Alrightly, I am getting low on my LBE's (little bubble envelopes) so I started hunting around. In the process i looked up LBE's, bubble wrap and those little jewelry bags folks use....

LBE bulk::

  1. Uline.com has several sizes and styles on this page. My favorite and best deal so far from them is the 6x10... it is 250 LBE's for $39.00... That breaks down to .15c each!!! wow! at 6x10 they are great for sending pins in, and can be cut in half if you want too!!!
  2. Staples.com has 4x7 LBE's... 250 for $54.99. Heres the page. the breakdown is .21c each. At 4x7 they are smaller, and would likely not be able to be cut in half for double use.
  3. Business-supply.com has 8.5x12 LBE's, 100 per box. at $36.53 right now... here the page. breaks down to .36c each. and being as big as they are they are definately able to be cut in half for a double use.
  4. eBay occasionally has a good deal and one I found today was $23.99 plus 9.99 shipping for 300 of the 5x10 size. not bad at all! it was like .11c each this way.
  5. Walmart.com: pack of 7 for $16.99.
  6. Samsclub: pack of 100 for $34.88.


For bubble wrap.....
  1. Uline.com has several different things... Bulk despensing box of standard bubble wrap is $39.00 for a 12x175 inch roll. not bad at all. They also have bubble baggies, which are perfect for your higher end on card pins. Those come in several sizes. And again, the bulk rate is pretty darn good.
  2. Sendsupplies.com has a great deal for bubble wrap right now. heres the page 750 linear feet... No clue what that means. BUT they dont gaurentee color or width, and the bubbles are sometimes a bit less than perfect. just that you get a LOT of it for $44.97... the page said free shipping too. Since we cut it down for individual pin wrapping, a bubble row being less than perect doesnt matter much.

Clear zip top bags are great for protecting your PoDM's, dangles, jewel/gemstone and moving element pins.

Clear Jewelry bags:
  1. Uline.com can supply a bunch of different sizes for your needs. Heres the page The 2x3 bags are $14.00 per 1000 count container...
  2. Jewelry or Gem expo's often have vendors with awesome deals.
  3. Fetpak.com has them in multiple sizes and even in other colors... heres the page 1000 count boxes can be gotten for $6.95 and up.

What do you use to protect your pins?

If you know a place with great deals, post it on here and I will gladly add it to the lists.

I always get my stuff at Sam's club. I'll have to check the prices again when I go this week. I can't remember how much it was exactly, I just remember it was less than Wal-Mart.

I buy my business shipping supplies from a seller at "that place" called Valuemailers. Not sure if I'm allowed to say that. They have (250) 6 X 10 LBE for $34.95 with free shipping. They also sell (1000) small 2 X 3 zip bags for $8.36 with free shipping. I have used this company for years and they are great!
 
Bryana, we can say ebay, we just cant name the seller's full ebay name, or give a link to their sales. IF they have a separate website we can list and link that as well.

I knew i could say ebay. I was trying to be stealthy...LOL because i did say the sellers name. Wasn't sure if I could say the sellers name considering they aren't pin related.
 
Why spend money on something you already have? The cheapest LBE you're ever going to find is those used LBEs that you receive in the mail. I don't care what it looks like when I send/receive a package... I'd rather recycle then waste resources. REUSE. REDUCE. RECYCLE.

I understand that if you're only selling pins, you'll need to buy more eventually, but if they're for trading? Then please reuse!!

Also, do you think it's overkill to wrap a pin in bubblewrap, then stick it in a LBE? I've done this before and always think it's a little wasteful... sure, it's an added protection but the pins aren't made of glass! A good amount of bubblewrap around a pin, then shipped in a regular paper envelope is just as good. I know for expensive LE pins, shipping them with extra padding shows the recipient how much you care for their purchase/trade but really, do we need all that waste?
 

Yes. This! I reuse and reuse no matter how ugly.

I personally feel it is overkill to bubble wrap. I stick the pins on a 4x6 card in a way they don't touch each other. I usually only bubble wrap if I have a lot of pins going out just to make sure nothing touches each other.
 

Oh believe me, I re-use, but with all the zap mayhems and my dlr pick up sales.... I am getting low again. lol and some folks might need the info. :wiggle:
 
You can get free bubble wrap from greeting card stores that sell collectibles. For some reason they throw it away by the bag full. Just ask. I also ask friends and family to save me bubble wrap whenever they order something on line.

As for adding bubble wrap to a pin that I mail in LBEs, absolutely!! It's not overkill. I get LBEs, with unwrapped pins, that get crushed by the PO's machines. There are holes smashed/torn into the LBE. I want to make sure the pin arrives in one piece. It doesn't cost any more to put the pin in bubble wrap.
 
I do not feel that just the LBE bubble layer is sufficient to protect the posts of the pin. I wrap my pins in bubble wrap to protect the posts from damage, not the pin face. Typically My pins shipped get 3 wraps with the bubble sheet, and then go into the mailer.

I have received pins loose in the LBE and the posts have been damaged. I wont let that happen to a pin I ship, regardless of edition size or value.

I have received pins wrapped in a layer of bubble sheet, but in a basic paper mailer... the paper mailers tend to get ripped during shipping. I don't want a pin to get lost in the post office machines either, so LBE it is. LBEs by nature are sturdier.

I wont risk a pin i ship to somone getting damaged or lost. I do not feel it is overkill to wrap a pin in bubble sheet and then put it in a mailer. 15 layers of bubble sheet??? maybe a bit excessive. lol
 
Well then I will always bubblewrap a pin before putting it into a LBE!!

But I'm not buying anymore of those envelopes. :lol:

This. There's no harm in being too careful, as anything can get damaged in transit. Also, the bubble wrap can be reused by the recipient, so it's not entirely wasteful
 
I reuse constantly unless the envelope is beyond repair lol. I also have enough bubble wrap to last a life time from when I packed up the house from the flood, haha. I unwrapped all my belongings and have piles of the stuff in a bin in the basement!!
 

Well if my husband grabs the mail before me, he cuts the tops off of the envelopes to open them. :facepalm: So no reusing there really... other than that I keep and reuse LBEs that are in good shape and also any bubble wrap that might be wrapped around my received pins.
 

Oh you can just packing tape those back up!!! I cut LBE's in half and get 2 for one! More tape, but it works fine.
 
I was going to say, Tape costs too! We do reuse LBE's but only to a point. Once they get shabby looking we may reuse them for the bubble portion but not as a mailer anymore. Bubble wrap can be obtained at most furniture stores as their furniture is all bubble wrapped. I use to get the bubble wrap where I worked from the chairs they bought. We definitely recycle but only to a point. We buy our supplies from EBay but since it has been a while I do not know the name at the top of my head and the last time we bought we had to find a new one as ours was no longer selling it. I still think the Bay is the best for shipping supplies. I think ours came in at .11 each!
 
I use the bubble wrap they use to deliver my cat food and supplies Bubble envelopes I buy at Action, a cheap Dutch store, comparable with the U.K. Boyes or Wilkinson's. I think they cost 0,90 cents for 6 big ones. Think I'll try the link with the smaller ones, thanks!
