Disney Dolls Appreciation Discussion

Congrats on your new doll! ^_^ She is lovely, I love the hair!

Thanks, I am really happy to have her in my collection. I just need to wait for the UK release so I can get a 2nd one and some of the other Brave goodies :hsd:

You're welcome, can't wait for you to add more photos of her and your other Animator/Toddler dolls! I am getting very excited for the UK Brave releases, I can't wait any longer! :eek2: Only another month or so, hopefully! *fingers crossed*

Congratulations with your most recent acquisition, Meriennes! I really look forward to Merrie's future adventures with your other play dolls. I saw your hair restyle for Merida --> Merrie on facebook, and she looks great! I am sure you are the envy of many a person east of the Atlantic right now for receiving her prior to the official European/British Brave product launch.

So I was going through my Disney Princess: the Ultimate Guide to the Magical Worlds book (the 2011 UK update that has the Rapunzel expansion), and I was looking at the back cover at Aurora, and I think that this modified version of her gown would be a great design for the 17" LE doll that we assume will eventually be released. This is, of course, a long-shot in wishful thinking, but I figured I would just get this out there just in case someone who is in charge of designing the Disney dolls sees this. I scanned the back cover picture for anyone who has not seen it yet:

I have no doubt that Aurora will again be featured in pink, since this has now become the official "look" for Aurora in product merchandising and character appearances in the Disney Parks. Also, since Cinderella, Jasmine, and Ariel are often garbed in blue, I can't see Disney also dressing Aurora in only blue, too. Since the 17" LE dolls' dresses are based heavily on their normal gowns, but with minor adjustments and embellishments, this would seem to fit the bill, and if done right, will make a fabulous gown for Aurora. Of course, I would hope that Disney will keep her hair down (unlike the Designer Aurora). I could see the skirt being made with alternating draping panels of dark rose pink satin and shimmery light pink chiffon. I like the combination fitted sleeve with the hanging sleeve over it. I also love her sheer pink cape in the back. I can still see the white shoulder line of the gown being a problem area when translating this design into an actual dress. Few, if anyone (not even the costumers for the Disney parks), have ever been able to make this area of her dress look good. The gemstone accents are really pretty, but the post-2010 17" LE dolls tend to only have those iron-on gemstone embellishments. I can still hope, though!

I swear Shiva, you're my Aurora mind-buddy or something. I think you're absolutely right about that being a good rendition for her 17" doll, and I too would love to see it in blue. I expect to have it in pink, and no matter what I will be buying her (probably even two to open one), but I would love for it to be in blue. Chiffon would be a great alternating drape for her skirt, but of course it all depends on what the designers do.

Today is my 7th Wedding Anniversary and my lovely husband bought me this gorgeous Animated Giselle Disney Store doll as an Anniversary present (awww isn't he sweet), I am soooo excited to add her to my collection I love Giselle

More piccys of her on my http://www.facebook.com/HollysDollys blog :hsd:

She is lovely! Been looking for her for a while now, just spied a bundle on the Bay with her in it, may have to stalk that auction LOL... Love that she still has the flowers in her hair!

Hey guys, do you have any idea when did this set come out?

I really like it, to bad it's already sold out for some years I think. Eventhough I like the 2nd release of Wedding Ariel, I think this dress is way more accurate with the movie. And also the Eric doll looks like the enhanced version of the regular one, with some litte extra details. Here's the link at the DS: http://www.disneystore.com/disney-p...ng-eric-and-ariel-doll-set-2-pc/mp/1257165/0/

Funny that at one point it was on sale, from $30 to $20, and now its Ebay prices are around $150.

I really like that Wedding Ariel set, or the Once Upon A Wedding one from last year that is now impossible to get. I would love to have either of them in my collection, or in fact he Disney Park version but none of them seem easy to get hold of in the UK. I am hoping the Wedding Ariel will still be available at Disneyland Paris later this year when I go ;o)

On the topic of Wedding Ariel, I agree that set is Lovely, I love all of the wedding Ariel dolls. I'm still hoping they will come back in stock in WDW soon!

On another topic- I went shopping at Downtown Disney yesterday, was browsing through Once Upon A Toy and came across this little gem-

I know this is a doll thread, and this isn't a doll, but I figured this would be the place for it
For anyone who isn't familiar with these, this is an outfit for an 18 inch doll, specifically the My Disney Girl doll line by Disney.
Anyway, I found this really exciting since I also have an American Girl doll (18") collection. I have the Belle and Ariel outfits from years ago, and I was so excited when I saw the Rapunzel one. Being a Rapunzel doll fan, I had to have it. I'm not 100% sure if this is a brand new item, but I had never seen it before. And I check the toy sections regularly.

Now, I very rarely debox anything since I have cats who find doll hair and ribbons just TOO interesting, however I just had to unbox this and play with it..

