Can someone please tell me how it is that a seller on ebay already sold 33 of the Pinocchio movie pins and i was at DLR last night looking for any of them and they were sold out everywhere? This kind of stuff makes me mad someone gets 33 of a pin thats supposed to be a 2 pin limit and I couldnt find 1 last night . I did buy 2 earlier but i was looking for better a scene to trade 1 of my stupid Jiminys

Simple they go to multiple locations that sell them and they go with friends/family.

I have seen a seller out of FL sell about 40 or so of them for the bargain price of $24.99. How do they sell them so cheap yet after Ebay & Paypal fees still turn a profit? Only answer I can come up with is that they are jiggy with CM's who can buy those at half price. Or they are CMs themselves.

Wow. 33?? That's about $660!! Probably a pin shark. I bought three and I am happy :) Got one of Pinocchio and two Jiminys. I am not surprised that they all sold out already!

That seller could have jacked the price way up, so I think it is great they're selling them for that price. That is not much more than you're paying at the park and when you add in gas, time, and parking fees it is not more at all. I'd have to drive 1 1/2 hours each way and pay $14 parking- which I ended up not being able to do right now because of some family circumstances... I was glad to purchase a cell of my choice from them at only $25.

I'm just saying to look at what others are listing them for and be thankful that they are available for that price. I've bought pins from that seller plenty of times- they're always wonderful to deal with.

As someone who is not fortunate enough to live near a park I think what this seller is doing is Amazing!!! He/She is not out for blood and marking them sky-high. The small profit probably comes from either a passholder, CM, or Disney Visa discount plus they may get rewards dollars or something like that for the activity on their credit card.

I know it is easy to jump all over these people, but I for one would rather see one seller selling 30+ at $25 each rather than thirty different sellers each selling one at $80+ each.

I can also understand that it may be frustrating for those living near a park, but in that instance, I go back to my "if you snooze you lose" motto. Just like buying online, if you aren't there when they are released then you can't really complain that they are all gone or picked over. If you have other responsibilities like most of us do and can't make it, then get your pin from the person kind enough to sell them at $25 instead of $80. It would probably be cheaper in the end anyway rather than paying for gas, parking, etc. to go to the park and get it yourself.

That would be an amazing price to find on ebay since the lowest price i can now find is $40 and the highest $125. Somebody got wise and raised the prices. I would have loved to gotten one of these. I hope that everyone gets the scene they want and at a decent price.

Happy Friday everyone!!

They didn't raise the price, they are apparently sold out of them since the price was so great.

I was very frustrated because I did get the day off to drive up there . I got up there before the park opened and still came out with a Jiminy . I did get one Pinocchio that was all I was able to see because of the you can only see 4 pins rule . I definately wasnt snoozing but still didnt come out on top.

No, no .. don't get me wrong, I am very very appreciative of this seller. I have bought from them several pins before, not POMH pins, but others. I always appreciated their fair pricing and this time they had great scenes too.

I am just wondering how they manage it, that's all.

After reading everyone's difficulties in obtaining these great pins at the parks, I can't help appreciating Crystal's efforts even more. She puts herself out there for us and most of us are all-said-and-done complete strangers.

yes i am thinking this too...after going on open day for the pan pin...just to find out that one pearson got 35plus and 2 guys got 50 each of best pins. i saw around 60 pins all of the gog or sky.... and one of jon flying that i got our fam. We are happy with one but the whole day and what i learned makes me think about how sad this is and can be... U are right...we all have other things to do...so we should not have got out our passes.. I spend over 1500 just on 3 APs.. it would b much better for me to stay home and seend ppl to break the rules to help me.. its one thing to get a pin or to for friends...but to take 135plus for 3 ppl..thats bs....no matter what price thay are sold... If we all stop going to the park cuz pins are raped...than guess what disney would go away....they make money at the park when we go and hang out and eat and buy things...not just pins...but sum of us want atleast one... i can see both sides of this story...but its funny to me how sum ppl just see there side and how nice it is for ppl im the uk or far far away to get a pin for less than i can drive there and get...even with my discount...the trip and day cost over 250... we do that cuz we love disney and want to suport mickey.... i hope that sum day ppl can see that even if u mean well with this..its not cool at all.. PS. and to grab pins from sum ones hands is real rude....would u still want to supost a pearson that acts like that and in the name of DPF or being a helpper to pin traders... ???? just a thought...to think about.... thank you

So this person buying all these pins, and this is not like a DS set.... this is 33 pins here... is okay and for them to profit off them very easily off a third party company is okay? I thought pin traders called these people sharks.

And I personally don't think they're smart, just very annoying. They're selling for a small profit, but a profit nonetheless. How this person even gets away with getting 33 pins is beyond me. Is DLR this badly run where this just happens? This doesn't even affect me, but it's annoying to see people just lay down and let these POMH pins be manipulated and used by people with only the intentions of 1.) profiting and 2.) making it even more annoying for people to get a pin they want.

My suggestion for these POMH pins would be to make them a mystery so this wouldn't happen and people would actually have some incentive to buy them after the day of release.

:)

+1 and +1
on both points
mystery pins do seem to take the water out of the shark ponds.... +1million

All I meant was that it could be MUCH worse. I have not been able to make it to one of these releases yet, and the only time I've paid anywhere close to cost was buying from this seller(other than the 1 Nana pin I was lucky enough to have caligirl pick up for me). I was very happy to get on eBay yesterday and see that I had that option, with pictures, so I could choose exactly what I wanted. I was so extremely far from annoyed to see their pins for sale after spending a complete fortune on this series of pins so far on the secondary market.

