I started to delve into customizing - never ever tried it before. This is pretty tough work, but it's fun. I'm still trying to find a good doll wig and have to make some adjustments, but not bad for my first attempt. Started with Mulan. I know it seems like an odd choice, but her lips looked a lot like Jessica's to me, the shape, plus the mouth was closed.

Great job! Doll customizing is definitely a lot of work. I've only done it once and I thought my fingers were going to fall off after re-rooting. Lol So even though I want to do it again sometime, I just...haven't. Haha Kudos to you and I look forward to seeing the final product!

Hahahahahaha! That second picture was so creepy and morbid.
But that face painting is AMAZING! It looks factory made. I cannot wait to see the final product. When you are done, you should send a picture to Disney saying, "If I can make one by hand...then you can mass produce by machine."

Great work! It's a shame the DS are on those skinny bodies, maybe in future you could look into rebodying her on the old Barbie style torsos. Maybe someone could advise if it's possible with DS dolls?

I've seen different doll bodies that would work, but I don't know if the doll head would fit on there correctly - AND it's so much easier to find clothes for a regular bodied 12" doll than something out of proportion. So I guess I'll have to look into padding her dress in certain areas lol

Thanks everyone

Her eyes look perfect! I can honestly say that I like her face better than the doll versions Disney has made. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Um...Dear ImNotBad,
POST MORE PROGRESS PICTURES!
Sincerely,
TinkerTigg
P.S. I am not patient and since your work is already looking amazing, my lack of patience is even greater.

Seriously though, your first pictures look amazing and I can't wait to see how your finished product looks in the end.

Um...Dear ImNotBad,
POST MORE PROGRESS PICTURES!

LOL It's a slow process from here on I guess. Need a more accurate wig. I ordered a dress and purple gloves so they should be here this week. As for shoes, I'm not sure what I'm gonna do there. The Disney female dolls have flat feet so it makes it a little difficult to find heels to fit that. Tonight I applied the matte and gloss finish to the paint. I used matte on the brows and eyelids. I used gloss on the lips and eyes. I wanted to do some fixing to the right eyebrow and other stuff but I didn't want to chance making a bigger mistake and left it as it. I just did a little touch up to the eyes and iris'. Gonna let it dry overnight then maybe put the wig back on and see if I have something to dress her in for the time being. Heres a photo:

SWEET!
She is looking amazing so far. Were it not for the first post here, I'd not be able to guess that this doll started out as a Mulan. Those lips and eyes are phenomenal.

AAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! OH MY GOD THAT IS SO COOL!!!!!!!!
With the wig and the gloves and the dress, you've already done AMAZINGLY!!!!!!!!
Do you have a sequin dress or fabric on the way?
And...random question...how are you going to..."enhance" her to her correct "comical proportions"?
I just can't get over that face painting though. It is just beautifully done!

I know that it's a temporary outfit but I LIKE IT!! I think the pattern on it is very pretty! You are doing an amazing job on her so far

Ok, wow, so customizing Ariel into Jessica was Even Harder. Mulan seemed to be a breeze, even for my first try at painting. Ariel had so many challenges. I guess the big smile was one. I didn't realize how much of a smile there was til the paint was removed. Anyway, I need to do some touch ups tomorrow but my eyes are crossing from straining so much, so here's what I got so far.
