Thanks for the PM I found it. Comparing the two different sellers pictures the US pin has one post where the one from China has two posts. Both have the mickey patterns close together and both have the sku stamped. Also Peters shadow on the one from China is definitely different in shape, sharpness, and color density. The one from the US the shadow is darker (can't see s much metal showing through) and his hand is not touching his knee as it is in the China one. Sharpness may be photo quality but the US pin shows a sharper shadow outline. Also I don't like that second P of the PP stamp on the China pin. It doesn't look consistent with the first P.

I know there are design differences in PP pins, but I don't know if they monkey with the number of posts on the pin during that process, if so then fine, but otherwise one vs. two posts is a big flag. Although odd because it is usually the fakes that only have one post.

Would love to see this in the pin comparison forum once you get it in the mail.

I would not say all pins look good. He has many questionable pins known to be counterfeited (I think counterfeited, not scrapperefd) including the famous designer shoes and Alice mystery pins. Many many vinylmation pins for $2.20

He even has one Cheshire Le 100 pin. I have no idea how that got in there :lol:

And I am definitely uneasy about the seller's location.

I think LuvSimba's explanation is a possibility. I am very curious now to see what will happen.

One more question: If this is a PP indeed, why is it not mentioned anywhere in the title or in the pin description? Would that not be a major selling point for anyone in the know??

While we are on the subject, anyone willing to pick one of these up for me at DLR on the REAL release date in January?

I think the term "scrapper" Vs "counterfiet" should be discussed a bit here....

A scrapper is a pin manufactured by the official Disney factory. It just doesn't pass the quality control tests and gets trashed, or "scrapped." Factory employees then steal them and sell them off market. Sometimes a pin passes quality control that should not have. We have all seen "scrap worthy" pins on Disney shelves. It doesn't have to be "worth it" to scrap them, all they have to do is smuggle them out the factory doors.

A counterfeit on the other hand.... THOSE need to be worth the time and effort to create. Counterfeits are non disney manufactured. They steal/make/blackmarket purchase a design or "stamp" and then make pins from beginning to end. Counterfeits these days are getting better and better.... A few counterfeits I have seen recently:



The octopus one: :banghead: The ONLY noticeable difference is that the LE size on the back-stamp is incorrect. Putting the 2 side by side, you can see very very slight color variant as well.

The Duck one is more obvious.:nono: instead of gold, the metal is silver, and Stitch upon closer inspection had paint dips.

The HK PTN is a pin on pin. :eek2: WHAT?!?! you say? Pin on pin counterfeit?:shock: yuuuuuuup. The one I currently have in hand has 1 post, not 2, and there is clear glue around the edge of the top pin. The pinpic info says the color is off, but when I held my pin up to the computer to compare, they were almost identical.

The snow white now... THAT ONE I was very confused by. DLRP pins counterfeited? maybe pinpics is wrong? But apparently, DLRP never created a flat version of this pin.:cry: The one pictured above is #33590. the counterfeit version has no pin on pin element, it is flat. #55334 looks great! and I truely wish it could be found to be Disney, not counterfeit.

Basically, if any of this new Peter Pan pin are on the market, they are either gotten from a secret source, stolen, counterfeit, or scrap. ((Secret source: Disney Cast members or perhaps a previewed pin got into circulation?))

When does it come out in January? If the 3rd, yes, if around the 12th, yes. Not sure about other dates we are going...
 
Many Pp pins I have won over the years in WDW auctions are different size's and colors. Many also have Two posts instead of the one in the released version. I think there is a 75% chance you are getting a one of a kind pin. We will have to see if they sell more in the future.

A bit off topic and I can move it to a different thread if appropriate, but is it at all possible that it is just mislabeled as counterfeit because there isn't enough info? I have been disappointed and a bit irritated that a few times I research pins on pinpics that are labeled as counterfeit only to discover a few moths later that they were found to in fact be authorized pins. One pin was a hkdl (or japan? one of the two, Ill have to look up) Marie pin that I think I threw away since I was so bugged I had traded for it at the parks and researched to see it labeled as a scrapper, and another was a dlrp sorcerer pin that thankfully my mom didn't throw away. So really I don't have complete faith in pinpics regarding labeling pins as counterfeit- I wish they would just label it as unknown until more info is found out about a pin so people don't mistakenly miss out on trading possibly perfectly good pins :dunno:



On topic I truly hope this is not a counterfeit! Looks like it is going to be an awesome series and I hate to feel like we have to be suspect of them so early on! Can't wait to hear what you find out, AverysFairyTale!

+1 ditto to the whole thing! I truly hope that someone at pinpics is researching things before labeling pins such as the snow white above counterfeit. Because people rely on pinpics so much, I could not in good conscience trade away the snow white. So I crossed the back with marker and gave it to a snow white collector who liked it regardless.
 
If it has the official wording "Please be advised that there are unauthorized versions of these pins being sold from China directly to individuals not associated with Disney. No one can guarantee the authenticity of this pin."

Then that means the pin has been shown on one of the Chinese manufacturer listings (like this: http://www.tradekey.com/product-free/1-000-Disney-Pins-Lot-1547245.html) or in one of those emails that get sent out offering pins for sale for cheap (when Dizpins was active they kept a list of pictures http://www.dizpins.com/pinventory/scrappers.htm).
 
I found the sale from November 1st on ebay. That seller definitely sells fake pins. They have been selling a load of fake Jessica's among others. But, it looks as though that seller only had the one pin. Very odd. I would venture to say it is a scrapper as others have mentioned. A sample run that did not meet the desired quality or expectations and has now found its way to ebay. Hence the PP stamp. If that is the case, there should maybe be around 15 of these in existence? Not sure.

+1M. She is the same seller who offers fake Jessica as Queen of herts and Jessica as Alice pin.

The same seller from the Nov 1st pin also used to sell fake pins on Amazon I purchased a pin from her when I first started collecting and she kept me on her mailing list. So, every now and then I used to get links to her Amazon sales. I do not get sale e-mails from her anymore though.

It got even more curious ....

First, the same seller re-listed another Peter Pan Windows pin at $15.50 and then he cancelled his listing because item was not "available".

I find it VERY HARD to believe that there can be genuine pre-sale out of China. I am guessing that Ozzie alerted the seller to the fact that the pin is not released yet and he is going to be cautious now.

Oh ... and he lists his pins as "used". A pre-sale that has been used ?? Really ?? LOL ....

Bigger RED FLAGS are popping up by the minute on this pin. I tell ya it's the Princess Designer Shoes all over again. We can't get nice pins without them being scrapped.
 
I think the fact that it is a yet-to-be-released pin coming out of China is the biggest red flag for me.

China is the main source of counterfeit/scrapper pins...so unless it is a Hong Kong Disneyland pin coming from China...I would (personally) steer clear.

And correct me if I'm wrong...but doesn't Disney save their AP and PP pins for trading events and such? I don't know how an authentic PP pin would somehow magically end up in the hands of a seller from China before the release...
 
Bad News! I just was browsing new listings and a China seller has the Dalmatians window pin for BIN $8.95.

I can see that he already sold 2 of the Dalmatian pins for $7.95 (in the same BIN listing as multiples) and has another one too, but he lists them as Walt's Classic Collection as if it is 73766.

I just looked at the auction picture at the back of the pin closely though and it says "Window Magic" on the back of the pin.

And he is offering a Peter Pan PP for $24 OBO. This is his 3rd PP pin for Peter Pan Windows magic.

Crushedbubbles - yes, the mystery stamps have been scrappered too
