Apparently, the luggage has been "sold out" for a while on the DS.com page (no longer searchable unless you have the item #) so no one that ordered luggage should have gotten the doll.
 
I saw the postings about the luggage on facebook - I don't know, it sounds like someone stole your doll... I don't think that the store could do such a mistake. So offensive. I hope you'll be able to get your doll, but i don't see much hope, i am sorry.
 
I got my Ballgown Cinderella in, so here's a quick review (as well as a general review of the 17" line in general, and the direction it's taking). Just some thoughts that have been rattling around in my head...

First, it should be said that I haven't seen a lot of the older 17" dolls in person, so when I say "my favorites of the line" and things of that nature, keep that in mind! Also, I'm a casual doll collector, so there are definitely people here who know more about this stuff than me...I have my Disney dolls, some Barbies I've liked, a couple of Madame Alexander, and a few Marie Osmond Disney pin dolls. So I am by no means an expert!

With all that said...I am not a fan of the Ballgown Cinderella. The presentation is fine (box, details, etc.). In fact, I think almost all of my issues with it can be summed up with her face/head. I've actually never been a fan of dolls and action figures that try and mold faces based on real people. With the exception of a handful of people (like that one amazing OoaK guy), no one can seem to get it right. For one thing, they almost always make the heads too big. I'm not sure why...? Maybe to emphasize the actor's face? But they look like they're one step away from being bobble heads to me.

She doesn't even particularly look like Lily to me. For one thing, Lily's eyebrow game is STRONG in that movie...the doll's are toned down quite a bit (perhaps for the best, really).

But all of that kind of takes backseat to the fact that she's not smiling? Like, my doll looks DEPRESSED. It's such a strange decision to make for a joyful, Disney doll. Even on Wedding Cindy (which I like much better in general), if you look closely, her actual mouth line is down-turned, but they painted a very slight uplift in the corners, to mimic a slight smile. Even though the line of her mouth is turned down.

So not very happy with the face or head at all.

Her hair is nice, no issues there. But her gown...is sort of dull? Like, in the movie, it was a vivid, VIVID shade of purplish-blue, with lots of shades worked through it. And while it's not a BADLY done, it's definitely not vivid or eye-popping.

So my overall opinion is "meh". I'm hoping Emma Watson's Belle will be much nicer, and might actually have a smile on her face.

The dolls this year have been kind of disappointing for me, in general. While I loved the costumes on the new Frozen dolls (I don't own any of the previous releases, so for me, it was nice to see some more), the shine really detracts from them. I assume they're trying to make them look like porcelain dolls or something? But the coat is far too heavy, and ends up making them look like they have oily faces instead. They look very weird sitting with the rest of the line, so I think I'm going to have to isolate them from the other dolls (they're not so obviously bad when they sit on their own).

On my magic "make it how I like it" list, the only two other things I would fix would be variety in the dolls (which I think will happen over time, since we're getting Jasmine this Fall), and the eye sizes. Large eyes work on Ariel and the CG princesses, like Rapunzel and Frozen. But the eyes looked a little big on Aurora. To me, Cinderella looks GORGEOUS (yes, I'm one of the freaks that likes the Cinderella...in fact, she's my favorite). And one of the things I liked about her was her eyes were smaller. Basically, just make sure to match the eyes to the movie style.

I hope Disney doesn't do what they've done before in other collectible lines. Once they realize they've got a hit, and anyone will buy their items, they stop putting effort into the designs, and quality control goes to crap. Snow White looks amazing to me, and partially because they took some liberties with her design and didn't do an exact replica. I hope they keep that spirit. Both Ariel and Eric look amazing, as well, and they were later in the line. As long as we keep that level of design and care, I think we'll have a line we can love for years...
 
One thing that I noticed in the Cinderella movie is that Lily James' face really does have downturned indentations by her mouth. and her jaw is fairly prominent. I can't disagree that a slightly more smiley expression would have been nice, but at least in the ballgown version, she is running down the steps hoping not to transform before she gets away, so probably not a moment for a huge smile in any case.

I've been wondering, for those that really don't like the sheen, has anyone tried applying compact powder to the doll's face? I know this could be a bit risky in terms of avoiding getting powder on the dress, but it seems like what I'd try first if it really bugged me. Maybe it is too simplistic to think what works on a real face would work on a doll's, though!

Edit: I'm thinking it would potentially fall right off the face, so I guess a more gutsy approach could be a glue-water-powder mix gently painted on. Or maybe this would look terrible...lol! If any of my non-LE dolls had a shiny face, I'd try it just to experiment.

I wish Disney would take responsebilities for their actions. I don't care where it went wrong. It's their fault and very rude to the people who payed so much money for her. Come on Disney my Cinderella will arrive tomorrow but I am gone for the weekend I pray I get the doll and not random items
 
I got my blue gown cinderella in yesterday afternoon and I absolutely love her! She is gorgeous and as usual much better looking in person than in photos. For those that got luggage instead of your wedding Cindy that is just awful and I really hope Disney fixes the issue by getting you the doll or a full refund. This plus all the mistakes with shipping people the wrong Frozen doll makes me want to just try and get the dolls in store from now on. Disney really needs to shape up when it comes to packing and shipping.
 

