I was just wondering who went to the Disneyana Show this past Sunday and what did you think of the show? We saw alot of familiar faces but it did not seem like very many people were buying anything.

I didn't go Sunday, I only did room hopping Saturday night. Got a lot of great pins. Auctions and Disneyshopping Tink's and Princesses. Also a 35th anniv. Star Tours C-3PO that's been eluding me. Sunday I decided to run up to Hollywood and get my Cogsworth PTD and then had dinner at Steakhouse 55 at DLR. Skipped the show.

I heard mixed reviews on the fact that WDI didn't go. Some of the vendors thought that didn't give an excuse for people to come. Others thought it meant people would still have money left to buy from them. I didn't make it a priority because WDI wasn't there. Room hopping sufficed for the event for me.

I didn't go this time. I'm curious to see if anyone found any great deals on pins! I wish I did but the money just wasn't here this time around.

We didn't buy anything not much we needed. All of the vendors were the familiar locals we see every release at DSF,DLR and WDI. I did see the one ebay seller there that sells alot of counterfeits he is from Flordia. He had a room open Saturday night and a large space Sunday.

I did not go either. I am wondering if the absence of WDI and DSF caused the show to lose ticket sales. To those who went, how were the crowds as compared to previous shows?

I went. The show in January/February is always smaller and the dealers bring less stuff. Same people, with the same stuff, in the same location, year after year after year. I would recommend skipping the July show and wait till the Collector's Forum at the D23 Expo. That will bring the big time dealers and collectors. I did find one of my grails, the Disneyland Host pin, now I have all the Disneyland D pins, Host, Hostess, Guide, Guest Relations, and Ambassador.

I went and it was noticeably less crowded than the last show in January 2012. I didn't go to the show last summer but I heard that one draws in more dealers, so of the two Disneyana conventions each year, I think maybe the July convention is the best one to attend. Having said that, I did find some awesome deals this weekend from room hopping on Saturday night and a few more on Sunday. But really, Saturday night was the best, plus I saw more pin trading upstairs in the mezzanine.

Do you have to be a member of D23 to attend the Expo? I don't think so, right?

The Disneyana convention for $5 (with coupons that are everywhere!) might be a decent alternative compared to the costs of attending the D23 Expo if you're only going to buy pins and not interested in attending the seminars, previews, etc. I'm sure the costs to dealers is more to sell at D23 than the Disneyana Convention so they may pass those additional costs to the buyers... to those who've been to D23, do you think pin prices at D23 and Disneyana are about the same? Also, are dealers less or more open to bargaining at D23 vs Disneyana?

I do know one thing about buying pins at these Disney conventions... set an amount of money you want to spend, then pad that amount by at least $100-$200, and ONLY bring that amount with you. Over the last two days, I must have overheard "I need to go to the ATM again" from other collectors about 10 times. LOL Some dealers do take credit cards but I find I can bargain a little better if I'm paying with cash.

Is there a website? I've tried to Google this and all I get is a webstore selling Disney stuff but nothing about a show. It seems to be something I am interested in seeing one of these days.

I went to the Saturday PinPics pin seminars and to the DFC Sunday sale, skipping the Saturday night room hopping and pin trading. I saved a lot of money since WDI, DSF and DEC did not have booths at this sale. I did find a few of my pin wants at the sale. The best thing was winning one of the Saturday door prizes. Alex Maher gave away a few of his pin sketches after his presentation and I won the sketch of his Mickey Vampire pin. Afterwards, he was nice enough to sign the sketches. :)

It was meh....for pins at least. There were about three vendor tables of "real" pins and then a bunch of tables selling $3 racks and hidden mickeys etc...

I'm sad I missed room hopping. :( Looking forward to D23!!!!!!

Not much of a show now that WDI and DSF don't set up any more.
I'll still go to room hopping ,but don't think I'll pay to get in the show and sale, we only went for the WDI pins

Don't be afraid to ask the sellers if they take paypal! That's what I've done when I ran out of cash. ;)
