Disney Store Limited Edition Dolls - 12" and Designer - 2017
I was also thinking about how the LM designer set, might knock down the price of the Heroes v Villains. Since, the only thing most people liked about that set was Ariel.

Thank You Li! That is really good to know. I thought she was a 17 inch.
Okay then I really really only want Blue Fairy to go with my other fairy dolls.
Are you going? Or know anyone that is that can help me get her?

Nope, not going. I might know someone going, but I think he wants $400 for Blue Fairy, I can check.

No Way am I paying triple. Must be someone Going that won't charge me part of my liver. LOL
Anyone?

Problem is that it's going to take an overnight line up for it and the other D23 exclusives. There are at least 8-10 sorcerers that I know that are going to be going to that store daily to get the exclusive stuff just to sell.

And that's sad. The ones that want them to own can't get them because well at least I can't afford that much. I can't speak for others.

But that's how it's going. Imagine you would pay $2000 to get the sorcerer tickets or/and wait in line the whole day to get the dolls (maybe stay over night in line). Would you still be a kind person and sell the dolls for retail? You are paying for a hotel, food, tickets, waiting HOURS to get the dolls.
I don't have a chance either to go to the convention. But asking for cheap d23 dolls is a bit bold, sorry.

$400 IS an awful lot of money, but the reasoning does make sense. I still remember all of the horror stories that were in this thread and in my Facebook doll group about how awful getting merchandise was at the 2015 expo. I was hoping that they would take all the complaints to heart and try to organize things a little better this year seeing it was one of the only negatives people gave the previous expo.

i am just curious if the display cases would be bigger because if ariel comes with prince erics statue how in the hell would it fit with king triton?

I believe I heard a rumour (emphasis on RUMOUR) that they would be changing the way they do the backgrounds in the cases - so it's more of a scene, like the 17" boxes, rather than the wallpaper look used up till now. If that's true (and, again, I could be misremembering) it's possible the statue will just be an image. Though, either way, I think we can all agree these dual doll sets need to have bigger cases.

Yeah, no doubt that $400 is quite a lot (despite the fact that we don't know for sure how the sets will sell on the secondary market). But you can say the same about the "regular" releases (Winter Belle anyone?) - and buying a doll online (at least in europe) clearly is not based on anyone's effort (like purchasing expensive tickets, hotels, standing in line). Tbh, i think it is more reasonable to expect the d23 designer releases for $300-400 than to scalp the people with regular LE releases on an instant.

^^This. The person I know that's selling the doll for $400 shipped is going to be one of the people standing in line overnight (if they allow it). The ticket to get into D23 is costly too - no Saturday only tickets available so one has to buy the 3-day ticket. So the ticket cost ranged from $57 (one day, early bird) to $238 (3-day, non-member, no early bird). And to spend most of that time in line to buy merchandise is not something I would look forward to.

People could also buy a ticket to D23 and just enjoy the convention because they really want to go, there's that too. No one is making anyone stand in line to re-sell exclusives. Stand in line because it's something you want to buy. If someone is standing in line as a reseller it takes away from someone who really wants the merchandise.

You'd think so, right? But I'm on many FB groups where people go to D23, stand in the long lines, because they say they can't afford to pay more than retail and won't, talk badly about resellers, say it's for their collection and that's why they went, and then within a week or two, are doing the exact same thing. Except now they have a sob story about why they are selling.

Exactly!!

It's sad. There's so many people on here alone who REALLY wanted Mulan dolls and now its going to be really difficult to get this one. Hopefully there will be more to come when the live action movie is out. The whole reselling got totally out of hand. People buying tickets to get in the convention means less tickets for people who'd really like to be there. Then the same is true for people who really want the merchandise missing out because someone is in line buying things up to resell. I wish some of the exclusives could sold by a lottery system or something different now and then just to mix it up and give people a chance.

From what I've heard, half of the D23 Mulan/Shang dolls already went in the RSP for Sorcerer Ticket holders (they paid $2000-2500 for one ticket!) So, that only leaves 250-ish for regular people to get.

Both of the LE Moana dolls are STILL in stock on the website, and many Disney Stores have them collecting dust on their shelves as well. If the first two were not successes at all, I don't understand why the would make another one 1) so soon and 2) that looks nearly identical to the first one. She should have been the d23 exclusive, Mulan definitley would have sold just fine as a non exclusive.

Honestly the only sets I can actually see selling quickly are Tangled, Little Mermaid, and maybe Pinocchio. I'm sure Moana, Robin Hood, and 101 Dalmatians are all gonna be shelf warmers. None of these characters were really in demand at all, and you can't even say they just picked popular characters that are sure to sell because honestly they didn't.

i really need some input.
if i'm set on obtaining the d23 mulan and shang set, should i just order a set on ebay now (around $400) or wait till the sellers have the dolls in hand and risk the prices going up more?

thank you !

I'd say that $400 is a good amount to be honest.
The actual dolls will retail around $140 with taxes. Add into it a fraction of the D23 ticket costs along with hotel, food, waiting in line, and shipping. And keep in mind that this set is LE500-something, whereas $140 is for the 6,000 LE items. So yeah. $400 sounds reasonable to me..

Also, you might want to look into ebay buyer protection or PayPal protection. They might cover you.

Look for the listings where the people say they are sorcerers and these are guaranteed. That might be useful as well. But $400 is a good price to pay

I could never personally recommend buying before the actual release. You simply have no guarantee of getting anything when the seller doesn't even have the item themselves yet. Sure ebay/paypal/your credit card will get you a refund, but all that money will still be tied up while you're stuck buying from someone else at the same time. And you may also miss out on a good deal while waiting to see if your pre-order pans out. Plus it's historically been the case that the early listings demand the moon in payment before dropping to the price people are actually willing to pay.

I honestly can't say with certainty what a good price for this set would be, because it is rare, but it's also Mulan. And not even Mulan in a pretty dress. That's just not a combination that sells (basically your only competition will be other die hard fans, not the general public). The D23 Elsa & Hans set sells for less than $400 and it's 2 years old now. On the one hand, yes the edition size was twice as large, but on the other hand it's still Elsa.

I think it is still high but considering that the last 250 will probably be sold to sorcerer people because there are about 500 of them. They will get inline first before the D23 members and general public. I too think it is high but like anything, it is what the market holds. Waiting does help, probably lowest will be 300. I like to wait for my pins until a price I can afford. But it is totally up to you. I am not a doll collector, but some of my friends are. I think one paid 360.
