DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion

Congrats to the people who got their wanted dolls in Europe - seems like only Aurora went quickly.

My Aurora was finally shipped today… sorta…
The e-mail didn't include a tracking number and she's still "active" and not shipped in my order history.
Keep up the good work Disney...

I pre-ordered the pink Aurora from the US without a problem so I have her at least. But I had no chance buying blue Aurora and Maleficent in the german store They both got kicked out after 40 minutes in the process of paying. At least I also got the Cinderella couple.

I will try in the US store tomorrow but I think it will be hell too. I just hope this teaches them not to put them all up on sale at once (hahaha!)

Soooo looking at the stock pictures on the UK site, like lordofanime I can't help but notice some substantial differences between the boxed pictures of the dolls and the unboxed pictures. This is perplexing because I don't think I've ever seen Disney use alternate prototype dolls for their stock photos before?

Phillip is the same (for better or worse depending on your personal opinion).

In-box Maleficent has a black neck to match her cowl (but still has a bare chest) and has large red panels on her skirt (which could have been covered by her sleeves in the unboxed picture, but they certainly weren't that close to the middle accent panel). From what I can see in those in-store photos, the in-box version is the one we're actually getting.

In-box blue Aurora is perhaps the most distressing. She has lost all the excess jewels on her skirt, bodice, and sleeves (again, for better or worse depending on who you ask). The panels on her skirt are as wide as the pink version, not velvety looking, and the rose embroidery is not filled in. She is literally a carbon copy of the pink version, but in blue. Alas, I can't quite tell which one it is in the in-store photos. But given Maleficent, I'm not holding out hope for the unboxed version

Ugh, why Disney? On top of everything else, why did you take the trouble to take so many stock photos of dolls you aren't selling?

Has anyone ever shipped from the UK to Australia?? I'm finding it hard to believe they want to charge 95 pounds to ship 2 dolls.

Oh dear, you're right. It does look like the blue has gone from major tweak to simple color change. That's highly distressing, as I'm getting ready to go get her at the store in a few hours and it appears that they've removed all the fixes i liked. I really liked the filed in rose and added panels and possible fabric switch. It made the design so much better and it's alarming that the prototype would be so different. That's common in figures, but this is the first I've seen here. Maleficent is an improvement, but still off. I don't think those are red panels though, just the underside of the cloak turned up.

Most distressing indeed.

I honestly didn't even notice that until you brought it up since I was still looking at the stock photos for Blue Aurora and upon looking at in-box picture, I must say I'm disappointed. I was so determined to get Blue Aurora despite having pre-ordered Pink Aurora because of the subtle differences they have at least made in between. Now I don't know if I can justify spending the same amount of money for literally the same doll and dress just repainted blue.

I did, however, love the box Maleficent is in and noticed that they've covered her neck up slightly. Still not a big fan of the wide v-neck but she definitely looks better in-box. Decisions decisions...

The covered neck is a huge improvement, if somewhat even more indicative of the Angelina Jolie gown. The red panels do pull it more in line with the classic. No idea ifi should pick her up now. I actually still like Philip, but I feel he's going to be a lot easier to get later than the other two.

I'm still feeling highly disappointed at the apparent downgrade of Aurora. It's like advertising the November Frozen dolls with pictures of the Harrod's set. I'd have been totally fine if that's what they'd shown and I'd have gotten her over the pink still, but it's irksome that is not what was advertised. It's actually makes me less likely of keeping my pink. Though I'm sure all bets are off once see them in a few hours.

Well look. All look great in person, but for me Maleficent stands out and I was very unhappy when I saw the pics. Box, gown, face...good!!! Still not exactly acc to cartoon but gorgeous. Barbie and Ken are fine...

Maleficent in person is amazing and by far my favourite! So happy with her. And before seeing her in person she was my least favourite. She's amazing. Love her box! Super happy with Phillip too, looks so much better in person. Couldn't get Aurora in store but managed to order the blue one onlineMet some lovely people in the queue as well.

I tried to get Aurora pink and blue for nearly an hour in our german store, but i couldn't get her. I am very disappointed. So i decided to buy the Mulan Couple next week instead.
Well at least Aurora is not thaaat expensive on ebay... i am thinking of buying her there since i haven't any other choice. Nevertheless i am glad that a few could get her, but i think most of the german fans couldn't get her (that's what they say on facebook and some other forum).

I only just noticed the blue Aurora being the same as the pink. hope it's only the online photo that looks like that, wanted the blue since she was a different design to the pink which I liked less.

I've seen some in store photos and it looks like we're getting the less detailed one. I'm so annoyed, I only bought both pink and blue because I thought there were bigger differences.

agreed and like for you and others its a cop out for people who bought both. Don't understand why they advertised the more detailed version.

So Aurora's blue dress is basically the same as the pink dress, just ... blue? Sorry to hear that.

If anybody doesn't want her/his blue or pink Aurora anymore, feel free to PM me please!

I managed to get Blue Aurora and Maleficent; I'm still in two minds about getting Prince Phillip since I'm not 100% on his hair and face. Like a lot of people, I didn't notice the changes until after buying since the image of the dolls in the boxes are literally last in the line up after all the promo pictures so you have to arrow across. While I prefer the promo version, I wanted to get Aurora anyway as she's one of my top Princesses and I happened to prefer the blue dress to the pink in the movie. So, at least I got my favourite colour!
