Now that I've learned a little more about pins.. I realized I was taken advantage of a lot as a kid.
I always wanted to go to Downtown Disney to trade at the tables and there was also a woman down there who offered me to trade her Common Hidden mickey pin if I went into the store to buy a $15.00 for her. Every time I would get a what I considered good LE pin I would want to trade it for something better, but lookin back I realize that most of them are fakes
Luckily I won't have to worry about that as much on here, hopefully I can actually get some uncommon hidden Mickeys for my $15.00 pins!

I remember when I first started trading... some of those people at the tables would tell me, "go in the store and buy me this or that and the pin you want is yours." Well, I did that twice and the next time someone told me to go in the store and buy something, I said "sure!" and just hightailed it out of there without saying a word.

Thankfully the pins I got were pretty good and NOT hidden mickeys!

Never again.

It is disappointing that some people will take advantage of other people even Kids. It is the sad thing about our hobby. I have been collecting for about 3-4 yrs. I have only been trading for about a year. I really liked my Sleeping Beauty Collection and It kept growing. I would always buy from Ebay especially the cheap hidden mickey pins that had sleeping beauty on them. I was so proud that I was getting a deal and I did not have to trade just buy them on Ebay! But when my other collections started to grow I decided to start trading. I soon learned that all the cheap Ebay buying was a poor choice. Most of the pins I bought were fake. I have been trying to re-trade to replace all the fakes I have. I was a lesson learned. Now, I am much more picky on who I buy or trade from.

Yes dont feel bad. It happens to everyone..and honestly if u only lose out on a few $15 pins ur doing good..
Lol iv made horriabul trades before...i had 6 bts little mermaid..
Now..zero...boooo! And i have nothing to show for it..

That's why they called us newbies, but now we have learned. It's like the saying, "fool me once-shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me". It still happens when we visit parks. We aren't heavy traders, rarely trade (Paula says I'm antisocial) and we look at books and point. The traders "suggest" we get a pin inside to trade. We just pass. :nono:

When i was first starting up, I ended up buying a whole set of pins because the guy wanted one of the pins in the set and would trade me for the one i wanted. The pin he traded me was a fake while i spent a good $30 on the set.

But now I know better...

That happened to my boyfriend and I when we first started. We'd buy a pin for hidden mickeys but we also have done some good trades where we've traded a set of hidden mickeys for nice le pins. So it's not all bad. You just gotta learn from your mistakes and try to take note of who you trade with.

I am still clueless, afraid to purchase any of the LE pins due to fakes or not knowing what they should truly sell for. So tempted with some of the pins on ebay but not going to do it. I will stick with my basic unlimited editions for now.

I thankfully had only the bad experience of buying a scrapper lot off eBay when I first learnt about pin trading and traded them at the park. I feel bad I unknowingly put scrappers on the lanyard but I got 90% scrappers back xD on the othe side if the buying to trade spectrum I sometimes offer to buy pins for trade if I have no or poor matches, but I check both pins out and have gotten some very good pins for good pins I have bought for other members
