Disney Pin Collecting overwhelmed

Disney Pin Collecting overwhelmed
I deliberately kept my collecting parameters really narrow so that I wouldn't feel overwhelmed or spend too much money. Like, REALLY narrow: "Only pins related to Jules Verne-based rides and films, but only with Disney characters on them, but only if I like them" with the result that my collection is small, but mighty! Only recently have I begun to expand into a couple other collections - Fantasia (just the characters, with no text or scenes or anything) and ONE pin for a ride I like (e.g. My Haunted Mansion one is the Hitchhiking Ghosts riding a Doombuggy, my PotC one is Mickey opening a treasure chest with a skeleton pirate looming over him) - but those hunts have been more discouraging than overwhelming :)

If you're feeling overwhelmed, that kind of focus is what I would recommend. But as others have said, a lo of pin collecting is just sticking with it. That's hard for me because I enjoy instant gratification :)

I feel like that as well that my collection will never be completed. (I guess kind of like Disneyland) glad that it's normal.
So I was going to post a reply same as everyone else about how everyone hits that "OVERLOAD!!!" moment and to hang in there lol but I just LOVE this comparison! :) And it's true! People are always asking me "if you ever complete your collection, then what will you do?" And I always say "try to keep up with whatever is released next that I need!"

I sometimes feel a little overwhelmed with all of the pins I want and how many are left to go! If I start a set then I feel like I need to finish it! I really only collect stitch pins and other unique ones I fall in love with or artsy pins. So it helps a bit! I recently have been going over board on my pin collection and buying pins I really want, and I also have those moments of "what am i doing". Or "slow down"... but one thing I have learned recently is that almost (almost) every pin will come back around again, so if you can't get it now you will come across it again, even if it is crazy popular and really low limited edition - it may take longer to come back, but they eventually do come back around for sale or trade. With the stitch I collect they are 99% of ones that were released years ago, so it's just a watching game. One thing I have tried to do this year or am trying to do for 2015 is choose my favorites that I want and only buy or trade for ones in those sets. That way I am more focused on getting those I really want and have some limits set to not go overboard. It is easier said then done tho. I also have just started to plan my displays because I want them as art in my home. Pins for me are an investment and art to enjoy and kind of an escape from all the crap and illness and takes me back to the simplicity of being a kid and my love of disney.
