I have collect all of the Pin Traders Delight pins up to the current release but started when I discovered what and where DSF is and was and had an ice cream to received this pin . It got me hooked. They are small enough to post on a board or lanyard with 87 (88 with Dumbo). Although there is no science to a release of a PTD pin, there is an uniformity to the release of the next one? I do keep in mind that popularity of the character or theme drive the sales to reduce the time or the lack of popularity keeps them in the DSF drawer days longer until the next one is releases but I have found that on average there are 10 days between releases.

With the release of Ray being an LE 500, the math should have been released on the 10/14/12, but the LE 500 killed the purchase for trade/eBay of this pin. Pins prior to the Carl PTD have more of a randomness to the release but after the Carl pin there has been more people visiting for PTD pin releases and gave it a pattern? So you can see "a" pattern that starts with the Roger Rabbit PTD release.

I think they switched to all le500 on the PTD. Much like the Marquees appear to be now.

Until someone post on Pinpics, the eBay listing states LE 300? This may not be a good business idea for an LE 500? When it is LE 300 the get the actual pin trades to come in and buy the ice cream that has a huge markup for profit. At LE 500, pin traders are not in a rush to get and trade/sell the pin? When pin traders know the next one is near, more ice creams are purchased. Unless they do not want pin traders always hanging around inside the store. You know they do not like us outside the store. :eek2:

I Think Ray killed it because it's an ugly pin, not because its LE500, but the extra 200 did make it go way longer than a crappy pin from the LE300 days. When Kevin, Jessica, etc. come out, even at LE500, they will still be less than 4 or 5 days. I keep hearing they are going to raise the price of the PTDs because they havent' gone up on a long time. Their overhead cost on the pin side of the price just lowered greatly by making 200 more. More use out of the same mold set up. If that means they stay cheap I am happy. If they raise the price $2 and still offer us a crappy character LE500 then I'll complain.

It is also possible that they changed to 500 for some of the newer pin designs that were ordered and are randomly selecting new ones out of their mixed 300 / 500 stock...

Like I said in the other thread, more then likely they made the LE 500 for the HUGE event that was that weekend. They probably made several pins that were LE 500, and put them on event only hold.

i like you little chart and find comfort that other so wierd things like keep track of PTD LOL
i think in some of those sales --whatever pin releases or movie openings must have something to do with it. Believe it or not NON PIN COLLECTORS actually go to the DSF for just the ice cream LOL--weird right?

I liked Ray--there are very few ray pins!! He is ugly in the movie to! BTW i'd like a ray...anyone wanna trade??
