I just want to clarify a few things. This is a selling event not a trading event. The rooms that are opened each night cost each person $130 or More per night and we all need to pay for those rooms with sales. While some people will be trading in their rooms others may not. Each room will have a different variety of things for sale I personally will have a wide variety of Disney paper, a large assortment of Pirate collectibles, watches, die cast cars and lots more. If you want a sneak peak I have 3 cases at My-D Pins . Please remember that this is a Hotel with other guests so there should be no trading or hanging out in the halls, please keep the noise down as the Hotel management has shut us down in the past.
Bring paper and pen to write down room numbers and above all else come and have fun.
SO sorry everyone new to the pin forum & fairly new to the posting thing.....So I have a question: I was planning on going to the Disneyana Show & Sale on Sunday when it's open to the public.......if we come on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday to the room hopping, will there be other things, other than pins available for us to purchase? I have a few pins I could trade as well....but I'm more of an eclectic collector & like looking at odd Disney stuff....
I guess what I'm asking is this: If we attempt to come on Thurs, Fri, and/or Sat & tell them we are with Disneypinforum, will that gain us entry into the show & sale area?
Misty, the room hopping takes place in various people's hotel rooms. Usually they'll have a poster or something outside the room so you can see from a distance. They leave the doors open so you can just walk right in. There is no 'entry' other than just saying hello People sell all sorts of Disney and sometimes non Disney things! Vintage dolls, plushies, plates, random collectibles, certainly not just pins! Bring lots of cash because you'll want to spend it! hehe Jessica, here's the location info again:

Room hopping is not the same as attending the event. You can room hop for free, however that does not gain you entrance into the event, that you still have to pay for, just clarifying as there seems to be some confusion.
To the newbies, one of the oldest Disney fan clubs is DFC - the Disneyana Fan Club. Once a year, their national convention is held during the week of Disneyland's birthday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The convention ends with a Sunday show and sale in the hotel ballrooms. Pin collectors like to attend because there are secondary market pin sellers from across the nation. There are usually popup stores from WDI/Mickeys of Glendale, Disney Soda Fountain from Hollywood, and the Disney Employee Center from Burbank. WDI has been known to release new pin(s) at the DFC show. Yes, you have to pay to enter the ballroom on Sunday to have the privilege to buy the merchandise. Be warned, only DFC conventioneers are allowed in the first hour; DFC members are allowed in the second hour; the public is allowed in the third hour. The new pin releases have been known to sell out during the second hour, before the public is allowed in.
I don't think I'll be going Sunday because I feel like by the time us regular public attendees get in, there won't be anything left... So I might try to come up on Friday.
I just want to clarify a few things. This is a selling event not a trading event. The rooms that are opened each night cost each person $130 or More per night and we all need to pay for those rooms with sales.
When I lived in NorCal a short time back, I would hit up Priceline.com and bid for my room. I ALWAYS got the Crowne Plaza for no more than $50 a night. Spring Break, Summer, Christmas, same thing.
I selected a 3-star hotel and started bidding at $45, but usually had to go to $48. I think ONE time I had to slum it at the DoubleTree for $52 a night.
There was another post concerning the convention with more information that answered some of these same questions. The room hopping is a result of people who are selling things at the sale on Sunday and are just getting a jump on things, as the original post said there will be some trading, as you can't get a bunch of pin people together without some trading going on, but this is primarily a sale, where you can buy anything from pins to figurines and so on, the venders here could have anything, although there will be A LOT of pins. Room hopping is free, to go to the "convention" whether that means going to the convention part to listen to the panels or going to the sale on Sunday costs money to get in. If you don't want to pay just to go shopping, which in no way should be a deterrent because it does get you access to exclusive pins and vendors from all over the country, the opt for the free option of room hopping.
And no everything will not be sold out by the time the general public gets in. I have only ever come that way and have stayed until closed and have spent tons of money and still could have spent tons more if there had been another few hours another few days. Don't let the time you can get there stop you from going. With the exception of the DSF and WDI pins that will be released at the sale you won't even know what you missed.
