So I decided to spend a good amount on pin: 47440 that I just HAD to have and was told that this pin had no damage or imperfections...When I got the pin in the mail today it had scratch marks on the gold trim, a dent in the dress and a black paint mark (black paint might be defect but still) on the side of the gold trim.

Normally I wouldn't mind but for the price I paid this clearly was an unfair deal =/. I'm waiting on a response to see what happens but this is really really depressing!

I hate when that happens. I hope it works out for you! I've had both good and bad experiences with buying/trading pins. I once traded for a pin via Pinpics and received a worn pin (scratches, worn enamel). I asked to trade back, which the person agreed but after scolding me saying this should be expected as pins are traded a lot. Really? I want the pin for my collection and it's safe to assume we all want a pin in good condition. My other experience with a damaged pin was much better. He quickly exchanged the pin and apologized for the damage.

I hope it goes well for you!

That seems like some pretty bad flaws. I hate to ask this but.....is the pin real?

Hi Charles
You just took the words right out of my fingertips!beautiful pin too..I hope you get another one or at least a refund

So happy it worked out!
I got a partial refund which is fine with me since this pin was really hard to find. The flaws are troublesome but as you can see below you can only slightly tell.
You can only see the flaws completely like the pictures above when you shine light on it.

And yes it is real at least from what I can tell. There are no other unsettling factors besides the black paint spot, the pin hole dent and the scratch on the gold trim next to the dent. Almost as if they had another pin on top of it without the stopper. The back has the Disney catalog logo & China, © Disney, L.E. 1500 in a very tiny box, yet still clear in detail as a real denotes.

My camera really doesn't do this pin justice! X3

Goodness I seem to be having terrible luck lately in obtaining pins! =/

I don't mind that the Ariel compact is tarnished in the back but the pin stub was BENT...that was shocking to see after it was assured it was "new" got my money back of course but I was really annoyed!

This one is a bit more saddening, at first glance you see she has manufacturing defects, lots of black dots but that's understandable, as seen below.

What I can't get over is this....if you look at the top of her hair she has a HUGE scratch on it, almost like a crack, from top to bottom. Another part of her hair also has a thin scratch but its hard to get a picture of with the quality camera I have.

Sadly nothing I can do about the Designer Jasmine as it was a gift from the husband. Why oh why is my luck so bad! XP

1. Pins do tarnish and new pins are sometimes shipped from Disney with bent posts. I doubt I would look at the back of a pin that I bought (5+ years ago) if it was on its original card. I have gotten a pin with a bent back post that was on its original card (and still sealed in its original packaging) and you wouldn't be able to tell it was bent without removing the Mickey back;
2. The designer princess pins have major flaws on them (someone, I think sweetpin, wrote a thread about it a few months ago after buying the whole set).

Hope for better luck with future pins!

About the bent post: I bought a Star Wars Stitch pin AT Tomorrowland at Disneyland and it was bent just a little and it was wobbly. The same day across the park in Frontierland at the tables I found the WOC Crush pin and the guy offered to trade with me and as soon as the pins were traded he decided that I gave him a fake and wanted his pin back. I loudly said that I could show him the receipt for the pin to prove that I had bought the pin that same day and that he was rather rude for going back on the trade.
