DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
I keep hoping to see a side pic of Aladdin to see how bad his nose is

Thank you for sharing - I hadn't seen that last picture! He is definitely one of the better male dolls.

I know we've seen enough dolls to last a lifetime these past 24 hours but I wonder if we'll see 17" Hans or another Kristoff?

I can't believe we're getting bombarded with so much (I say as I look back on how many 4th Quarters of them doing this to us).

A bit off topic, but I've really been giving some serious thought to selling my Snow Queen Elsa to get my grail doll (Snow White).

I think I'm the only one who thinks Aladdin looks great lol

Oh you aren't the only one lol. I personally LOVE how Aladdin looks, but I just hate his pose and his nose is starting to bother me now that several people have pointed it out. I do think he could be better, but I do still really like him.

I think he looks great too. I LOVE his smirk. Yeah, his face mold isn't 100% accurate but NONE of the 2D animated characters have had super accurate molds (and the villains always seem to come the closest) so I'll give them a pass, even with his slightly thinned out nose. He definitely does not share a face mold with Prince Phillip who is very somber and serious looking.

I do think his in box pose is weird and awkward but I can see WHY they posed him like that with those shots of the back of his vest, which is where most of his outfit's embroidered detail is. Also you get a better view of Abu <3 I'll probably open mine and turn his head slightly so he's not looking THAT far back when I get him though, heh.

I am kind of bummed that he comes with a sword instead of the lamp, though. Actually, there seems to be a distinct lack of Genie merchandise in general which is incredibly disappointing and I would say that even if Robin Williams were still with us (AND OH DO I WISH HE WAS :'( :'( ) It's Aladdin's Diamond celebration, first time on bluray, and first time out of the vault in 11 (ELEVEN!!!!) years! And all he got was a plush and a boys/mens t-shirt? Not enough! On the other hand, I'm already going to be spending way too much money on Disney stuff over the next few months hahaha....*cries*

I think red Jasmine looks beautiful! Most of the merch we got a glimpse of yesterday does! Highly considering branching out to my second LE doll for Jafar, but I am ACHING to see what the hat actually looks like!

I agree with this 100%. I have never seen a doll look more faced with terrible news than Phillip before (well, maybe the new DFDC Snow White), and in my opinion this new Aladdin looks nothing like him face mold or otherwise.

I am also yet another person who didn't notice his nose until it was pointed out, and now I can't stop looking at it!

Wow! These pics look even more beautiful!

Oh god you are right! I didn't even notice the lamp was missing until now! That was something I was REALLY wanting the 17 inch doll to include...DARN IT DISNEY! How could they not include arguably the most iconic and important item in the entire film!? Ugh. But I totally get you on the lack of Genie merchandise. Genie is my second favorite Disney character, and he is one of the reasons I love the movie so much. Not to mention that Robin Williams was one of my heroes and someone I greatly admired, with Genie being my favorite performance by him. He is arguably more iconic than Aladdin and Jasmine, so that makes his absence all the more confusing and disappointing.

I think the lack of genie merch has to do with licensing issues that arose after his death. Genie has always had licensing issues.

If there really does end up being a lack of genie merch, it could be out of respect for Robin Williams. He and Disney had a major feud when the movie was released because he wasn't supposed to be featured prominently in marketing and merch (due to other contract obligations) and then they put him front and center.

As for the Aladdin doll, I don't think anyone doesn't like him--I actually love everything from his outfit to his pose. And after I compared his nose to the ones on his other dolls, it doesn't bother me. All 17" revealed at D23 are totally amazing.

Wow. Just... wow. Never expected this many dolls to be released in one quarter. And here we all thought last March was bad! And, boy, did Disney work to pull out all the stops! Where do I even start?

Probably easiest to start with Jafar. He does look incredible, but I was never interested in getting him and my decision still stands. As much as I love Jonathan Freeman (seriously, I completely flipped when I heard he was gonna reprise his role on Broadway), Jafar was never my favorite villain.

Aladdin is amazing, even with the wrong nose (oops!). I don't even mind that he doesn't have the lamp, that's how much he impresses me. So glad his edition number is 5000. That makes it easier for everyone to snag him.

I would have originally said that Red Jasmine is a shock, as I was dead certain we'd be getting the purple variant of the outfit, but when all the other rumors about the Designer collection turned out to be true, I pretty much assumed that the red outfit was going to be accurate as well. Only a 500 edition size IS disappointing, especially since I was never gonna be able to attend the expo, so I'm hoping her price isn't $500 like we had with Wedding Cinderella because otherwise she'll be impossible to pick up on the secondary market.

Shocked to see LE Star Wars merchandise, let alone a Leia doll, but beyond that, this doesn't excite me. I enjoy the Star Wars franchise, but not enough to want any merchandise from it.

Frozen Fever Anna and Elsa are absolute gems. I knew we'd be getting them eventually, but I never suspected it would be on top of Aladdin's year AND the new DFDC line. I was anticipating Frozen Fever to be next March's release. Boy, and am I happy to see them. Taking a closer look, we've all ready seen the tinsel and I definitely noticed a distinctive shine to their bodies (with the exception of their faces) when I zoomed in on the images from the blog. However, both the tinsel and the shine is extremely subtle (to the point where I even had to zoom in to see it and I'm still not a hundred percent convinced that the shimmer isn't just crappy lighting reflecting off the dolls), so chances are it's barely noticeable in person.

Okay, so there's my 2 cents. And all I can say is... OI!!!

What happened to Alladin's wrist articulation, hopefully that will be fixed. And I so excited for frozen fever Elsa!! I'm so glad that the tinsel is done tastefully and if there is any shimmer, then it's done tastefully too. These doll are a huge upgrade from the last frozen sweat. I just hope not many people will go get the dolls when the time comes. I need a queen Elsa badly!!

I am really hoping my store is done with renovations by then because if not I'm going to cry... I'm really not wanting to face the website and possibility of it crashing.
