Brave Pin
Seeing as how he's currently the only one selling the pins, and seeing as how people are actually paying what he's asking for them, I guess that is the current market value. Of course we all know how volatile the pin market can be.

Supply and demand tells us that more people will see the demand for the pin, and therefore more people will begin selling it. Then there will be more supply, and less demand. And most of the diehard fans who are willing and/or able to pay high prices will have already bought their set, so there will be no one left willing to pay that much. So the price will go down. I can't really blame him for trying to get as much money as he can, while he still can.

Also, to be fair, he did start the price fairly low on the first one ($50). Who can blame him for seeing if he can get more out of it? He is not a pin collector, much less a forum member, so he has no feelings of responsibility to the community to help us out. He's just a guy with bills to pay, who is making the most of an opportunity.

The only thing I'm concerned about with the ebay listings, is that it appears that he is misrepresenting the edition size. But we don't know for sure that this is on purpose. Perhaps he has not opened any of the packages to look at the back of the pins. Perhaps the edition size was originally scheduled to be 300, and the Studio Store sales clerk didn't know they bumped it up, and told him that it was LE300. In addition, regarding the LE discrepancy, I will say that it is up to the buyer to be informed about what they are purchasing. And my guess is that if someone is willing to shell out $150, they are probably a big enough fan that they have already found the PinPics listing, and they already know the real edition size.

*Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with the ebay seller, just in case anyone was getting ideas. Haha!

.

Amy: I truly hope you can get your hands on the logo pin (and the Merida/Mumbear one too)! Remember, no pin is unattainable. You were actually a part of the multi-person trade that taught me that lesson!

Good luck to everyone wanting these pins!

The only person selling it on ebay originally had no feedback, and last I looked only had 1 feedback as a buyer.

150 pin is crazy enough and then you add to it a newly signed up seller using the same photo for each pin as the price goes up each time they sell a pin, from 50, 75, 100, 150, and now 175??

WOAH! I can't believe how much the price has sky rocketed on the bay.... Definitely going to be a dream pin if that's the case..lol

Awesome train of thought Pamela, I hope this really happens and I guess it will, especially considering it is listed as LE 650 and it's release price seems to be a measley $7.00.

I am not 100% on the last sentence though, especially he is kinda misleading about the LE size - although I still have my doubts that this pin is LE 650. What can I say, there IS one born every minute indeed

On a different note, are Disney/Pixar employees allowed to do this? Or is there a loophole like someone buys it as a "gift" to give to a friend or family member and their friend/fam. member sells the "gift". Looking at how this seller has a new id and almost no fb, I got the impression that this account might be created for these sales.

Great point, Selen. I had also wondered if he was an actual employee or just someone who happened to be invited to the Studios that day. (If that was the case, talk about "right place, right time"!)

I'm not totally sure what Pixar Studios policy is on reselling Pixar items, although I could give a very educated guess. But I have noticed that items from the Pixar Studios Store are not often sold on ebay. So that could be an indication that it is against their policy.

I just wonder about shill bidders. I've seen it on pins before. Someone lists them the day of release as a 1-day only auction. They then have multiple accounts from buddies or themselves bid the item way up. Then they list a bunch Buy-It-Now for 75% of the first one so everyone thinks they are getting a deal on it. Happened with Tangled PODM...

Pixar has a real tight leash on these Studio Store pins...there were no extras made for the pin (no allowance for defects) and everything was shipped to them (except for a couple of reference pins for the design team vault)

I just wonder about shill bidders.

From what I have seen, at least this one seller has always listed it as a BIN, not even OBO. It was never offered auction style so far. It sold every time although the $175 did not go through and (s)he reduced it to $150 again.

Is there anyone who can confirm the LE size for sure ??

Not yet, but I found out that I managed to get one afterall, kindof a long story, and it's now on the way. As soon as it gets here, I'll see if maybe the back might help here.

Oh, congrats And I am jelly although I do not care for the design of the pin much, I still want it. Pin greed is horrible

Fortunately I got one while the price was still low. I didn't realize it though thanks to a little eBay quirk during checkout. But it got sorted and he said it was shipped out, so I guess it'll be here soon. I'll be sure to check what it says, I'm pretty curious myself considering at the time I got it, I hadn't seen the pinpics page for it yet

Surprise! The pin came in the mail TODAY!! And, as predicted, the back says LE 650, NOT 300 as the seller is advertising. So I'm going to email him and let him know that he might want to at least change that in the description, considering the run is now more than double what he is claiming. We'll see what happens though. It's still a really cute pin!