The dress is VERY nicely made, and so pretty.
While I don't have any of the My Disney Girl dolls, as I said I have American Girl dolls so they got to be the models-

Just Like You blonde doll posing as Rapunzel (The colors are nicer in person, my lighting wasn't that great)

Just Like You blonde doll posing as Rapunzel with Just Like You brunette doll posing as Belle.

For anyone who has these, the Rapunzel outfit is A LOT easier to put on the dolls, including the shoes. The shoes are more ballet-shoe type rather than the molded type that comes with the older costumes. The headband was a bit awkward and didn't fit quite right since, after all these are made to fit "most" 18" dolls and aren't made for the American Girls. But I still found it extremely adorable :wiggle:
That is my mini-shopping day review!

Very interesting! Thanks for the head's up! I wonder if the Disney Store will release her for the theatrical release (which would be unconventional) or the home-media release (which would place it in fall/winter). We have all assumed that the next 17" LE doll would be Cinderella to go with the Diamond Edition Blu-ray/DVD release, but what if we're wrong? Or, maybe the Disney Store is just going to roll out more 17" LE dolls! Unfortunately, I think I will pass on Merida... Space is such an issue, and I would rather have a 17" LE Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Pocahontas, & Jasmine. Wanting a 17" LE Mulan is iffy for me, depending on how she looks (and if they even release one). If I can manage a good catch on the secondary market, I may eventually get a 17" LE Tiana and Belle to round out the collection.

I think it would be wonderful if they did a surprise release doll of Elinor when they do release the Merida doll. If they can do Gothel I don't see why Elinor would be an issue. Ugh, stop taking my money Disney!

Hmm, good question, Shivatopia! I am thinking around the theatrical release, or maybe a few months later for the UK release? I don't know...
I thought Cindy would also be the next 17'' doll, maybe Merida will be a surprise, like Alice and the Queen of Hearts, or Gothel... maybe they'll change the release schedule to 3 scheduled dolls a year! Cindy is definitely a sure bet for autumn, though. I think I will get Merida, because I plan on having all the LE 17'' Princess dolls, so if she turns out to be a Princess that'll work out. If not, I can give her to my friend who is Scottish and obsessed with her LOL! (btw, people's thoughts on Merida as the 11th Princess? For me I think it's 50/50 right now). I hope they do release a Mulan, she is one of my 4 favourite Princess girls! I can imagine her being beautiful, if she is ever released. Jasmine is of course, my top want for next year, fingers crossed they release her!!! :hsd:

That would be even better, Elinor would make a gorgeous 17 inch doll...! LOL money would totally be an issue for me if that happened, though... better start saving!

I was just thinking the same thing about how excellent it would be if they did an LE Queen Elinor doll ;o)

As you can see from this piccy of Elinor she certainly would make an excellent highly detailed LE doll ....

Hmm... I agree, Holly! A LE 17" Queen Elinor doll would offer opportunities for great detailing and is one I would be more likely to get... Visually, both she and Merida bring more to the royal color table (a brunette & a redhead, plus clothes in shades of green). I think the thing that I cannot get past with Merida is that her head is very wide-eyed, round-cheeked, and "squishy" (you just want to pinch her cheeks), and it translates the same way into doll format. With her wild hair, she keeps bringing to mind the Podlings from The Dark Crystal. Though I love that film, I don't like that look on princesses... Queen Elinor's head looks a bit more oval, which suits my style better. Using the same comparative analogy, Queen Elinor's dolls look more like the gelflings to me.

I would LOVE a queen Elinor 17" doll, ever since I saw her in the previews I couldn't wait to see the doll version of her. Her hair is so unique and pretty. I'm still waiting for the Classic style doll of her. If they did a surprise release I would definitely get it

I had some great fun posing my new Classic Merida doll, as I finally had the time to get her out of her box and photograph her. I just love how dramatic she can look ...

Got loads more piccy on my www.Hollys-Dollys.co.uk blog ;o)

I would love love LOOOOOVE it if they made an LE Aurora doll!! And it would be even more perfect if she were in anything besides pink! Not that pink is a bad color, but blue or purple suit her so much better because the pink she's usually in is too harsh (and she clashes with Phillip!). If it were a light/baby pink maybe I could take a liking to it. But either way if they release her I'm going to have to have her

as for possible designs, personally I like these (but in blue or purple):

Extra: Someone redid Aurora's Designer Doll in purple- I think she looks stunning!

I got the Ever After Flynn & Rapunzel set earlier in ther week and I absolutely love them, they look soooo adorable together ...

I also got the Merida & Angus set and I simply LOVE them awwwww ....

I have loads more piccys om my http://www.Hollys-Dollys.co.uk blog if anyone is interested ;o)
