Getting away from talk of new releases I was wondering if anyone has done any adjustments to the LE dolls like slightly adjust the pose without debooxing fully? One think I would like to improve is Auroras hair, she's one of my favourite dolls and I love her but the one thing I dislike is how the ends of the hair are tied in curly bunches! If I cut the ties on her but didn't debox Her fully would her hair look better?
 

I deboxed my Aurora doll, but what I would do is cut the hair ties, and to keep the hair from moving much you should run a thin piece of thread that goes over her hair into some holes in the box; so the thread will go over one side of Aurora's hair, then behind aurora, and then over the last section of hair.
 
So I just got the chance to rewatch Frozen Fever last night and I got a refresher on what Elsa and Anna looked like.

For the most part, Elsa is practically a perfect doll. It looks like the inside of her dress is blue, which is really nice. I just noticed it in the short! I think Tinsel is really good on Elsa because her hair has a lot of icicles on it and having the tinsel gives it the necessary shine, besides, the colors blend well with the shine.

As for Anna... I think the clock that she's holding is a bit smaller than it should be. And Shame on Elsa for giving her a gift that is not yet finished! That clock needs some paint!
 
Theirs far too many dolls coming out and that close to Christmas I can't justify buying them all so I have decided to get four dolls. 100% trying for the Frozen Fever Anna/Elsa as they are the stunning but then can't decide on the other two. Was going to get the Elsa/Hans set as I love that set and Elsa is in blue and then was going to get Anna/Kristoff as I will be at the store anyhow for the FF dolls and it would be nice to have Hans,elsa,Kristoff and Anna in a LE doll but then I do prefer the 17 inch dolls so dunno if to get the FF dolls and Jasmine and Jafar.
 

I've fully deboxed my Aurora and her hair is just kind of a mess without the ties, if anything deboxing ruined her curls! I really wanted to try out a curling technique I saw on YouTube so I gave her a full head of ringlets. It looks great but I'm tempted to do it again, only curling the ends so she looks more movie accurate.
 
I like the Aladdin doll, but I really wished they would have put him in his Prince Ali outfit. To me not only would it have looked much better, but the price tag would have been more justified imo.
 
I was there at D23 and I have to say I think it's disgusting that people were walking out of the Disney Store with not only the exclusives, but also gobs of the same item and worst of all, there were no controls. One woman, I kid you not, had like 4 or 5 of the Snow White/Hag handbags and like 30 of the D23 vinyl Mickey Tsum Tsums. I don't know how that can even happen. I wasn't able to two of the things I really wanted because one sold out before I even got in the door on Friday and the other sold out while I was line. I waited in line 5 hours on Friday and 2 hours on Sunday to get other things, but I was so angry and sad because I knew people were flipping them for 5 or 10 times what they paid. In the end I had to go to eBay to get one item and I was so disappointed that greed was the only thing that was guiding people during the Expo. Those of us who love a certain character lost out because of the people who just wanted to make money and I think that's horrible. I wish that Disney could do something about that. I wish they could go on eBay and force those greedy people to take down the obscenely high starting prices so that everyone has a chance to get the thing they really want at a reasonable price. I'm sure that'll never happen...
 

Totally agree with you on all points. Friday was like a lost day 'cause I missed out on everything while waiting in line to NOT get what I went for. And to see prices on eBay that first day soaring to $1000 for the Elsa/Hans, I seriously wanted to punch people. It's like, thanks for taking away the magic for those people who really would cherish having these dolls in their collection.
 

Absolutely disgusting. I would contact Disney with this story. They need to know. Seriously, they have rules set in place to protect people on their store website and at the actual stores themselves, limiting the amount of items (specifically LE's) that a person can checkout with, so why don't those same rules apply to the expo? How does that make ANY logical sense?

This really sums up the D23 experience for me. I still had a good time with my friends because I CHOSE to have a good time after I showed up at opening on Friday and everything was sold out before I even allowed in the gates. I think it is really unfair the LE items weren't at the very, very least limited to 1 per guest. After the absolute madness and tiny edition sizes, that's the least they could have done. I so wish they'd followed the WonderCon/other big con model where they stated what was sold and when it was sold out. You had to wait in these heinous 3-8 hour lines just to find out there was nothing you wanted. I don't think I'll be going back to D23...

Even though ugh ive never been to the expo, I can relate to that. When there was the Frozen toy shortage, my sister wanted the Disney store Elsa, so we had to wait in line early in the morning so we could get get them. So we're next in line, and this guy in front of us takes one of all the frozen merch including the last Elsa doll; so at that point my sister is in tears while my parents were mad that the Disney store had loads of Hans, kristoffs, and Annas, but only a few Elsas.
 
