay. They are usually around $15-25 a piece shipped fom Asia (Japan or China depending on if the pin is from the factory or a consumer reseller from Japan).

I was lucky enough to find a vender at a fair selling some for only $3 a piece!! Unfortunately I didn't collect pins back then and only bought 2. One is of the white forest tree spirits from Mononoke and the other is of Totoro and the Catbus. I gave that one to my friend.

Sometimes you get lucky and find them at the Anime themed booths at fairs and cons or stores, but your best best is eBay if you want to go out and buy them now.

The pins aren't like modern Disney hard enamel ones in appearance. They are more the older style that have the clear gel coating overtone top.

Also, even if they aren't official Disney trading pins, I've had many offers of Disney pins for my Ghibli ones. I think a lot of pin people are pin people, not just Disney, and ultimately will make trades for what they like :) I know several people who also trade Universal and Warner Brothers pins (Harry Potter) within and without that fandom for things like Disney. I just love pins! And collectibles XD haha. But there is a market if that is a worry you have :)

There are lots of non-Disney pins out there. Lots of sports pins. As you mentioned, Universal Studios sells pins as well as Knott's Berry Farm (including Peanuts!) and I believe Hershey Park does too. The WB store in Burbank sells pins for Harry Potter, Looney Tunes, DC comics and tv shows. Some of those can be found at Six Flags parks too. Obviously I love pins too lol!

Actually the new Museum pins are like the Disney pins. SOME have the soft enmael coating but others don't!

Oooo great to know! I love both types for different reasons, but I think the hard enaMel holds up better over time. The clear gel tends to yellow with age in my experience. Really excited to get some hard enamel Ghibli pin options!

I don't think I ever thought to stock up on them as traders!

If we go back to Tokyo next year, I'll see if I can pick up a bunch from the Ghibli museum. There's also a little Ghibli store in the mall attached to the hotel we stay at, they probably have some, too.

So here's a question: which movies would you want pins for? :)

These howls moving castle pins are some of my favorite Pins. I have an awesome princess mononoke pin too. I'm sure that they are not official or parks tradeable, as mentioned, but I love them and I love seeing someone else interested in them. I keep hoping some official ones will be released, but I still collect in the meantime.

I am going to the museum in Japan in October! Do you think I should buy some pins to bring back and trade? I didn't even think about it. I was focused solely on Japan Disney pins.

super cute! I love studio ghibli! i always go snoop in japan in epcot and find things.. but never actually pins. like I got a cute charm that had the fatty rat and the mosquito from spirited away :D

I would! I think next time we go, I'll get about a page or two's worth and see how it goes.

Congrats on going! Is this your first trip? TDS is my favorite Disney park, full-stop! Are you staying at Disney, or more in the heart of Tokyo?
