Same; I signed up and have taken a look around -- pretty cool idea.I signed up for the emails and app. Haven’t purchased anything as of yet but the idea intrigues me.
Some of the villains sets have been amazing! I don’t quite seeing this as being as big as physical pin trading but im anxious to know how the trading will work on the app! Maybe that will finally push me to buy a few of the mysteriesSame; I signed up and have taken a look around -- pretty cool idea.
I think it's an alternative way to collect, and, if trading is something that's coming, is an alternative to physical pin collecting and trading for those that may not live near parks, or don't trade via mail.
Some of the artwork is fun, and you can "interact" with them by viewing them in 3D, along with displaying them on a board for others to see.

Yes, I've already bought a few of the $6.95 open edition mystery boxes (or capsules, as they call them), but I just can't bring myself to pay $49.95 for their limited edition pinsSome of the villains sets have been amazing! i used to play Magic the Gathering online decades ago -- one thing that they did was, if you collected an entire set, you could redeem the virtual cards for a full set of physical cards of that set, but only if you collected the entire set (you couldnt redeem singles or anything)Have fun with the app and keep reporting back on whether you're enjoying.
My main issue: it doesn't matter how little/much I'm spending in the app, I'm still spending money on a virtual item. That's money that I could spend on a real, tangible pin ... or save it and put it towards a more expensive pin that I've been unable to trade for. Or towards a trip to Disney. Or a cruise. Or ...
yes, they are digital versions of disney pins. each pin is unique, as they are backed and minted via blockchain technology. unique mint numbers, etc. are assigned to every pin released on Pinnacle. you have digital ownership over each digital pin, if that makes sense. maybe Cicada can word it better than I can haha.So these aren't actual pins? They're just digital art that look like pins, basically?
If you can't hold it in your hand and get a pinjury from a pointy metal back, it's not a pin.yes, they are digital versions of disney pins. each pin is unique, as they are backed and minted via blockchain technology. unique mint numbers, etc. are assigned to every pin released on Pinnacle. you have digital ownership over each digital pin, if that makes sense. maybe Cicada can word it better than I can haha.
I don't really have a horse in this race as I have only experimented with digital collectibles and am still on the fence, but some thoughts....If you can't hold it in your hand and get a pinjury from a pointy metal back, it's not a pin.
This is therefore just artwork that anyone can copy and "own". Silly.
Yeah, count me on the team of "it's ridiculous to pay for a picture that anyone else can make a copy of".I don't really have a horse in this race as I have only experimented with digital collectibles and am still on the fence, but some thoughts....
as alluded to in this post, if physical pins of non-OE sets can be redeemed, it could bridge the gap and create a phygital experience by encouraging trading/chasing/completing sets, with the option to redeem it for a physical set once completed. Once a set is redeemed, it would get "tagged" as having been redeemed, preserving the integrity of the edition size.
LE sets would represent a known cost on the business end. They only need to make so many. They could be individually numbered/stamped/engraved/whatever that would pair them with the digital version to combat counterfeiting. Once redeemed from their digital counterpart(s), then it's fair game on the secondary "physical" pin trading market.
I know physical is not the game they're in, but it's a thought, especially since many are still on the fence (or even opposed to) digital collectibles.
One other thing that blockchain collectibles solves, that's often an issue in physical art, is provenance — the digital signatures create a verifiable chain of custody of a specific instance of an item, so as it's traded, you can trace the ownership all the way back to its creation — now, this doesn't solve the issue of the physical changing of hands in my hypothetical scenario of a "phygital" redemption experience, but at least as it changes hands in the digital space, one could trace its ownership until it crosses the threshold, and would at least have some trace for point(s) of contact if one is wondering about one of these pins' authenticity.
haha, no worries. it's not for everyone. one of the main reasons why i left physical trading was because of the overflow of counterfeit pins. very discouraging when many of your grails get counterfeited (even pin-on-pins!). i could easily find a pin supplier and order a single copy of any physical pin I have, without even having to purchase bulk now. With digital collectibles backed by blockchain technology, this can alleviate the counterfeit issue.Yeah, count me on the team of "it's ridiculous to pay for a picture that anyone else can make a copy of".
But whatever floats your boat. It's your money.I waste mine in my own way.
Hey there! yes, the trade event happened a couple days ago. It was originally a 2 hour window to trade via in-app or desktop version, but because of the constant trade activity, it was extended by an hour. They could improve a bit on the UI, as it was a bit clunky. Overall, it was a great experience. I'll be posting my thoughts of the event in the coming daysHey @Bricklayer did you see that there was/is an opportunity to trade with other pinnacle members? I just got a chance to check my email (was on vacation) and saw something about a trading opportunity coming real soon. I don’t recall if it passed while I was away but if you know what I’m referring to what are your thoughts?

It's a DapperLabs project that is licensing out the Disney IP for a digital trading platform. This really isn't so different from Funko, Kohl's, all the way to dollar stores licensing out the Disney IP to sell Disney designs. Once approved for IP use, you are given access to a depository of artwork and resources to use - which is why you see the same rehashed disney designs on Pinnacle pins, lunch boxes, hats, t-shirts, etc.Didn’t you say they were tracing authentic pins that already exist? If they have them made then they are counterfeiting authentic Disney pins.
UnderstandableThis feels like when the previous Pinpics owners tried to launch Disney Pin Grading and the interactive game. Another cash grab IMO. Call me old school but I’d never invest in crypto or NFTs, too volatile

Hey there! Curious to see how your Pinnacle experience/collection is going since your last postHey all! So i was able to participate in two of the Pinnacle online-only trading events, and they're quite fun! The first event was only a 3-hour window of trading, while the next event was 24-hours long. It's not without its issues, but I'm enjoying my time, thus far.
- You send and receive live trade requests using their iOS/Android app, or desktop web version. I believe you can sign up now, and be placed on a waitlist to access the App.
- Pre-negotiated trade deals can be made on the official Pinnacle discord. It's not the most convenient or streamlined method, so I wonder if this will change in the future by moving all trade negotiations to an in-app chat or something similar.
- One nifty feature when sending/receiving trade requests are the various filters you can apply when perusing through someone's digital pins: pins they have doubles of, pins they own that you do not have, theme, rarities, etc. etc. This makes the trading experience much easier.
- There are a few UI issues they could work on, but it's clean enough for a good time
So far, so good! Remember the good ol' days of pin trading nights, where you could literally hop from table to table, initiating a flurry of trades within a 3-hour window? same with Pinnacle - there was no shortage of trade action whatsoever during these trade events. their discord was slammed with constant trade offers. Pinnacle is still considered in early access phase, so we haven't really scratched the surface of what future trading action can be with even more users.
I'll continue to stick around. As mentioned, Pinnacle has fixed the biggest issue for me in physical pin trading: I don't have to worry about scrappers and counterfeits. Also, for someone like me who does not have enough time to visit the parks or trade events for pin trading action, but still wants to be part of Disney pin trading, Pinnacle fits the bill.
I don't know if Pinnacle will ever successfully capture that charm you get with physical trading, and that's fine. It's a different experience. Pinnacle is not trying to replace physical trading at all; it's simply an alternate way to collect.
