I am honored to be taking over for David (docfish2u) for the RAK attacks.

I am now taking nominations for December's RAK victim. I will announce the winner around November 30/December 1st.

RAK= Random Act of Kindness.

This is a wonderful thing that we do each month for a member of our family here at DPF.

Please send nominations in by November 29th (end of day) so that I see them on November 30th.

On or about November 30th or December 1st, I will PM everybody that has signed up who the month's "victim" is. Then you have around 2 weeks to gather whatever you want to send (art, tasty treats, cards or pins) to me so I can box everything up and send a large care package to the lucky person selected. I'd like to get all items by December 18th if that's possible!

Please pm me the nominations, do not post them here!!!

If you have signed up for it in the past and no longer want to be involved please pm me a note.

If you want to join in and be part of this wonderful thing we do for members here please post below. You can participate any or every month you like. You will not be sent to pin prison if you don't participate.

Bump up for this! I am contemplating about making a change in how RAK packages are sent. Rather than send to me to ship at once (in one large box), I was thinking possibly that we could each ship our own packages to the RAK winner/victim. We coordinate a time (during a one week time period) that we all ship to the person and then that person gets multiple packages.

Or do you think getting one box full of packages is nicer? If you were the RAK recipient, would you prefer one large box full of packages? Or would you prefer multiple packages coming in during one week? obviously, the first RAK package would probably ruin the "surprise", so maybe one large box is better. Ideas and thoughts are appreciated!
 
I can see an up side either way. One large box means you get it all at once, the surprise is sprung on you one time, and your (the recipient's) address is only given to one person. Lots of individual packages means a few days of something new every day, like a snowfall of presents.
 


Hey there.

This is how it's done on the art site in which i stole Rak attacks from! But from what I realized when doing this is that there's a huge difference in sending an art card and sending a pin.

The first few victims of the RAK attacks here on dpf actually had mail stolen and several gifts taken, which is why we switched to one big box. It seems a trickle of gifts over time to one person is better then the mass showing up on one day. Either the post ate them when so many arrived or something...but yeah.

Just a thought.

EDIT:

It also depends on the recipients location.

But the rak attacks name actually come from the slew of individual gifts you'd receive for like a week.

Just a FYI, I have sent PMs to everyone on the list above to let them know who December's RAK winner is! Later on this month, I am going to go through the list and delete people who haven't been on within the past 30-45 days (some of those names, I haven't seen post or been on in more than one month).
 
Ok, thanks! Not sure if we can make the 12/19/14 self-imposed deadline but if not, that's fine. With packages getting misplaced during the holidays, etc., maybe it would be better for the package to be sent in January
 
FYI: If you haven't already shipped your December RAK package, would you please wait until after Christmas to ship (so no earlier than December 29th)?

I noticed the post office has been really slow with packages shipped this week already! I shipped two packages out on the 15th and one finally made it to Los Angeles to be delivered yesterday (after four days) and one has made it to Los Angeles towards its journey to Central California TODAY (so delivery not til Saturday or Monday at the earliest). And, they are no longer scanning at all stops!

Plus, I just found out that they have changed their sorting. Before, first class mail and priority mail was sorted by zones at the post office where you dropped off your packages. Now, only priority mail is sorted by zones. Everything shipped from the post office in Riverside is heading to Long Beach for sorting by zone (whereas before, it used to go to San Bernardino, which is the main hub closest to Riverside.)
 
Daaaaangit! *headdesk* Will you be at the parks tomorrow by any chance? I'm planning on stopping by in the afternoon after my niece's dance recital.
