2014 Designer Dolls - Fairytale Collection Part II
I agree, I've always seen it as grey. The only thing that is purple is her shawl, but they made the original Animator Aurora in a purple version of her Briar Rose outfit. I think when they used to sell the extra outfits for the classic dolls it was also purple there. Maybe they think little girls don't like grey? I used to love it when I was little even though it was grey. I'm still excited for her though, since I prefer her Briar Rose outfit to her princess outfit.I never saw Aurora's peasant dress as being purple. Isn't it more of a hazy brown/gray? Maybe the slightest hint of dusty purple, but it's really more brown. I would have loved to have seen her with a really rich version of that color instead of a very "Rapunzel purple" shade. Browns can be luxurious. My wedding was in all browns.
1) Make it Blue! Make it Pink!
Just a few minutes on this forum reveals the debate is alive and well. It always seemed quite obvious to me that Disney places Aurora in her pink dress so that she stands out from Cinderella. After all, the dresses are similar at first glance and both princesses are blonde. It's an easy call to make. Of course, they never put her in her peasant clothes because she's a princess and should be regal at all times. For those lovers of the blue Aurora, sorry, Cindy already has that look.
2) The ethnic princesses are everyone's least favorites.
Mulan, Pocahontas, Jasmine and Tiana are at the bottom of most people's lists. I find this really curious since these princesses seem to have some of the best developed personalities. Sassy, strong, brave, hard-working. Maybe that's just it then. Strong princesses ruin the fairy tale? The classic romance with a damsel in distress is nostalgic for so many of us and harder to achieve when the princess has more than 18 lines of dialogue (Aurora). We want our princesses to be lovely, demure, gentle and sweet (and sadly it seems, white). The theory doesn't fit universally. Merida is quite strong and seems to be popular among girls but not so much among collectors. Her dolls are cheap on eBay. I'm interested to see which princesses become popular as the next generation of girls grows up.

Ok..
-There really isn't anything new with Tiana... It's just the same exact image. lol
-Prince Charming's skin tone is normal. It matches Cinderella's. I would wait until the lithograph images come out because that's when you'll see all the shadows and stuff.
-Pocahontas and Jon smith look like they're about to go into a battle. Not romantic at all. lol. Also, the reaction of the price of their set is going to interesting. Because I can't see there set sell for more than $90.
-I like the Aurora is in her briar rose dress, but I also don't like it. I don't like that they changed the color of her skirt. I don't like that it's a fancy gown instead of the short skirt. :/ Also, it is very very very similar to Ariel's dress. I mean, look at this:
But overall, she's still better than every other design we've seen. So I'm gonna give them a pass for this.
-The highlight of mulan's dress is her sleeves. The main problem I have with her dress is that It's going to have be really really really tight in order for it to look good. Shang is shang....Its going to be interesting to see if his armor will be made with plastic or metal. and his helmet too. lol
New ratings based on what i've seen:
1. Aurora/Briar Rose and Prince Phillip
2. Cinderella and Prince Charming
3. Pocahontas and John Smith
4. Mulan and Shang
5. Tiana and Naveen
I think he meant the already released designer villains series from 2 years ago.Wait Matt...is there designer Maleficent about to be released?
I would expect them to come out around the same time the last wave did, so from August to October maybe? I gotta say I love the them even more now that I have seen full images of the artwork. The only thing that bugs me is Charming's skin color. Its still clearly his face, but his tanned skin makes him look off to me. He still looks great, but it just bugs me a little. I am sure the dolls will look even better and I cannot wait for pictures to come up! Looks like I am going to be spending a fortune later in the year with the 17 inch dolls, designer dolls, and the Sleeping Beauty merchandise.
I think she means it's a shame they got leaked. And I agree.
But they look very nice. I can't really tell until I see the dolls themselves, though, because I really love the illustration for the Tangled fairytale couple but the dolls' eyes are a bit creepy.
I think Aurora´s dress looks different on different releases. You can Google her dress and some look very grey and some definitely look purplish. I would like to know the original version, it is possible the grey is from VHS versions that had lost some of the color and purple is form remastered ones. I think the remastered ones are definitely more colorful. I hope Disney did not intentionally change the color (sometimes I worry that they will edit the film so that Fauna won and put Aurora pink for the entire film :lolif someone knows what color Aurora´s dress was originally I would appreciate it. Perhaps I could go to a different Disney forum where many are animators and know these things (and not mention that I am injuring this regarding a doll…)
But I love the purple on her (one of my favorite colors anyway) and I have always seen her shawl purple at least.