Experimenting probably works well for people who open their dolls, but I usually keep mine in-box. Even opening to see the COA makes me nervous. I tend to destroy things (knocking figures off shelves, yanking apart boxes, etc.), so I leave well enough alone.
 
I think that the cinderella dolls do closely resemble lily James. In my opinion, to make the dolls better, they should add more color tones to the face to appear more realistic and make the head a bit smaller. I really want to get that le cinderella doll! I loved the movie and after seeing it I really want the Le doll now!
 
I got my Cinderella doll today. I know it has been well reviewed by now, but thought I'd share my opinion. I have to say, I'm really glad to have to her and there are so many amazing things about her, but there's some negatives thrown in there for me. I haven't thought that about any of the other LE dolls I have. There are some angles on that face sculpt just don't work. As Elphaba pointed out, Lily James has a prominent jaw. I think they tried to capture that, but somehow didn't capture the overall shape of her face well causing the head to look too long, square and almost masculine (just my opinion). The eyes seem much too small as well. I also can't get past the resting ***** face. Looking at her up close, I think it's mostly the eyebrows that make her looks so angry. The glitter on her chest doesn't bother me, but I think it looks out of place. Maybe if they used extra fine glitter instead, and perhaps didn't localize it to her chest, it wouldn't look so out of place.

All that being said... I think she's still extremely lovely overall. Her hair is amazing. I couldn't tell how the crystals where done in her hair in the photos, but was really impressed to see them actually threaded throughout her hair. Such incredible detail. I thought her face up was nice. I especially liked the eyes. I like the shiny skin. I really liked the packaging. I could live without the handle, but it did make it really easy to remove her from the shipper. I was worried the box would arrive damaged given the new shape. It was indented, but easily popped out. I really like the new shape. I feel like an idiot, but have to admit I had about a 3 second freak out looking for the COA that is now located in the back, but I like it better back there. I don't like having to disassemble the box that much to get to it, but in the other dolls it never goes back in well and can make getting the cover back on more difficult.

I like to alter dolls, but not LE collectibles like this, unless I get them damaged or opened at a good price. After seeing this doll I am, however, thinking about getting the 11 inch wedding doll and altering it to look more like the $500 version like some people here have mentioned. After getting a closer look at her face I have so many things I want to change about it, but like I said, I can't bring myself to alter her. I do really like the wedding dress, but haven't bought the doll because I can't deal with the angry expression. Now, I'm thinking about getting the Disney version and doing her face up differently. At least removing the eyebrows and doing a softer version. At one point, I thought about getting the Disney small wedding doll and putting the Mattel wedding doll in its dress, or a different doll altogether. The Mattel doll seems softer in the expression, but the dress is certainly better on the Disney doll. I'm on the fence still, though. I love the dress and hate the sculpt, but still have a hard time thinking of spending $70 on a doll that I'm going to alter. I just love the dress so much on the Disney doll. I'd really love it if Disney came out with a 25% or 15% coupon right now, before the doll is sold out. Ah well, I guess this is getting a bit off topic...

So, here it goes! I am NOT a doll collector. I collect Disney pins. I love art and for me pins are like very durable little pieces of art. I love I can frame them and they take up minimal space. I love I can trade them and pay minimal shipping costs and worry less about damage since they are metal. Though I played with Barbies as a child, I have had no interest in collecting dolls and an adult and really really didn't see the appeal at ALL. I kinda find dolls creepy...

But.

DPF has felt a bit slow lately with pin related posting/auctions, etc. so I decided to take the afternoon (I've been sick and in bed with a cold) to read through the ENTIRE 17" doll thread from page 1-130, and, while I have to say I am still not 100% won over by dolls because I like things to look more movie accurate, I am actually tempted by a few!! O.O

NOOOOOOOOOOO!! I don't have the MONEY! I don't have the SPACE! But some of them I must admit are quite stunning.

I really love the Frozen dolls. I enjoyed the Frozen movie (though I wouldn't call myself an uber fan) and collected the pins for a short time but traded them all for TLM and B&B pins as those are really my two greatest loves. I think I love how movie accurate the Frozen dolls are since the CGI lends so well to accurate doll representation. I liked the Maleficent quite a bit as well and really loved the Wedding and Blue Ballgown Cinderella from the Live Action film. "Have courage and be kind" really resonated with me. So much so I am actually tempted to buy one of the Blue Ballgown dolls I see on eBay as several are close to retail prices as the scalpers compete against each other and I know her price will go up as they thin out over time.

I'm actually a bit disgusted with myself. I spend too much on pins as it is and really have no need for dolls. I think I'll have to make a pact with myself and only collect a VERY limited number of ones if I do at all. If they release a Frozen Fever Elsa in her green sequence dress I will probably try for that because I really find her and Anna's dolls beautiful. The only other doll I would probably seriously buy would be Ariel in her pink dress.