It is WDW this seller shops at, not DLR. That means 4 different parks plus DTD, so how many stores is that? They could be completely following the rules.

As for the mystery aspect, somehow people found ways to open the vinylmation baggies, replace them with scrappers, and then seal them back up to be able to return them, so I'm sure they'd do that here to(there was a thread about it on PinTalk where people on both coasts confirmed).

I couldn't quite follow all of that and I'm not sure if you are being serious or sarcastic so I'm just going to refrain from responding to any of the points...

We are talking 33 pins out of 2000....not 33 out of 100. Also, there were virtually no bad cells with this pin. No empty rooftops or black cells with just magic dust. There should be tons and tons of good cells out there so I don't see what the big deal is.

So what's the difference between getting sharked by a seller versus sharked by a trader? I got a few trade request in today offering this pin and do you think they were asking for $20 pins? Uhhh, no. So if someone goes to buy one of these for $20 and trys to turn around the next day and trade it for a pin that sells for $80 on ebay that's ok? But someone turning it around and selling it for $25 is not ok? In this instance, I'd take the ebay "shark" any day.

And pertaining to DS pins - is buying an LE 100 pin set when it was discounted and then trying to sell it for the original selling price ok? Wouldn't that fit your explaination of "sharky"?

Almost everyone takes the market value of their pins into account. So, don't get me wrong by my comments, I'm a believer in the secondary value of a pin so I'm not saying that some of these shouldn't have a higher than retail trade value. But people can't sit and criticize a seller for selling a bunch of pins at a VERY REASONABLE price and then trun around and sell or trade their own pins at a mark-up. ....well...I guess they can, but it is a real double standard....

I'm very surprised you weren't able to find a decent cell if you were there first thing in the morning (plus, your original post says you were there last night, so I took that to mean that is when you arrived...). There are so many good cells from this clip. Also, as Maeblum08 pointed out, this seller is in Florida so whatever they did didn't impact you in DLR.

I did get one ok cel with pinocchio but i saw some people had some with pinocchio and jiminy . I bought two , one to keep , and one to trade , but I only got one with pinocchio . So i have to either trade the good pinocchio I got or trade the jiminy for most likely nothing good because there was tons of jiminy . Thats why Im mad. I know that seller was in FL but if it happened there you know it happened here too.

Well, the thing with that though is that there aren't going to be very many with both Jiminy and Pinocchio together. If you look at the clip from the movie there are only a couple of little spots where they are pictured together. I'm not sure how many seconds (and I can't even remember how many cells to a second right now) but that isn't going to translate to a whole lot of those. I'm guessing less than a hundred and then you split that between the parks and locations....that one would kind of be like finding a needle in a haystack and you would need luck on your side or some mad cell pickin' skills.

if any part is unclear....just ask..its ok to chat...thats why we are here ..to talk and help each other....im not talking of wdw....and many other post here are of what im talking of...DLR and ppl that go everymonth and get large numbers of pins....not 10 or 15...... One trader gets over 35 each time...and 2 guys get 50 each time.... Just so u know....i got this info at the park..out side western ho...long bfor i knew of any one helping or what ever... so im not picking on anyone.... I was at the park for my pan pin..and couldnt find any....sumone ouside...said it could b partly becuse...sumone got 35 plus and 2 ppl got 50 each....so thats 135plus pins for 3 ppl to sell.....its not a mater of what they sell for...even though we know they all make money..even if just a little off each.... Its still wrong.. and dlr rules is 2 le pins per shopper....so if u walk around all day and do it 2 at a time...u still suck...but played by the rules......We all know thats not happaning.... som ppl are getting large numbers each time and from the same cms.... And still have not got ant word from any of u....about if its ok to grab pins from sumones hands....would u think its all ok..if u knew that ....just trying to open ppls eyes to both sides....i can see both...why dont others...i get sum ppl are away from the park.... so its ok to help a few friends....not sell...35plus or 50 plus....not sure why thats so hard to get...mayb im just dumb or sumthing....

I don't think you are being dumb...it is just a matter of perspective. And no, I don't think anyone (here anyways) thinks it is ok to take pins out of someone's hands phisically. But, if you are there and they are not, what is wrong with buying the pins? :dunno: If they didn't someone else would. Regardless of who purchased them, at 7 or 8 o'clock at night they are going to be picked over.

Also, we have to remember that not all collectors are as ingrained in the pin community as we are. People that don't live near the park may not have a "friend" that is willing to pick up pins for them. There are a lot of people like that. They don't engage in the online community and just buy from ebay. In those cases, an ebay seller is their "friend".

I totally agree. I think people just need to stop throwing around the term "shark" so much. Not willing to trade an older pin at cost? Sharking. Trying to buy new pins to trade them for older stuff? Sharking. Reselling a pin you bought? Sharking. Wanting to trade up a bunch of smaller pins for an LE? Sharking. Wanting to trade an LE down into multiple pins of less worth? Sharking. Shark shark shark shark. The word has no meaning anymore. Haha

If you don't want to trade with someone, or you don't want to buy from a particular seller, that's cool. But I'm admittedly getting kind of tired of people labeling anyone who doesn't agree with their exact trading style a "shark". It's a collectibility-driven hobby. We're not all going to get what we all want all the time, at the price we believe we should be able to get it. It wouldn't be any fun if we could.
