24 hour event in May
they did a button and a set of mickey ears. I think also a shirt.
what 24 hour event in may?
I am still debating going or not. I went to last year's event (and did the campout the night before) and had a lot of fun, despite it being horrifically crowded. Last year they gave out buttons (one that everyone got, plus one of several styles if you were an Annual Passholder and carpooled in with at least three people) and Mike sunglasses if you were in the first so-odd amount of people to arrive. The merchandise for purchase was hats and shirts, as well as the sunglasses so you could purchase them if you didn't get them for free. I don't recall there being a special pin for sale.
I love this year's theme and that you get to dress in costume. I just don't know if I can take the time off of work yet.
I think being able to camp out the night before will be a big deciding factor. It's a lot less crowded when you arrive at 10 at night! Just grab a locker to stash your sleeping bag and pillow and you're good to go.
I'll be going that night/morning! Does anyone know which rides/areas they close down in the wee hours of the morning? I'm sure not everything is open all night long!

camp out the night before ? you mean thursday ? I thought the locker codes expire after 2am
They let people line up at the front gates starting at 10pm on Thursday night. (You had to choose which park to go to first; I chose DCA so I could get a Racers fastpass.) They let us bring sleeping bags, blankets, and pillows, and sleep in line. You just had to put your sleep stuff in a locker before you entered the park. I napped off and on, and then around 5:45 am on Friday I put my sleeping bag and pillow in one of the lockers right outside of DCA.
And they did cap entrance to the main park in mid-afternoon. If you had already been in the park you were allowed to go back in, but people who were just arriving or had spent all day in DCA were given times to come back to get in. (And even those got backed up; I overheard people with 3pm entrance times still not able to get in at 3:30.) If I do go, I plan to enter one park, spend a bit of time, then go into the other park so I can get in if/when attendance caps again.
None of the rides/areas should be closed that day, some of the food places may close for a period but that's it
All rides stayed open - but foreworning will have LONG lines. But a lot of the restuarants and food carts did close down early.
From my experience, from when the park opened at 6am - about 7pm it was actually a really nice day. But the crowds got really heavy and by midnight the gates were closed. If you are going to go, do all your rides early in the day and then use the evening just to take in the experience because the lines will be very long and getting anywhere will be difficult. We got on the train and did the grand circle tour about 3 times cause we just didn't want to go back out into the crowds.
It's a really fun event, and from the looks of it last years had even more fun activities then the previous year (which is the one I attended, the leap day one)
Have fun!
Also main street is lined with cast members with fresh hidden mickey pins if anyone is interested might find something good
