DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion

I think she's beautiful but I just wish she wasn't so shiny. I wonder why they all seem to be shiny in the last ones released?

The dent is hard to see but i hope you can fix it!

Can somebody tell me if the box of blue Cindy is as big as the regular ones?

It's a bit lighter and takes up slightly less space. When I saw the photos I was afraid it was going to be made of really lightweight, cheap cardboard but the box quality is the same as the normal 17" I think.

Oh that's a bummer. Hope you can straighten it out.

I'm so lame. All I did was pull the plastic cover, as if to remove it, and it popped back into shape. I untied the back and removed the cardboard cover for nothing, lmao.

Now that I know how the boxes work, I won't worry about a dent next time. There are slight imperfections around where the dent was, but it could've been worse.

Everyone I've shown at work doesn't seem impressed that this doll is based on Lily James. And they're usually pretty intrigued by my dolls. Hope I still like this one after I get her home and settled. Right now I actually love her.

left house around 7:40 arrived around 8 and there were two people in line. Stayed like that until 9 when a woman showed up. Everyone was sweet we passed time talking to each other, it was really nice. My store actually had 10 cinderellas. They did not have Hans, wedding, or any other surprises.

The doll is absolutely gorgeous in person, and in my opinion much better than the regular doll. There are so many beautiful details and the box alone is gorgeous. The front of the box is connected to ribbon which is unfortunate because I could not open her because I did not want to untie the gorgeous ribbon! So that's really the only downside. It's a lot like the regular boxes... Same materials, but it is a different shape, almost like a store window. overall I'm very very pleased.

The line at my store was the shortest I've seen except for when Fawn came out. I could have waited another hour and a half to get in line and I would have been in the same exact spot. I guess most people got them online.

It was the same with me! After the shopping centre opened (at 7am) there were the exact number of people who brought the dolls when the store opened (9am) plus the store had quite a number of dolls left. The past three occasions there have been quite a number of people waiting in line x

I agree she is not a dead ringer for Lily James, but honestly that doesn't bother me too much. Also, for me, the look of the live-action doll takes some getting used to after being accustomed to the animated dolls, and so I find it difficult to compare. But just looking at her as a doll on her own, in her own right, I think she's beautiful. I hope I am making sense, my brain is mush. :hs:

That is one fine doll. The portrait doesn't completely resemble Lily James, but the doll's beauty really stands on its own. I like the border-less effect for the side edges of the box - allows for a more complete view of the figure with minimal interference.

So, 'Limit 1 per Guest. Available online only.' is just a joke...

That's for the US, although I did see on FB that the DS in NYC usually gets "online release only" items. In Europe, it was released online and in selected stores (Paris, London, no idea where else, but it was on the Disney Blog).

I didn't stay up for the dolls, but do like looking at pictures.

Yea! Congrats! Glad you were able to get her.

I was at the TS store in NY and there were no wedding dolls, only blue ones. I don't think the wedding dolls were released in stores anywhere in the U.S.

...the look of the live-action doll takes some getting used to after being accustomed to the animated dolls...

Oh my God, THIS!

I'm not sure where I want to display her, because she makes the animated dolls (especially the newer princesses) look like aliens. I think for a while... I'm going to display her in the TV room so that I can stare at her. My bf will lllllllove that! (though, Cinderella is his favorite princess / movie in a non-Disney fan capacity)

I'm also thinking about blinging up her box with rinestones. I literally have thousands (and lots of practice applying them), so it wouldn't take me longer than an evening. Maybe this excitement will wane eventually, lol.

Got it! Just take my words back.

My original plan was to display her next to the 2012 LE Cinderella I recently purchased, now I think that will look just plain weird. Putting a more realistic doll next to an animated one just makes the animated one look ...well, freakishly cartoony. So I will probably put her on a separate shelf with maybe the coach ornament and the 12" dolls from the movie, depending on how that looks.