Well, it's the first post-Frozen D23, so yeah lol.

It was also the most hush-hush. There were actual surprises this year at the Disney Store. I think it will only get worse, so I don't plan to go. I'd rather just live vicariously through others and buy from scalpers. It doesn't seem worth it to me.
 
Just got back from D23 and I didn't enjoy it much at all. Such a negative and greedy atmosphere over merchandise. People were pushing and shoving and cutting in line and the people working there didn't care or even try to do anything about it. I was able to get the Elsa/Hans set and red Jasmine but not the OUAT set. When I grabbed my red Jasmine in the store, some guy came up to me and said, "Hey, you know, these are selling for over $1000 on ebay." And I'm like, "Yeah, thanks for the tip, but I'm actually getting this for myself!" Ugh.

I was turned off by the entire experience-- not just the merchandise aspect of it, but everything. I didn't feel it was worth the cost of the ticket because you spend so much time in line that you are lucky if you get to do one or two things the entire day. Waiting in lines for hours for everything and having to rush to get in line for this or that and everything filled up or sold out or gone as soon as you got there. I didn't make it to any of the major panels because the lines were so long and only made it to a few of the smaller ones. And it was very frustrating to see everything you wanted but missed out on posted to ebay for hundreds and even thousands of dollars just a few hours later and with some resellers having four or five multiples of the item you wanted. They could and should have limited items to one per person for the entire expo not per day-- or per transaction, I should say.

On Sunday, they were giving out Frozen Fever lithographs but they stopped handing them out as soon as I got up to the line. I then tried to get in line for the Frozen Fever signing (where they were handing out the same lithographs) but they cut the line off and I was turned away. I left and find out that five minutes later they let more people into the line and then closed it again. I hung around for another 30 minutes as I was told they might hand out the remaining lithographs when the signing was over, but when it was done, they decided they weren't going to hand them out --- even though they had a huge stack and the expo would be ending in about an hour. It was these illogical, random decisions that really frustrated me (not to mention I wasted an hour of my time for nothing). If they had so many left and they had handed them out to other people, why couldn't they just give me one? I paid for my expo ticket just like every one else. I only wanted one to hang on the wall next to my Frozen dolls. Meanwhile, other people were walking around with two and three of these in their hands. And now, these free lithographs are selling on ebay for around $60-100.

D23 advertises all of these wonderful things to see and do and buy but it is just a set up for disappointment. I knew there would be lines and that I wouldn't be able to do everything but it was a lot worse that I expected. Disney breeds this madness and negativity on purpose and by the end of the expo I felt like a fool for getting sucked up into it. Maybe I'm just stupid and naive, but this sort of greed-driven frenzy is not what made me a Disney fan, and I was completely disgusted by it.

I think the problem is Disney doesn't REALLY know what they're doing when it comes to this kind of stuff. They make lovable movies and beautiful character designs, but they're pretty ***-backwards about their merch and now D23. It's still a pretty new convention, so maybe they're still figuring things out. I haven't read many positive experiences about this year's expo. A lot of that has to do with the greed that's been mounting over the past couple years (yes, I'm looking at you, Frozen!) and Disney not adjusting their numbers to reflect that. They clearly like this madness, but it's not driving away fans, so why would they stop? Sorry to hear about your experience, amm3. I would be really disappointed and angry to pay all that money for THAT!!!

I really, really feel you! I didn't get to go to any panels because of the arbitrary cut offs that would re-open the second we walked away. We waited for hours in the StagePass line for the Zootopia panel and right when we got to the front, it said they were sold out. I was fine shrugging that off since I knew it was a possibility, but we got out of line and an announcement came saying they opened more space for it. GREAT.
I also didn't get any of the merchandise because it was just too crazy for me. I literally bought one thing at the entire Expo because it was just so incredibly hard to get near even open edition merchandise or the giveaway items. Disney could have done a lot to keep it less frustrating than it was which is the major disappointment I'm suffering.

I seriously only enjoyed the convention because my friends and boyfriend had great attitudes. They channeled my disappointment into being silly and having fun together instead. I think next time I'll propose we save up to go to multiple Mickey's Halloween Party nights instead since the only fun thing about the expo was the cosplay (both participating in it and viewing it on fellow patrons).

Thanks Quasimodo. I had a great time at Disneyland afterwards, but this will be my last D23 expo unless I score a Sorcerer's ticket. Although I do think it is kind of sad you have to pay for a $2000 ticket to have a decent experience. I had a much better time at the Destination D event in Orlando last year -- that event is much smaller, you could walk into the panels at the last minute, and there wasn't such a huge focus on LE merchandise.

However, it was cool to see the dolls that will be coming out. I am very excited for the Frozen Fever dolls!!!!
 


