So the Disneyland Resort Train Limited Release Mystery Box Set was released at Disneyland Resort today, and actually comes with two mystery/chasers instead of one advertised, 1) an Ariel/Paradise Pier and 2) a Roger,Jessica Rabbit/Toontown . The pins are large and beautiful, more that I thought they would be from the original box art.

the information on disneypins.com says that the edition size is 2400 - but what does that mean when it is a mystery box set? Is that the number of boxes there are? does that mean approx 400 of each pin with two pins in each box?

Name:
"Disneyland® Resort Train Limited Release Mystery Box Set"
Release Date:
03/22/12

Location:
Disneyland® Resort

SKU:
6216847

Retail:
$19.95

Edition Size:
2400

I just got the 2 chasers. PM me which ones you are trading out. Glad you got your set!

While they are Limited Release and do not have a set edition size, I do believe that there are only 400 of each pin made and I would be shocked if Disney actually made another batch. Although Limited Release with 400 made is still different that Limited Edition 400. Only time will tell how hard these pins end up being.

If they made 2400 total pins then it would be 200 per pin since it is a 12 pin set.

I hate the "limited release" label...they're never released again, so just tell us the edition size already! lol

If the "Edition size" is to be believed, it would be for the number of boxes made and released, 2 pins per box makes 400 of each pin.

Me too! I have a couple from an older WDW series. Only 6 or 7 people trading. Originally, I think they were posted with an LE size of 3000, and then the ODPT listing was changed to limited release. But there were 15 pins in a series, 6000 pins or LE400 each. Plus, there were chasers. So maybe it was 350 of one and 50 of the chaser, something like that. But when I try to trade them, people see the limited release and then act as if they were rack pins because they could be released again.

My favorite example as to why I don't like Limited Release is the Disney Cruise Line Transatlantic pin from 2010. Limited Release. Made for 1 specific sailing that is dated. Do you really need to put Limited Release on that? Just state an edition size or don't even bother saying Limited Release, Im sure people just looking at it can tell it was just for the 1 sailing. So it can mean anything from a 1 time event upto an entire year (PT52, Stamp Collection, Animation Art)
