Buying pins on Facebook

Hi all! I follow a Facebook Disney pin group were a lot of people post their trades, sales, and lucky finds. I've just been a lurker so far but someone posted with a sale board and something caught my eye. All pins on it are 20$ (expensive as far as the majority of prices on the group) and includes the Mickey\Pluto 2015 flower and garden show pin. We were just at Epcot but I couldnt find a pin I liked (only donald and buzz were left) I really would like to buy this pin but I'm not sure how safe it is. She says she has 2 but I'm not sure why she would be selling them so cheaply (more expansive then the parks but still). In the picture they are still attached to the origional backer.

Has anyone bought from a Facebook group like this? Since she uses PayPal is it safe? Are there fakes of the flower and garden show pins already? Thanks for your help!

I don't collect the Flower and Garden pins but $20 for a dated event pin doesn't sound too cheap to me. I have bought pins from people on some of the big FB groups that have moderators. They will ban people from the group if they sell bad pins or don't send pins that you order. If you aren't sure about a seller's reputation you could send a private message to the group's moderator.

Also be sure to -ALWAYS- run the payment through paypal as goods. NEVER do Friends or Family. This covers you in case they screw you over.

I've purchased through FB, but through a "vetted" member. Two things you can do- PM them and ask if they have any references anywhere (like other members, here at DPF, or dizpins) and then as a4matte above said, buy as Goods only. You're covered by PayPal if anything goes wrong. If the seller won't sell as Goods (and you even offer to cover the fees), then that is a sign that you shouldn't go through with it.

Ive made a few purchases on Facebook of newly released pins, $20 plus postage tends to be the "standard" price charged. The purchases I made were from people I didnt know, and I received the pins no problem. As others have said pay as goods via Paypal and you should be covered.

I don't know anything about the Flower Garden pins, so I don't know how good that price is, but here's my advice…

Firstly: If you're using Paypal, make sure not to send money as Gift to Friends/Family. Sending as Payment for Goods protects you in case you never get the pin, or you get a counterfeit. IF THE PERSON YOU ARE BUYING FROM INSISTS YOU SEND AS FRIENDS/FAMILY, EVEN IF YOU OFFER TO PAY MORE TO COVER THE FEE YOURSELF, DON'T TRUST THEM.

Secondly: Don't forget, you can always ask someone for references. Chances are, if they have been trading or selling Disney pins for a while, they have accrued some, either on Dizpins Reference Center, here on DPF, or or eBay, and they can send you a link. I ask for references a lot if I'm trading or buying from a new person.

$20 is fine. The pin itself was $14.95 or $16.95 + tax + shipping. So basically it's retail + tax + shipping.

Yes i have seen it too, generally nothing really bad or wrong with it because of the way it has things going it does carry a lot that has enough of a way for those that are into such things because buying through FB might work differently because of the way it has an impact of it
