:goofy::goofy:

WELCOME!!
TO MY CELEBRATION OF LIFE AUCTION.

BEFORE I TELL YOU WHAT YOU WILL BE BIDDING ON, I THINK IT'S MORE IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND WHY.

Some of you already have heard some of my story, although only one person here knows most of the details. I haven't shared with many because the one thing I never wanted was sympathy and this story as you will see has a happy ending.

Nine years ago I was diagnosed with CML...Chronic Myleogenic Leukemia. It was especially rough being in a foriegn country and having to use a different health system than you are used to. I'm not going to go into details of the hard times that I went through as that's not the point here. I will just say that with the help of a GREAT doctor, support of family and friends and some expensive medication I have gotten through it.

SO HERE IS WHY WE ARE CELEBRATING...I HOPE TOGETHER:hug:

I went in for a big test today...not going to explain what kind, but basically I had some bone marrow removed from my chest. This test is the best test to determine diseased cells. My tests had been going well for awhile now and this was actually scheduled for June, but my doctor felt we could move it up. Well after a long day at the hospital today and having a hole drilled in my chest and then waiting for hours I got the results. So here I am to share with you the results. I will just say it without alot of medical jargon.

I AM CANCER FREE!!!!!!:hsd:

Diseased cells were undetectable.

Is there a chance of a recurrence? Well yes....I also have to still continue taking medication and having checks, but for today ....

WE CELEBRATE!!!!:goofy:

Now to get to the auction part of this and why it is special.

WHAT YOU ARE BIDDING ON

Pin 62235: DisneyShopping.com - Mickey Butterfly Series Pin

Why this pin?

Well to me this pin represents exactly what I am looking for from you. A pin that represents life, the beauty of life, the celebration of life.
The butterflys to me show coming out of a coccoon and starting life fresh. It also shows that life is short, to be cherished and enjoyed.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BID:

This is where I usually list those most wanted Goofys or other things I like. BUT that is not what this auction is about. This is about you celebrating with me. EVERY single pin whether open edition, limited edition or whatever will have an EQUAL chance of winning. All I want from you is to take the time out to think about life...find a pin that you are willing to trade that shows how you feel about celebrating being healthy, enjoying every minute you have. It doesn't matter the character. What matters is how you feel. I promise that I will NOT be tempted by even my grail pins in this auction...It is about the best pin that touches my heart. If you take the time to just give a brief explaination why your bid is celebrating life your chances of winning will increase. Can you bid more than one pin? Sure, but again it is about how the pin or pins make you feel and or touch my heart.
Whatever pin wins will be framed with today's test results and hung on my wall to remind me to "CELEBRATE EVERYDAY!!"

***If you feel badly about participating in this auction then don't***
***If you or someone you know has a similaR situation and you have questions or want to talk just PM and I will give you my email**

I WANT AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO PARTICIPATE SO TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO HAVE A LOOK.

THIS AUCTION WILL BE GIVEN A FULL WEEK..SO IT WILL END WED. MAY 22ND @ 9:00 AM EST

I bid this pin as I feel you should enjoy every day you have here on this earth and appreciate the gifts in your life, expecially your family and friends, as you just don't know what the futures holds for you or them:

I have no pins in my collection or for trade that really express what I think you are looking for.

But let me just say that I am so happy for you! I have an aunt with terminal cancer... It is aweful, and she has basically given up. Cancer is a horrible horrible thing and you not only survived you beat it! Well done! Very well done! Be proud of yourself and enjoy every minute of your healthy new life!

I couldn't be happier for you, Wally. Stef and I will raise a glass to you soon at our favorite mixology bar in la! I've lost a lot of loved ones to illness, to find out even just one has beaten it is such an amazing thing. Congratulations and may you live the rest of your many years with new eyes!! I will be back to bid once I'm on my computer, right now I'm going to go do a happy happy dance and paint something!

Congrats! Thats amazing!

I want to bid on this auction. I know we are supposed to bid only Disney pins but I have one that I just think is right for this moment. This pin is very special to me and I think it might be even more special to you!

A little bit history behind it. My mom had cancer. She got rid of it but still suffers hard from the results of operations and treatment. I also had a friend who died from it, leaving her husband and 10 weeks old baby. They had to take the baby out 10 weeks premature to start her on treatment but it was to late and she died on the day the baby was supposed to be born. One of my daughters "boyfriend" (they are only 8) struggles with a brain toumor. I can say that I really hate cancer.

My daughters also have a lot of health issues (and me to), all uncurable, and we spend a lot of time at hospitals. The thing I have understood is that the things that counts here in love is family friends and love. We dont collect money in the bank, we spend them and collect memories together instead. We try to really live our life to our fullest, everyday! And we always tell eachother how mow we love eachother. Several times a day. You can never say that to many times!

And so the pin, this is my bid:

Hi Wally,

I'd like to think of something to bid here, to help you celebrate! This is such wonderful news! I want to find a pin that fits just right.

I have lost my Mom and my Grandfather (my Mom's Dad) to cancer. My Mom was diagnosed in January 2011 with Stage 4 Uterine cancer and started chemo right away. Just one month prior I got engaged and my Mom was so excited for me and my (now) husband. It was in her nature to give and want very much to be involved in a lot of the planning, but with her diagnosis the month after, some things needed to be adjusted a bit. We didn't want to wait very long to get married (we'd already been dating for 7 years), so we set the date for May 2011 and my Mom and Dad offered to hold the wedding at their home (which is beautiful and full of gardens). Time seemed to be going quickly as my Mom's health changed so rapidly, we decided to keep the wedding very small to avoid any extra stress for her.

To makes things a little crazier, two weeks before the wedding I had an annual exam (and let's just say I wasn't good about going to the doctor myself) and discovered that I had a tumor on my left ovary that was 8" in diameter and needed to be removed immediately. Three days later I had a C-Section and had a 5lb tumor removed. With all this I needed to rest as much as possible so I could fly across country (at the time I was living in San Jose, CA and my family is in FL) to get to my wedding- no we were not going to cancel or postpone, we were too close. Suffice it to say I was on a few pain killers during my wedding, but I made it, and my Mom was there too. This may sound strange, but it brought us so much closer together to be going through something similar at the same time. She wanted to take care of me and I wanted to take care of her. My wedding is one of the best memories of my life because of all this chaos that was going on. Not only is it special because it began my marriage, but it has special meaning to me with my Mom and leaves a beautiful picture in my mind of her.

To make a long story short (or was it still too long?), I still have to keep a tight watch on my health and go to the doctor regularly (especially with my family's history), but at this point, my tumor was borderline and my last tests showed good health. My Mom lost her battle in November 2011, but she is the strongest woman I've ever known and although I miss her everyday, she gives me the strength to celebrate life each and everyday. I got a tattoo in remembrance of her last summer, of a Swallow flying above the sun rising through the clouds. Swallows represent a safe return home and this tattoo represents to me, my Mom's safe return home, to Heaven.

I don't say all this to be a sad story, thinking about my Mom makes me so happy and I appreciate any opportunity to share about her with others. I am so happy to celebrate life with you today and hope that you have so many more joyful celebrations to come!

All the best!
Melanie
