USPS lost 4 of my packages ($50 worth of pin purchases)

So, I have had 4 packages lost by USPS, even though tracking says they have been delivered. I had to open a missing cases for all my packages originally, 11 packages in total. 7 have been found but 4, including a pricey limited edition Zootopia Magic Band have not been found. Really upsetting that this Post Office can mess up so much (others are apparently upset as well they have a 1 star rating) but really just upset I spent $50 on pins that I will never receive I will still give the eBay sellers good reviews since it wasn't their fault but still it's a big lose of money. If they are like this losing 4 out of 11 packages, I am now worried what will happen for future purchases or trades.

Were the items shipped via USPS priority? If so they should have included a $50 insurance with the cost of postage. Sorry for your predicament!

You had 11 packages that got scanned delivered and never showed up??? That is a major, MAJOR screw-up by your mail-carrier. Packages are supposed to be scanned as delivered when they actually put them in your mailbox or on your porch; some carriers are lazy though so they just scan all their packages at the beginning of the day before dropping everything off. Then if something gets left in the truck by accident, it's been "delivered" but you don't have it. It's happened to me--scanned "delivered" on Friday or Saturday, didn't show up until the following Monday.

But it's really rare for a package to show delivered and then completely disappear. Do you mind if I ask where the 7 missing packages were that did get found? If the missing 4 were scanned, it's likey that they're somewhere. Is there somewhere outside your house that a carrier could have placed packages that wouldn't be obvious? By a back door, in a bush...? Sounds weird, but I've heard some strange stories. Also, if you're friendly with your neighbors, have you checked with any of them to see if they could have gotten any of the packages by mistake? Often that's where they show up.

I do have a feeling they scanned it before they delivered, because it seems like the tracking says they have been delivered exactly after 10am or 11am but I don't see the mail truck until around 3pm.

So, I recently moved to this new place and been here for over a week now, all the packages were originally put in the key lock mail box that USPS owns, but I am still waiting on my key and they assured me my packages were fine inside, and if I wait for the mailman he could get my packages to me. 4 of the 7 packages that were originally missing and found, the mailman left it on my doorstep (since my bedroom sees the front door and porch and I work from home I got those right as he walked up) on two separate days when they eventually found them (they never told me where they found them). And the 3 three did end up in the lock box but I had to get someone from the post office to personally come down unlock the entire communal lock box and find it for me but that was it, not other packages.

The missing 4 were ones I kept on going to the Post Office and calling about, I had to open 4 lost package cases and 2 returned with "sorry your packages are missing we can't do anything about it but by helping report them you will make us better in the future" or something along those lines.

So I am not to sure what happened, they told me they don't deliver to porches or front door (unless it was a special request like the one I made) and those ones were noted as "delivered inside mailbox". And my front door area is very empty so no bushes for them to hide. The only other thing I can think of is someone with a key taking them out of my box, but neither the landlords who own this place or the Post Office has keys, reason why they are being reordered. The other idea is probably they put them in the wrong mailbox. So not sure what happened.

Okay... Yeah, it seems likely that they went to the wrong mailbox/a neighbor, or possibly they were left on your porch after all even though they weren't supposed to and got stolen. If a neighbor does have them, hopefully they're nice people and the packages will get back to you eventually. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful! And sorry your post office couldn't either

Have you tried calling the PO it dispatches from directly? The 1-800 number isn't terribly helpful I've found, but dammed if I didn't get the direct line to my local PO and raise hell last time a package got misdelivered. The carrier knew exactly where it was and got it for me. I keep that number in my phone, since it seems to be a matter of national security. ::rolls eyes::

Yeah, I called the post office directly, in fact called every morning when they opened to let them know about the situation again. Most of the time it will take half an hour of ringing them before they picked up and answered, got picked up so many times only to be hung up on. Basically my phone log for the last week is just them.

Unless they were delivered and stolen, possible you may still see them one day. I bought a pin from someone on this board, it showed delivered. I have a secure box, so if it was really delivered, I would have had it. PO wouldn't do anything. But 4 months later it mysteriously appeared in my mailbox

Perhaps get a mailbox at USPS or UPS; though it cost money but maybe better than lost.

If you haven't been following the news, there have been large mail theft rings uncovered recently. Most of the theft was by USPS employees. In my area of Cali, we also have problems with breakins into the neighborhood mailboxes. It's a sinking feeling to open up your mailbox and see blue skies in the back of your mailbox. I finally had my mail placed on vacation hold and held at the post office until the neighborhood mailbox was replaced.

I hope that all goes well with your situation and can relate to your situation. When I lived at my inlaw's property for a bit, quite a bit of my mail would always turn up missing/returned to sender. Ironically, my wife's mail would sometimes end up at her mom's via the mail currier as that was where much of her college mail was sent to. One of the packages was unfortunately a pin forwarding trading game...
