I decided to make this an official auction! It's more fun that way.

And I hopefully can't break any rules this way.

Unless this auction is somehow breaking the rules. If that is the case, I'll shut down production immediately.

All of that being said...

This auction is for the pin on the right in the below picture. Picture is of actual pin.

The "bids" if you will shall only consist of reasons why you love Mr. Toad. This is, after all, an auction for a Mr. Toad pin.

Actual Mr. Toad collectors will get a bonus point since I really would like to help other toad collectors and otherwise want to spread the joy of Mr. Toad.

Bonus points will also be awarded for proper gif usage.

Winner will be announced in exactly one week. Sweepstakes submissions will be received up until 5:00 PM on 9/24.

Special door prizes may be awarded to those who do not win depending on how much I love the reason.

Special bonus prize(s) may be awarded to the winner.

How about bonus for first responder? (Edit-First responder with statement about why like Mr. Toad since @Disneychildwithin beat me on the overall response.) I have never posted a GIF before but might have to for this one. I will try to come back and edit accordingly. But on to the response of why I love Mr. Toad....

Well, to be a little more specific, why I love Mr. Toad's Ride! That's right, the ride. And even more specifically, the WDW version. And yes, I remember it very well. Sure there are plenty of other dark rides, but this is the most lasting memory from my first visit to WDW as a child as well as when I went back for the first time with my now-wife (or Mrs. AJK as @MerlinEmrys aptly refers to her). While other dark rides are enjoyable, Mr. Toad was extra special because, as appropriate, it always felt border-line out of control to me. The car really zipped along and you thought you were going to hit the item in front of you, only for the scene to move at the last moment. Plus, with the dual tracks, you basically had two (slightly) different rides in one. And the cars came at each other at one point which was extra awesome. And I have to give props to Disney for the history recognition on the Winnie the Pooh ride (which is also fun, but in a different way). How awesome is it that in Owl's home there is a "photo" of Mr. Toad handing over the deed to the property?! Just so fun all around.

Now, to be fair, I am not a Mr. Toad pin collector so deduct a point for that. But I do have some. Such as this AP pin I got off a board at the WDW annual pin event a couple of years back:

Thanks for the opportunity! Fun auction!

I am a Mr. Toad collector, although I collect so many things that when it comes to pins, he sometimes takes a bit of a back seat (usually with Ebay or trades, when a pin is easily available, I snatch it right up!). But when I go to the parks I am always wearing my Mr Toad Bolo lanyard

Which brings me to my "best reason for loving Mr. Toad."

Because the CMs go crazy for him!

I can't tell you how many conversations I have had with Disney CMs over my lanyard (or a shirt, if I am wearing one). So many will tell stories of their childhood memories riding Mr Toad or wishing they could have ridden the ride, or going to Disneyland and going to hell again. And last year, I made a CM's day by correctly answering the question, "Where was Mr. Toad going?" I guess most people don't remember the song.

Confession: haven't seen this movie yet.

BUT, now I'm motivated and will get right on it! Points for conversion?
Oh my gosh! It’s okay. We can fix this. We can get you help! I watch the movie every Halloween because it’s paired with Ichabod Crane/Legend of Sleepy Hollow. It isn’t Halloween without watching this movie, so it’s the perfect time for you to watch it!

Ummm...you mean they're not the same movie?!

Okay, I don’t expect to win, but I’ll list my reason for loving Toad.

Omg, he’s just like me in some ways!
1) I go out and just buy things I don’t need, usually because they’re shiny or exciting, not thinking about how much it will cost, how I’ll pay for it, or what trouble it might cause (reference my pin collection and other collections I started but now no longer collect, which takes me to the next part).
2) I also have a short attention span. I LOVE something for a while, but then something else apprears and I am completely enamored with that.
3) And then there’s the naivety. I believe people at their word for the most part. It bites me in the butt a lot, but I like to believe that people are inherently good.

I wish I were more like MacBadger at times, but being Toad is a lot more fun!

I’m sure there are tons of other reasons to love him, but this is how I relate to him. :D

Oh, and I do have a small collection of Mr. Toad pins. I do not know how to post gifs. Lol

So many amazing bids so far and I'm not sure what to do. It isn't a traditional auction that you bid, get outbid, and then try to better your original bid. It's more like Toad the Wet Sprocket, one and done.

Also it's entirely subjective so I may forego a leaderboard and announce the winner or winners at the end if everyone is in agreement.

Sorry I can't help myself but keep those amazing bids coming. I can really feel the love for Toad.

That makes me remember that there's a security guard on the east side of DLR that loves to say funny things to the crowd waiting to go through the checkpoint. He always asks "How many rides are in Disneyland?" "No, only one! Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is the only one with the word "ride" in its name. The others are all attractions."

*Sigh*

I can't let all this dissing of Toad the Wet Sprocket go unchallenged. They weren't a One Hit Wonder. The also had hits with Walk on the Ocean, Fall Down, and Something's Always Wrong.

They play a lot in Colorado, and it never works out for me to go to a concert. They were playing, literally 2 miles away from my house at the beginning of August and we couldn't go. I have listed to fear and Dulcinea ... umm, maybe I shouldn't admit how many times.

I don't know if this helps or hurts my auction entry.

I'm sorry! I'm going to go ahead and rent this from my library...no worries, I'm on a mission now to redeem myself!
I actually think it's really sweet that you're even interested in watching it! But if you change your mind, I'm happy to send the copy so you can watch it every year too! Lol.

Since this thread is already off-topic, ha, I'ma back up my girl Hope here. First of all, "All I Want" is a seminal classic. And Toad the Wet Sprocket actually did a great cover of John Lennon's "Instant Karma!" for the Working Class Hero tribute album (it was one of the best tracks on that album). So ... yeah. What was this thread about? Oh right, the frog thing. Best of luck to all the actual bidders!!!!!! :D

I do not really qualify as a Mr. Toad fan, per se, but this is a fun discussion. My mother is Canadian and a major Anglophile, so Wind in the Willow was regularly read to us. I love the story but Mole and Ratty were my favorite characters instead. I do sit down with my son to watch it and Ichabod every Halloween. Sadly, he still finds Toad kind of boring.

I finally tried the ride on my first-ever visit to Disneyland, just last year. It was kind of traumatic! I had no idea how it ended. My son was freaked. I mean, I was an entertained surprised. I didn't disapprove. But yikes!

I love Mr. Toad. He's an amazing character and it was my favorite ride at WDW. I always point out the picture of Mr Toad handing the deed to Owl on the Winnie the Pooh ride and head over to the Haunted Mansion to the pet cemetery, where he's now more prominently featured, to pour out a little of whatever drink I have on the ground. Rest in peace, little homie.

I do have a small sub-collection of Mr. Toad pins, as you know. Like the ride at WDW, they may be departing, so I don't need a pin. I just wanted to share the love for Mr. Toad.
