Art of Belle Collection

Man... those are so disappointing!

The Art of Ariel series was amazing. Each art piece was unique and had life.
Art of Aurora stumbled because they were all drawn by the same person, so they all seemed the same.
Art of Jasmine was bad... Like only 1 new art piece and the rest was just concept art from the past.

I was hoping that Belle would be like Ariel... I guess not..

I think its a little early to be judging the designs simply based on these three shirts. Though I will admit that I am not a huge fan of these designs. All of them are cute, but the only one I really care for is the one by Steve Thompson on the white shirt. I've always loved his artwork. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the other merch looks like!

I absolutely love them! I'm a huge Belle fan and I'm so happy we have an Art Of Belle collection coming soon. The third one looks a bit gaudy to me with all the sparkles so I may pass on that one. We'll just have to see what new Belle merchandise this will bring.

Ooh, I'm excited that an Art of Belle collection is coming out soon! ^^ Can't wait to see all the merch.

Sounds like a pretty nice line up! Really interested in seeing the mugs (the rose one in particular) and the tumbler. I don't think that will be all of the merchandise that we will get though (there isn't any mention of a pin or pin set for example).

I'm almost sure there will also be a pin set and an ornament set. If there isn't an ornament set I will be super sad. Oh, and there is usually a snow globe too.

OMG my wallet is going to suffer. I want pretty much everything on that list plus the 17 inch doll!
Why can't I make more money?? LOL

They released one more of the Art of Belle collection, and guys, I gotta say, this collection just seems so uninspired to me. Shame.

I guess, to make my sentiments really clear...
Recently, non-disney companies like Hot Topic and Walgreens have released disney merchandise. They don't always use actual movie footage, so they would use what I like to call "professional fan-art".

The art of Aurora and The art of Belle look like professional fan-art. They don't match the high level of quality that the art of Ariel set up. It's kind of frustrating.
Like compare the art of ariel collection to the Belle and Aurora ones.

You can clearly see the dip in quality for the paintings used. It's really sad. I remember the feeling I got when I first saw the art of ariel collection, I was immediately sucked in and mesmerized by it. That feeling never happened with Belle, Aurora, or Jasmine.
My complains with Jasmine was that half of it seemed like it was old concept art.

I mean, even looking at some of the art, it's sad to see Disney rely so heavily on Steve Thompson art style. Honestly, it's kind of frustrating, I have nothing against the guy and I love his art, but a set like this needs variety. The Art of Aurora looked so horrible because they all seemed uninspired. The art was far less detailed than the ariel ones. Steve Thompson has a knack for making things way too simple, when they're not. But man, when he attempts to make highly detailed images, he soars.
The art of Belle and Art of Aurora's detail is nothing like the ones he did for Ariel:

And he is sooo capable of doing the same thing for other princesses. I mean, I just googled "Steve Thompson Belle" and I saw this beautiful sketch which could look amazing in this line if completed!

Just look at the detail in her dress, it's amazing!

I guess that is exactly what I think is missing from this collection.

^ Totally agree! This picture of Belle is gorgeous! I hope it's featured in the collection!!

Exciting news! Disney Movie Club members (including myself) got a confirmation via DMC's monthly pamphlets and order forms that the new Beauty and the Beast Blu-ray goes up for pre-order on DMC tomorrow! It's being branded as a 25th Anniversary Edition, but the movies artwork via Itunes shows that its considered a part of the signature collection due to the Walt Disney signature. So excited!

Omg I LOVE IT!! The artwork is beautiful!! Thank you for sharing TheDisneyFanatic!!

Yeah. The art is surprisingly decent for a Disney released.

I would have preferred to see more of the beast though. Angle him higher and make him smaller.

This IS a really nice sketch, and if you look close there are his notes on the sketch. It makes it seem like this is either for a statue or a doll or something. It says stuff like "real mirror, metallic gold, gem stones, earrings." I'm curious if this was or will be made into anything.

I think really it's just a matter of taste. I am a huge Ariel fan and I hated the art of Ariel collection... To me a lot of the art they used for the majority of the products looked like a high school art class project... But again a matter of taste. I loved the Aurora collection and I actually like a lot of this new belle collection (although I will say they picked some odd choices considering belles character) but I like them because they're cute and girly and that's what I personally like...But I can see why it wouldn't appeal to others... just like I can see how the art of Ariel appeals to other Ariel fans.

i do get what you mean though all three collections are more like new fan art than concept art from the original films.

Yahoo Movies released a new trailer for the film that confirms a September 20th release date for the new 25th anniversary edition on Blu-ray (September 8th release for digital and DMA). This is a bit different for Disney considering that previous films have been released in early to mid October, but this also means that we will probably be getting upcoming dolls and merch sooner than usual.

Along with that, several new items were released on Radio Disney Club, including a look at some upcoming Art of Belle merch like the tumbler and a mug of Chip (I'm assuming that it's a part of the collection, but I could be wrong)

Better look at the upcoming deluxe doll set and mini dolls set.

There were quite a few more items shown on Radio Disney Club, like this Mrs. Potts tea set, but I figured these would be the items that people would be the most interested in here on the forums.

Love that mini doll set! I prefer them cause they're adorable and don't take up much space.

i think that new chip is cute but I think I prefer the Disney parks one... Idk tho.