Anyway, just wanted to say I will probably be lurking on the 17" doll forum now (drat it all, you snagged me! grrrrr) and I MIGHT get an LE doll to add to my collection. Maybe. Eventually. Ugh. But I seriously don't have the space (I sold all my Funko Pops for this reason) so I could only have like 3 tops if I did. I still am wanting to buy a glass slipper replica (either the original show or the new style) to display next to my Lenox Maleficent Dragon statue.

Oh trust me, if I get one there will be pictures! I've always respected other people collecting dolls, they've just never been 'my thing', so to have this desire to get one has taken me by complete surprise! Honestly reading the nail biting stories of people getting them is part of it I think. That adrenaline when you nab one! It's so exciting! I don't get much of that since I buy most of my pins on eBay, except for the occasional competitive auction or raffle pin at an event. I'm sad I missed the days of online pin sales.

My most precious items are the ones I worked for (camping, sales cue, intense trades, etc.) instead the ones I just bought off eBay or Facebook. I think for me to get a doll at this point, I'd want to get one released and do a store camp out, and not buy any of the older releases. I don't want to 'collect' dolls like I do pins, but maybe have a couple display pieces of new meaningful releases that I was able to have the experience of getting from the release.

I love seeing everyone's pictures though! The dolls really are lovely, even the ones I'm not personally interested in. Beautiful workmanship. And it's neat how people pose them for scenes!

When I was little I just saw one too many scary movies that left me feeling unsettled around dolls. It's taken me some time to get over that aversion but I think it's finally abating so I can enjoy them.

Anyway, this thread has been an exciting read and I look forward to see what's coming!

P.S. I sincerely hope everyone still having trouble with your shipments gets it sorted. I know how frustrating and devastating loosing out on an item is and I don't wish that on any collector! Sending lots of pixie dust out to you!!

i wasn't a big fan of the first alice from a few years back, I'm not that excited about the next one but i loved the animated version as a child. If i dont enjoy the movie, i usually dont bother with the merch. Dont know maybe thats just me.

I loved lily from downton abbey and they released so many beautiful items for cinderella and the movie looks amazing - i couldnt help but purchase most of the collection. Im not sure what they will release for alice, im not a big fan of mia and the movie itself is really unusual, but i do think they will release a LE alice. Think i might give her a miss and save for belle. I love Emma, i love the cast and i absolutely love BaTB!

Then again i might be wrong and maybe the mia LE will look amazing and i will try and get her lol

Personally I'm hoping everyone just forgets about it and I can pick one up easy on the sly.
In all honesty, I totally hated the Burton movie. But I love Mia and I generally adore Coleen Atwood's costume designs, so I'll definitely be watching for a doll release. I was never too into the Alice stuff, but my love of the Blair aesthetic has been changing that and suddenly I'm collecting things and sewing Alice dresses. It sneaks up on you.

It could just be that no one's bringing it up yet. I'm sure they will release a new Alice doll to go with the new movie, especially with how well these most recent Cinderella releases went. Disney will probably want to add her to the new LE 17" Film Collection they have going. The question then becomes what will the edition number be? I wasn't collecting when the first one came out, but if I've understood correctly, there weren't that many made of her, right? And, I guess, a second question would then be will there be 2 Alice dolls, one regular and one Platinum?
 
I didn't completely hate Tim Burton's Alice. I think that I would definitely buy the LE doll though, if only because she has the coolest outfits! And depending on how she looks I might no longer feel so sad that I never got the original one I have no guesses as to the edition number though, maybe 3500? I guess they might make 2 like they did with Cinderella but I'm not sure if they would. I feel like Cinderella is a much bigger deal.
 
i would absolutely love a limited edition mia doll in an alice costume. oooooooooooh.

i didn't hate tim burton's version, i actually really enjoyed it when i went to see it. i still do. i loved cinderella a lot lot more but i love alice in wonderland and adored the costumes, sets and actors.

i do hope we get a limited edition doll. that would be lovely. c:

my mind is blanking out on the merchandise we had for the 2010 movie. i think i didn't get too much of it because i hated the tacky design. it was almost like with frozen, where they kept reusing the same pattern and character faces on everything and it got super old. 2010 alice didn't have a lot of interesting merchandise, i found. hopefully this time will be better.

Haha I'm thinking of the same thing. After getting blue ball gown Cinderella, it's been super tempting to get the wedding set from the Disney store. Their angry expressions had been the biggest turnoff for me but after seeing the movie and how much I've fallen in love over and over with the LE blue ball gown Cinderella, I really want to get the wedding set for their lovely costumes. But I'm on the same page with you that I don't know if I can justify spending $70 for these, especially when I don't completely love their expressions (be the fact that they didn't give the prince the right color for his eyes is extremely disappointing) so I'm hoping they'll have some sort of promo code soon. Kicking myself I didn't go for it when they had the 25% off last month. Anyone know how often they do that 25% ff discount?
 

ooh that jacket is gorgeous! I'll be honest I wasnt a fan of Alice in wonderland - something about either the actress or the character just..annoyed me. Hopefully theyll make a doll with a more generic face but with some live action inspired costume with that jacket!
