OMG my wallet is going to suffer. I want pretty much everything on that list plus the 17 inch doll!
Why can't I make more money?? LOL
They released one more of the Art of Belle collection, and guys, I gotta say, this collection just seems so uninspired to me. Shame.
I guess, to make my sentiments really clear...
Recently, non-disney companies like Hot Topic and Walgreens have released disney merchandise. They don't always use actual movie footage, so they would use what I like to call "professional fan-art".
The art of Aurora and The art of Belle look like professional fan-art. They don't match the high level of quality that the art of Ariel set up. It's kind of frustrating.
Like compare the art of ariel collection to the Belle and Aurora ones.
You can clearly see the dip in quality for the paintings used. It's really sad. I remember the feeling I got when I first saw the art of ariel collection, I was immediately sucked in and mesmerized by it. That feeling never happened with Belle, Aurora, or Jasmine.
My complains with Jasmine was that half of it seemed like it was old concept art.
I mean, even looking at some of the art, it's sad to see Disney rely so heavily on Steve Thompson art style. Honestly, it's kind of frustrating, I have nothing against the guy and I love his art, but a set like this needs variety. The Art of Aurora looked so horrible because they all seemed uninspired. The art was far less detailed than the ariel ones. Steve Thompson has a knack for making things way too simple, when they're not. But man, when he attempts to make highly detailed images, he soars.
The art of Belle and Art of Aurora's detail is nothing like the ones he did for Ariel:
And he is sooo capable of doing the same thing for other princesses. I mean, I just googled "Steve Thompson Belle" and I saw this beautiful sketch which could look amazing in this line if completed!
Just look at the detail in her dress, it's amazing!
I guess that is exactly what I think is missing from this collection.
Exciting news! Disney Movie Club members (including myself) got a confirmation via DMC's monthly pamphlets and order forms that the new Beauty and the Beast Blu-ray goes up for pre-order on DMC tomorrow! It's being branded as a 25th Anniversary Edition, but the movies artwork via Itunes shows that its considered a part of the signature collection due to the Walt Disney signature. So excited!
Omg I LOVE IT!! The artwork is beautiful!! Thank you for sharing TheDisneyFanatic!!
Just look at the detail in her dress, it's amazing!
