I've been wondering basically the same thing. According to the all powerful Google, Disney World was opened in 1971 and Disneyland in 1955. Cinderella was 1950 and Sleeping Beauty 1959. I don't quite get the logic of why they chose Sleeping Beauty, other than she recently had a release, so I think anything is possible. I live in FL, so I'm hoping they do a special doll for the 45th anniversary of Disney World next year. It's probably wishful thinking on my part, but the special doll releases seem to be growing quite a bit and celebrating 5 years is a good promotion. I imagine they'll at least release something pretty special for the 50th in 6 years, but no telling what's ahead with the doll market. I'm old enough now that I don't like to think that far ahead in the future as it occurs to me how old I'll be.
I believe they chose Aurora because the castle at Disneyland is Aurora's castle. The castle at Disney World is Cinderella's castle, hence why I figured we would get a Cinderella LE doll for the Disney World anniversary. But yeah I am interested in seeing what Disney does for future doll releases. If they are going to start doing dolls like this, then there are a lot of possibilities for future dolls.
If you had a choice would you buy D23,Elsa and Hans or OUAT Snow White & Wicked Queen?

I've seen a picture of Jasmine in the box. The box itself is beautiful and the doll in box is gorgeous. Only a couple more weeks until you can see the preview doll at your local DS! I think I'll hold out on it, but I'm sure those who get her will absolutely love her!
Oh, hard choice! I'd have to go with Elsa and Hans, though. I really like the OUAT dolls quite a bit, but I have more of an emotional attachment to Frozen. Also, I think they'd be more valuable in the long run (not a deciding factor).
I hate to admit it, but I'll still buy just about anything Frozen. I took my nieces and nephew to see Frozen when it came out and I'd never seen them react so much to a movie before. It was actually a really great experience for me. My 5 yr old niece couldn't stay in her seat. She'd stand up and try singing to all the songs (not loud, thankfully) although she'd never heard them before. Just watching the absolute wonderment on her little face, and listening to her gasp and awe, was priceless and a memory I truly cherish. She still sings "Let It Go" in her sleep. It brought back a love of Disney for me. The kids see so many movies they can be pretty desensitized, but seeing them watch Frozen reminded me of how "magical" (for lack of a better word) a movie can be. It's why I've tried a few times to get the SQ Elsa. I'd love to have it to give my youngest niece one day. I actually made an offer to an Ebay seller of $1200 when I got my IRS refund check earlier this year, but it was countered at $1500 and I just couldn't do it. I choked at the $1200, but thought it was worth it overall. I've since given up on the doll, but remain hopefully for at least a smaller collectible version of the SQ doll from Disney one day. I was kind of hoping the release this year would have her as the SQ. I actually prefer the coronation dress, but have the larger version already.
I appreciate your comments as well. It's nice to hear people sharing similar experiences of something that brings a family together like that. I agree completely about the hype and merch and it not impacting my love of the movie for the joy it brought my family. It's funny, it really is hard to put into words. It has all the elements the Disney movies had been somewhat lacking for about 20 years. I know Disney is milking it for all it's worth, but it's understandable, and I'm glad to have the dolls and other items to buy for keepsakes. They do seem to be keeping quality pretty good. Thanks for the sentiment about getting the SQ. Maybe when the hype dies down a bit I'll get lucky, or Disney will release a similar version. There is something special about those 17" dolls, though. But who knows, my niece may hate dolls when she's older so I'd just be getting it for me. As much as I love dolls, I wouldn't want to spend that much on something like that just for me. I do feel extremely fortunate to have been able to afford and get the other versions of Elsa.I know it's a bit off topic when it comes to dolls, but I just had to thank you for sharing your connection to Frozen - it's so sweet to see someone else affected by frozen for similar reasons that the movie still brings tears and chills to me. My nieces both so enjoyed the movie and it ended up getting my entire family involved. We all have always loved Disney, but for a movie to bring us together like that, and the timing of when it came out... yeah, hard to put into words  I know there's a hype, and I know there's a huge overflow of merch for it, but it doesn't make me love it any less => All the best in finding a snow queen collectible doll for your collection! <3

That is so sweet! I really hope you will manage to find SQ Elsa one day for a great price to give to your niece, or that they will finally make the Frozen Fever dolls with a long-braid Elsa for you.
The Once Upon a Time set for sure! I REALLY hope that more OUAT dolls will get released soon, especially if they are open edition or at least LE with a high edition size.Still pretty bummed there are so few of them, but no doubt they will make anyone lucky enough to have them very happy.
It looks like the OUAT dolls are only gonna be available at the D23 Expo, which is also where the two stars will be available for autographs (on the outer boxes, I guess?).
