2018 Pin Releases
Anyone happen to know how frequently those Mickey decade things were supposed to be released? I thought it was monthly? I feel like it's been a while.
I want that light blue one!
They release the 3rd Saturday of each month. The 1950's blue set is releasing on May 19th.

So, I made it to the 5/4 release at DSSH and was number 294. All the Hank PTDs sold out before I got a chance to buy - a bit disappointing. Still really happy I got to buy the cuties (except Simba). When I was finally in the store with 2 people ahead of me, they just stopped selling everything. Nobody told us anything, but I had this sinking feeling that something was terribly wrong and I wasn’t getting any pins. After a long while, they finally started selling again. I don’t know what happened, but one of the employees was cursing as she was talking to another employee and handing me the pins I purchased. Basically saying FTS. Curiousity was definitely killing me, lol.

My observations... there are a lot of aggressive/rude people at these releases. While I was waiting in the PTD line, I heard several times they had stopped selling (CC and PTDs) until people had cleared the sidewalk outside. The security was trying to push the PTD line out in order to make it thinner... not sure if there were issues with the CC line. The PTD line was 5-6 people thick and they wanted us to thin it out. No one really listened. I tried to move back and just ended up getting out of voucher number order since 1/2 of the line would not push the line back, so I was stuck not moving (since we had to be in voucher number order). Controlling the crowd for the releases is a thankless job. Someone near me in line yelled at the security people to "do their job"... which was a bit of a random comment since that was what the security was trying to do... I wonder if it was the crowd outside that was the issue when they stopped selling?

They also do stop selling to count supply of pins, so they do not oversell/overpromise. I think some people will try to buy the released set from the PTD line and may sometimes get away with it. So far I have never attended a release where the pins sold out prior to the LE size, but seems like it could happen... One time I was evacuated from the store right after I paid for my pins, but prior to pick up. That was a mob scene and as I waited to return to the store to collect my purchased pins this women tried to get in with her receipt stating she had not received her pins either. She was rejected (her receipt showed she had picked up her pins.) People are all sorts of unethical at these releases.

That probably explains the multiple times the line outside didn’t move for 30+ minutes at a time. I didn’t hear anybody being rude while I was inside, but that certainly wouldn’t surprise me - I’ve seen people get pretty nasty regarding things that seem a whole lot less valuable that our beloved pins...

Stockholm syndrome.
Okay... that took me a moment to get. Hahaha

It really helps to have other traders I have met through this forum or Pinpics at DSSH (Timeerkat, This-n-That, Sami, Watzshakinbacon, AvatarAng, etc.) My first DSSH release was super easy (~180 in line) and I didn't know anyone. If my first one had been DSSH CC this past weekend, I may never have returned.

I think the merchandise release at Disneyland for the Star Wars Night was just as bad. I was in the Emporium before 9:00 pm. The park closed, the event started, and the merchandise was to be revealed and sold all at 9:00 pm. They didn’t clear the store, which was shoulder to shoulder people (many were not part of the event). The employees just started walking out with stuff that most people couldnt even see. I saw shirts and hats flying through the air. People grabbed whatever they could as it went by. I heard people were grabbing a dozen shirts, then bartering with others who wanted them. I told my mom it was like Walmart on a Black Friday with $0.50 towels (based on an actual experience, lol). My husband was at Star Trader and they cleared the store, but CMs gave out incorrect information about lines and there was a LOT of yelling. Wait time was up to 2.5 hours. The pins weren’t that limited (didn’t even have the r2d2) and I didn’t like the other merchandise.

Oh, I forgot to add that if you just went on Star Tours, it let out inside the store and those people could just pick up whatever they wanted to purchase - no waiting in the 2.5 hour line outside the store

Wow! No idea it was like this for the merchandise.

Well, we can't win them all, we'll probably have better luck next time.

I've only missed out on two releases, and they have both been for this darn cuties series. XD

No info on June releases at Ghirardelli?

Not yet, but they sometimes don't publish the following month until late in the current month.

I have a feeling that they will announce the next trade event in the next few days and that it will take place in June; if they do, then it's likely that the only thing for DSF in June is the trade event, since they usually don't have other releases in the same month as a trade event.

Which is funny, because since last July, the only releases that I've had really good luck at have been the two cursive cuties releases, haha! (Releases where there are far fewer people than pins, that is. It's easy to get a good number when only 250 people show up.)

Anyone got a good Japan contact? I need power and time... and maybe more if those Stones have an individual Strange in them.

I feel like using the infinity stones were missed out to use as great looking pins. They could have been the casted, 3D like the DSSH Spring Bloom series.