I agree. I know conventions always have long lines and LE merchandise, but this event could have been more organized and the people that worked there could have been more knowledgeable and helpful. I had a StagePass for the OUAT panel and the crowd was so bad I could not find the end of the line. I asked FOUR different staffers who were supposed to be in charge of the line where the end of it was and no one could tell me. One of them said "I don't know" and then just WALKED AWAY. Didn't even try to help. It literally took me 20 minutes to find the end of the line and that was because a manager finally told me "stand there." As soon as I did, another staffer came up and told me to move as I was in the wrong place. Luckily, the manager came up and told them to let me stay where I was. It then took a full 30 minutes to file everyone into the room, and the panel started 45 minutes late.

And after waiting 20 hours overnight for a chance at the OUAT dolls and being pushed out of line by line cutters, I get into the Disney Store on Friday morning and this very rude manager is telling some people who also camped out overnight and had been at the front of the line that wristbands were given out the night before for the dolls and you should have gotten in line for them if you wanted them. We're all saying we've been in line since yesterday-- so when the heck were wrist bands given out as no one saw this happen. He says "well some people are lining up right now for tomorrow so if you want a chance at them you should get in line." (This is at 9am in the morning, btw.) And we're like, we've been in line for 20 freaking hours and you're telling us to get right back in line for tomorrow, are you kidding me?! He then says go complain at guest services if you have a problem. (Really magical customer service experience right there.) Of course, guest services said they had nothing to do with the line, it was the Disney store. But they said only 50 OUAT dolls were released on Friday and those, as far as I know, all went to Sorcerers. (I guess they were the ones that got the wristbands).

I feel that more information should have been released about LE items, instead they decided to keep us in the dark. If I had known that only 50 dolls were being released that morning no way would I have camped out that long. Plus, I had decided to just try for merchandise for Friday only and then they announced that Jasmine would be released on Saturday, so I ended up waiting in line another four hours on Saturday just to try for her. Wish they would have announced what was going to be released ahead of time and released a bit of everything everyday so you didn't have to wait in line at the store everyday for something new. I would have liked the tsum tsums that were released on Sunday but it wasn't worth it to me to stand in the store line again.

Anyway, I could go on and on with my complaints about this event, so I'll just stop now. All I can say is I had a pretty miserable experience and leave it at that. :rant:

Semi-decent experience for Sorcerers. More decent if they didn't want any of the LE merchandise, but if they wanted the OUAT dolls, they had to line up beginning around midnight to be in the first group of sorcerers to get it (apparently, they limited the #s of dolls/wristbands they handed out).
 

Well, at least Sorcerers had a chance at them...and it seems as if many of the Sorcerers were able to get multiple sets, according to the ebay listings. Someone said on Facebook that only 11 of the 300 sets went to non-Sorcerers.

I fault Disney for only making 300 of these. People have been wanting OUAT dolls for YEARS and they had to have known this would have been a popular item. It's just cruel if you ask me. If they had made more of these, there wouldn't have been so many people after them just to resell them.

As it happened, they should have just made these dolls a part of the exclusive Sorcerer package like some of the other things, instead of making it out like normal ticketgoers had a fair chance at them as a lot of people, myself included, waited in line for hours for nothing. But then of course Disney wouldn't have gotten all the free publicity in the news about people waiting in overnight lines at the expo.
 

Yes, they should have made it as part of the RSP process for Sorcerers so that we would all know whether they had sold out or not...

I was referring to the cameras and news people out on Thursday night/Friday morning reporting on all the people in line waiting for the expo to open. The Disney staffers actually woke up the first 200 people in line at 4am to be background for several news pieces. Didn't explain what was happening, didn't ask us if we wanted to do it, just woke us up from sleeping to go outside and cheer for the cameras for a couple of hours. The only reason everyone played along was because we didn't know why they were waking us up and we didn't want to lose our places in line. I lost several hours of much needed sleep because of this so they could use us like puppets. This was another thing that really ticked me off.

But you're right, most of what is out now has focused on the horrible lines and resellers and such. I'm glad they're getting negative publicity over it, but I don't have much hope they are going to do anything about it or change it for the next expo.

Well I just ordered a second Teal Jasmine. My Disney Store called me yesterday and said they got three more from another store and told me to come in if I wanted one. I was only going to get a second one if my offer for a Designer Aurora didn't get accepted (which it didn't) so I went in today after work and purchased one under my husband's name to get around the one per person rule. He will have to pick it up for me though. I told my husband if I couldn't get the D23 Jasmine, I'd get another teal Jasmine to debox since she's my favorite princess. I can't wait to get her! <3
 

Wow, I can't believe some stores still have Teal Jasmine! She's such a pretty doll; I can't believe she hasn't sold out yet.
