Shop Disney just released this beautiful new pin. It's pricey, but it looks like it's going to be part of a new series.

Belle Jumbo Pin - Limited Edition

Wow, that's gorgeous. Love the hidden Mickey on her dress. I'm kind of tempted to buy one... how quickly do you think it will sell out?

I think it will go pretty fast. The price might slow it down a little.

I got a PM about it, apparently last night after I fell asleep. LOL.

I don't know....I'll show sis when she wakes up

Information about it:

Created especially for Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort

  • Online premiere
  • Limited Edition of 300
  • Jumbo pin
  • Enamel cloisonné
  • Translucent goldtone elements
  • Glitter detailing
  • Goldtone finish
  • Mickey icon pinbacks
  • Part of the Stunning Silhouettes Collection

Makes it sound like it'll show up at the parks

I think it’s still available on the Shop Parks app! I just checked and it let me add it to my bag

In case anyone has an extra, I am interested! I should have woken sis up yesterday morning when I got up, cuz she told me later that day that she wanted it! :p

Can't believe how fast the price has already skyrocketed on the secondary market. Two sold on eBay for $100 the SAME DAY as the release. These resellers are completely shameless. But I guess it's hard to argue that collectors are being taken advantage of when people are actually willing to pay that much. There are two current eBay auctions and both of them are already up to $96. It just sucks that people are basically being priced out of this hobby.

Do you guys think the prices are just due to hype and they'll eventually go down, or is this going to be another Disney Girls Reveal/Conceal situation? I'm definitely gonna try to jump on the next release from this series - looks like I could really turn a profit. (Kidding. These are clearly going to make great traders, though.)

What's the Disney Girls Reveal/ Conceal set?

Pin traders/ collectors/ resellers are so fickle. I feel like it should come down to like... $60-70 range.. BUT it is a jumbo (even if it's just named so), it's really pretty, and it's kinda low LE size. WHO KNOWS!?! I thought I didn't want it, but now I think I do! T__T

EXACTLY!! The market supports it so they do it. If people wouldn't pay it, they wouldn't be selling like that, but everyone has the right to value things as they see fit. Personally, for me, I will not pay that much for an individual pin regardless of whether or not I can afford it. I do think it's unfortunate that some people can't get certain pins that they really desire due to the price, but the same is true of pins that just happen to be very scarce so hard to get a trade for. We all have some that fall into that category as well. I don't think it's so much being priced out of the hobby, just priced out of certain pins. There are plenty more pins out there! One thing I do worry about is how it impacts just the general price of pins coming out of Disney. They have to be thinking "Well, we thought $35 was a bit high for the pin, but it sold out instantly and is going for $100 on ebay, so lets make it $50 next time." That's what worries me the most.

*Shameless plug alert*

I'm hosting an auction right now for this pin. I noticed the exorbitant prices too and thought how unfair it was and how unfair it always is for collectors to be forced to pay shark prices. I do believe pins should be valued at what their worth is and not at cost, but we let secondary market prices and resale values define too much what the "true" value of the pin is.

That being said, fair market value is what a willing buyer will pay and what a willing seller will accept for something. And like what was said before, if we continue to pay those shark prices for pins, then we are the ones helping define what the value of the pin is.

I definitely expected this pin to sell out fast, for all the reasons you listed plus the fact that Belle is a popular character, but I'm genuinely surprised by how quickly the price jumped and how excited people seem to be about the series. I swear I've seen like two dozen comments on IG asking "Is there a Rapunzel???" Haha. I think a lot of people are *predicting* that this will be another Reveal/Conceal type princess series, and are rushing to get Belle because they view it as an investment. It will be really interesting to see if the series actually ends up being as popular as people seem to expect.
