Hi! I love the idea of online pin trading, and I want to be involved, but I have one problem:

I don't have any traders!
Are there a few ways to get some nice traders without spending a fortune?
Any input is greatly appreciated!:wavey:

Great topic. It really sounds familiar. I like pins and would love to trade, i haven't traded with someone else. I have around 9 pins but none I could miss. At my previous park visit i found out about pintrading, unfortunately it was my last day,
had no park ticket, and only less than an hour left before leaving disney village. The only thing i did was trading my newly acquired pins (4) for something else with castmembers.

Going through this phase in my trading "career" I would agree with what Li (starry solo) said. I would also decide how "serious" you want to be. If you want to be super gung ho....start researching pin prices and what's a "good" deal and what's a "bad" deal and start trolling places like the bay and our sales forum here...if you see something priced right, even if it isn't your forte and you have a few extra bucks...buy it. That way, you have a decent pin/pins that someone DOES want and they will trade you what you want for what they have. Good luck and we are always here to help!

First thing is don't get into buying pins to use as traders. Buy the pins you want!

I agree. If you really like how the pin looks online (picture you see, pinpics pic, etc) and don't really like it once you get it, use it as a trader. I've gone through many collections and the collections I ended up not keeping became traders. I never sought out traders or bought pins to be traders.

When I first started out, I would check the ending soon ebay auctions every day (especially the ones that are ending at a weird time, like when most people are at work). If you see something you like, and it's going for a decent price, grab it! Then, when it arrives if you change your mind about it or it doesn't fit into your collection add it to your traders :)

That is exactly how I am as a collector. Im not a completeist or too concerned that is a HTF, LE, whatever. I really dont care. I just buy the ones that I like and catch my eye.

Ive would up with a few doubles that Ill sell/trade.

agreed. not unless you have lots of money to spend for a variety of people's likes (Princesses, Villains, NBC, Jessica, Stitch, etc). If you concentrate on buying pins you like, then you won't end up with a bunch of extras that you may or may not be able to trade or sell.

But that would ruin the point of pin trading, wouldn't it? I totally agree though, I quit buying traders and just saved up for my wants. It feels much better, the stress of finding the right traders for your pin and all. But I couldn't start pin trading until I had traders, and I couldn't have traders unless I bought them. What helped me were booster sets from the park and new releases on Disney Store.

if you do buy pins just for trading: get LEs, stock up on pins at cost when you visit the parks, avoid most holiday pins or pins with writing on them (although the soda fountain 2014 calendar would be an exception, if you can get them at cost or close to it).

but mostly... just buy pins for your collection. traders will come. you might get zapped a pin that doesnt fit your collection or play a pin game and win a pin that doesnt fit. bam! traders.

oh, and give your address to Zagales and TiggerMickey and post in the I've never been zapped thread! it increases your chances of getting zapped. :)
