I got this sorcerer mickey pin as a gift from a friend that used to be in charge of the pin vault at Disney. I've been searching Pinpics for a while and I still can't find it. Does anybody know what the Pinpics number is for this pin? Or even any information about it? Like when it was released? Or where?
This is my first pin related post...I hope I did everything correctly.

Cute pin!

Sorcerer Mickeys can be hard to find because there are just so many of them. My first look didn't turn up anything, but that doesn't surprise me. The fact that this pin was made in Taiwan, and the production style (the flat gold, with I'm guessing epoxy covering so its smooth) indicates to me that this pin most likely predates the start of Official Disney Pin Trading. Prior to Fall of 1999, many Disney pins were made in Taiwan. It seems like as Disney increased production to meet the untapped pin trading market, they switched production to China. But if it's older than official pin trading then sometimes those pins "fall through the cracks" and do not get entered into Pinpics.

I did find this pin http://gallery.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/group.cgi?group=276&pin=7947 which features an identical pose as your pin. The only one I could find like that. It's obviously not your pin, with the additional banner, but I point it out because that one is apparently from 1988, so perhaps your pin is from that same era?
 
I went through all 18 pages on pinpics and didn't see this exact pin. The fact that it says Taiwan on it indicates it is from the 80 or 90's.
 
It looks a lot like the JDS disney store pins that came in a box with two films featured, so maybe they did fantasia? I have hercules ones that look very similar from Japan Disney Store 15th Anniversary Commemorative pin. From the "Fabulous Assorted Book" series. Limited edition
 
I'm stumped too. I suspect it isn't on Pinpics - it should have been easy to find unless 'Taiwan' was left out of the description.
