Disney Fairytale Designer Collection - Heroes & villains collection 2016

I'm in the minority but I hate with a passion all the embroidery! It looks so cheap, over the top and ruins the simplicity and beauty of the character designs. It's like I know let's make this doll look limited edition just chuck some embroidery on, swirls or flowers on all the dress's. Most of the designer dolls have a very similar pattern to them when it's embroidered.
Belles for example- she's the worst one from this years set- her dress is like a rehash of Ariel,Briar Rose,Rapunzel the dress with the two side panels with the embroidery in the middle.
As a huge fan of Aurora it's nice to see a doll that caputures the beauty and simplicity of the original dress, it's the most movie accurate dress and it it looks far from cheap. If they had embroidered it....let me guess thorns or roses would have covered the bottom.
Now the main problem is the in box posing, you can't see the drapes andplears in the fabric. Aurora deffo needs to be repositioned to see the beauty.

I got the Alice and Sleeping Beauty sets from this wave. I do have to say I am puzzled beyond belief why they gave a prop to the Sleeping Beauty set and it wasn't the spinning wheel. The set would have dearly benefited from that. I'm definitely disappointed in how obvious the corner cutting was in this wave, especially the lack of mugs/shirts/pins to match this set. It'll be the only DFDC to not have them. The fact that Maleficent's detailing is missing from the back of her outfit, and there's a similar problem with the Queen of Hearts doll is also pretty audacious for the price the sets cost. I still love the Alice doll and am so glad I got her, but I'm so sad they treated such gorgeous designs with so little care.

I'm have to say I love the embroidery and over the top floral patterns with the Fairytale Collection designs. I have plenty of merchandise with the original character designs - it's nice to see an exercise in something new for such beloved characters.

I'm just admiring these last four on my dresser top (wall mounted shelves not in place yet for the entire H vs. Vs set) and I just love them.
My favorite from these 4 is always going to be Cinderella, but I don't feel there is a dud among them. I though I might not love Aurora but I love her too, and Maleficent is just awesome. So, no duds. I also feel that way about last year's sets. I really love H vs. Vs.

BTW my overall favorite is D23 Coronation Elsa with Hans. I just love how she has her scepter and orb... sooo awesome!

My issue with Aurora's outfit is that it honestly looks like they just took the dress from the outfit playset that is like $10 and added embroidery to the top. Yes, the fabric might be better, but the look is the same. I would have been fine with the skirt being plain if the top was inventive, like what they did with the 17" doll. It just looks very lazy to me.

Your pictures are always so beautiful, pupuce, and these ones definitely make me appreciate Aurora from this set more. Sleeping Beauty was never my favorite Disney princess movie, but of the original three it's probably my favorite. I do still wish they had made this particular version of Aurora close-mouthed. If they were going to go with her trance-like stare, they may as well have gone all the way.

The boxes are too tiny and especially for the aurora and maleficent set! you should unboxed to enjoy yourself their beauty.

my villains dolls are preparing an halloween party

cinderella and snow white are the ones working hard for the party to be ready

when the villains left , they take a break and snow white reveals she lost the maleficent invitation...

old hag told her to go at the post office in the middle of night , it was scary especially inside the forest, the trees... It 's where she lost it, while running!

now maleficent is not happy, she didn't recieve ( again! ) an invitation to the party.

I mean I loved last years sets. This years are nice as well. With the lack of merchandise to go with these dolls and the seemingly poor sales one has to wonder if this is going to be le last 12" Heros VS villains designer sets or even designer dolls in general

Theres a rumor that there is gonna be a new set next year and even more...but im not sure because this years set didnt sell much except for the belle and gaston one. I hope they wont ran out of ideas on what designer they should still do. Im not really into designer sets. I collect only the 17 inches but im gonna make an excemption for ariel.

Well to my surprise I received Aurora and Maleficent yesterday. Disney never send me a blast off email I was going to call them yesterday about it good thing I waited because they were waiting for me by my door . So far all seems good. Ahhh.... I just couldn't wait to free Aurora's dress it was hurting me seeing it all tied up and thinking of the holes in the fabric lol Man! Disney went all crazy with the little plastic ties I've never seen a set so pinned down. I'll share some pics later

Oh man! I can't get over how beautiful Aurora dress is! I was actually not going to keep her, only Maleficent but after seeing how huge and flowing her dress is I just had to. I'm one of those that always want the gowns/outfits to be movie accurate or very close to it and would like them to flow more which is hard to do with satin. To my opinion Aurora is the closes to that. I was tempted to get Aurora 17" blue doll because of her dress but more more happy with this one . After dealing with Lady Tremaine's veil holes, I was able to close all Aurora's dress holes, so very happy about it. I also changed her shoes she needed heels ^^ Alrighty, here's she is yay! (sorry, went pic crazy!) 1st pics she has a petticoat, last pic she doesn't.

LOL! I just realized that all my favorite dolls in this DFHV set are wearing blue outfits. I think I want Alice will see!

Thank you doll enchanted! i agree with you aurora is great and the set is very underrated. But it's true than when you keep them in box, you miss completely the beauty of that set.

I get what you're saying about it, but that still doesn't excuse them for their lack of creativity. And honestly, if Chiffon is so expensive for the set, why did they end up punching holes in the bottom of it and basically ruining the look of the skirt with their fasteners?

I also had the same thought about Cinderella's dress. At first, I liked what I saw, then when I saw unboxing of the doll, I realized that her dress was pretty much what it looked like in the movie, minus the embroidery. And embroidery is just repeated side by side.

Theres no way to keep the doll in place but to pin her skirt..i tried of ways to keep her from not moving but theres no way...if they glued her that would be worst right? You might ruin the doll in the process of separating her skirt from the bottom with those glue and probably the glue would leave a mark. If the doll is not pinned at all...imagine receiving your doll all messy looking after shipping. Who knows how many bumps they would endure along the road. Thats worst...because the damage would be the doll itself from bumping each other because theres nothing keeping them from moving. Honestly, if you think theres a better idea to keep those dolls in place disney needs everyones input...they had no choice..

Hi, I would prefer if they would do what Mattel does and use thread. Because the little plastic fasteners pull on the fabric and/or go through it making a bigger hole. But thread would just slide right out if unboxing or wouldn't strain the fabric by leaving it there for years.

The dolls this year were so underwhelming. Sis went to the raffle for the Belle/Gaston set for me and was fortunately able to get it at the store so didn't have to try online.