LOL, I live in a tiny one bedroom apartment and I've had to put dolls on practically every wall. My boyfriend has patiently (well somewhat patiently) put up with it (so far) but I've accumulated so many dolls in just one year of collecting, I think he's still a bit shell-shocked.

I completely understand how some people feel about not getting the dolls over scalpers. I went to get mine today in Oxford Street and when I got there 13 people was already there and 90% of them all men. I think I was the only collector in the queue. I have to say but a collector recognize another collector.

Hopefully I'm not going to upset anyone here with what I'm going to say, but all of the people queuing before me they looked like an absolutely tramps and rough. Anyone could tell that they wasn't buying the dolls to collect. All of them was even talking for how much they was going to sell them and for how much they sold the last set of Frozen dolls and Blue/Pink Aurora. It was so uncomfortable being there.

Collecting this dolls it's not fun anymore.

I want to cry right now. Kristoff was delivered but nowhere to be found, Anna has "order processed ready for UPS" Disney says UPS has her, UPS says disney has her... and Elsa is delayed due to weather.

Dont even bother with them. Got what you really want is the fun.

I am SO GLAD the boxes look better in person! After looking at the stock photos I was really worried the boxes were cheap and flimsy and you couldn't open them from the back like the other 17" dolls. I don't debox but I do like to open them once to view their COAs and fix any imperfections (stray hairs, lint on clothes, etc.).

I started collecting LE dolls when the Designers came out in 2011, and started collecting the 17" dolls when Wedding Rapunzel came out, and I have NEVER gone so back and forth about getting dolls before this release! I would seriously change my mind every five minutes. When I first saw the dolls I wanted them and kept staring at the pictures of Wedding Cinderella...then I would change my mind and remind myself that I don't really collect live-action dolls and that her price was outrageous, then I would just want Blue Cinderella, then I wanted none of them LOL. This was literally my mindset until five minutes before the dolls were released. I decided to go for it...because my husband said I might regret it later and I think he was right. I am now really glad I ordered these dolls and feel incredibly lucky that I was able to check out with Wedding Cinderella. I usually have terrible luck with the really low LE merchandise. I have missed out on every Designer pin release and have had to resort to purchasing those WAY above retail.

Now to wait patiently for the shipping notice and for her to ship to me in perfect condition...for a $500 doll they better package her REALLY well! We all know Disney is known for their exceptional packing skills!

LOL, I live in a tiny one bedroom apartment and I've had to put dolls on practically every wall.

Welcome to NYC living, right? I'd sympathize if I weren't so envious.

I live in the suburbs outside Toronto, so I have rooms I don't even enter. (totally NOT bragging, even though that sounded awful) What I mean is, I'm lucky I have space for my collection to grow. I just want the live action dolls in their own area I guess.

I thought the same thing about putting the 2 Cinderellas together. I don't think they'd compliment each other at all. Animated Cindy looks so dainty and soft, whereas Lilyella looks somber, like she hasn't eaten in a long time to fit into her dress and can't take it anymore.

I have the same feeling for SQ Elsa. Love her so much but can't afford $2000. But, I just look forward and frozen fever just gives me a hope that I can have a green version of SQ Elsa. Sometimes, we can't always get what we want.

I'm in the same boat as you two. Love the doll, but even I'm not crazy enough to drain my bank account by paying one to two thousand dollars for her. It'll be Frozen Fever Elsa I really go after when/if she comes out!

So I was afraid to buy online with those underwhelming box pics but I love Cinderella, meaning I couldn't totally give up and I hoped she looked better in person. I was going to go myself to line up but I got very tired. My awesome fiance stood on line for me and used his discerning eye (I said if she and her box seemed less or even equally gorgeous to the 12" to just decline her, and I fully expected that's what would happen) but he told me she does look more beautiful and he decided to bring her home!!!

He had other stuff to do after, so I'm just biting my nails here until his arrival with the belle of the ball. He has really good taste so if he says she looks better in person, I feel safe to think she does!!
