What no one ever tells you about collecting is the -hundreds- of hours spent sorting, organizing, and cataloging said pins and adding them to databases and cross referencing to see if theres missing data you can add or entire pins or changes to the collections info. and then the organzing and reorganizing of your pins as you get new ones and move along older ones. and by gosh by golly. am i IN IT y'all.

(not pictured: my open pin trading book and all the pins i took out of it)

anyone else wanna share pics of their pin (dis)organising process? PXL_20251215_171146966.jpg

Ha! I just spent my weekend catching up with the organization of my pins.

Pin and Pop trading actually has equal parts disorganization and reorganziation as I dig through traders to list on table and then put the ones that don't trade back so I can find what I need again. Putting everything away post trade arcade is an absolute must for me or I will get so far behind and my pins will become chaos.

Some of us love the organizing part. 😀

Honestly, I have almost as much fun redoing my bag after trading as I do the trading itself. 😀

UPDATE: i ran out of room in my pin bag.

Thinking of making a display for my travel pins, my family probs wouldnt be opposed because i can convince them that theyre similar too, but more interesting than, photographs. But thats a short term solution.

why are all the pin storage books so gosh darn pricey?? i logically understand that they need to be durable and theyre an investment to protect the pins i bought yadayadayada but i already spent *cough* on pins this year.

i guess its going to be a trip to my ex job and 4 hrs of arts and crafts whilst i macgyver my own.

if 8 or whatever year old me only knew what they were getting into.........

Storage bags are definitely a challenge. I only use the older disney-direct ones which you can't just buy in a store any longer so it's ebay for me. They come up less and less these days and sometimes the bidding gets fierce. So I try to grab them when I see them at a good price and generally stay one or two ahead.

It also gets tricky when a collection outgrows its bag. I don't necessarily want to donate a full other bag to it right away so they usually start off as shared and then gets more focused as I see which pins I'm getting more of. For example, my NBC recently filled and I started a new one for it, but also have my OTPs in that one. I actually thought I would move the OTPs at some point but with more still being released, it might end up being the NBCs that are going to need a new home.

I'm contemplating letting go of a couple of smaller OLD Disney pin bags as I've simply outgrown them. They're well used but still usable if you're looking for small ones. I'm open to selling or trading them if you're ever in the DLR area. 🙂
