DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
I know most people are glad Disney is cutting back on dolls, but I was at least hoping that they would announce a doll of Rey to go with the release of Star Wars Ep. 7 on blu-ray (though I would be fine with just a standard film collection doll of her). Also, even though I really am not that excited for the new Alice film, I can't help but be a little bit excited over the thought of how nice those dolls are going to look. I just love the costume design for those movies. I really want to see the platinum set in particular.

As for the question on if the designer Alice and Queen of Hearts set will be based off the animated or live action films, I think we can say, for a fact, that it will be based off the original animated movie. It would be weird to have one live action set while the rest are animated, and the animated Alice is the more iconic and recognizable of the two versions.

Oh, I got confused since I saw that it said Alice and the red queen, and in the animated version she's called the queen of hearts. Either way I'm sure the set will look wonderful. I wonder if they'll make a new body mold for Alice to look more like a little girl.

I assume they would use the same body mold for Alice as they made for Peter Pan. That was actually my first thought when really looking over the Hook/Pan set, that Pan's body would totally work for a child Alice with the Queen of Hearts. It's the Queen of Heart's body mold that would have to be brand new as she's a large woman. They could use Ursula's upper body but I dunno what they would do for the torso/legs. Possibly just a soft body with plastic legs like they did for King Fergus' doll a few years ago if anyone has him. It wouldn't matter too much as her lower body will be covered by her skirt anyway!

It's possible that they could use Peter Pan's body mold, or they might make a new mold for her, or use the regular princess body. I wonder how the queen of hearts will turn out though.

I'm really hoping they're movie accurate dolls simply because I'm not that into the Alice live action and like everyone has said above I'm kind of enjoying the doll break... So if they aren't based on the animated I won't be as tempted. I collect monster high, ever after, Barbie and sooo much more and the past few months have been busy so I'm all for milking this break.

I would love a LE Rey doll from Disney she's my favorite from the movie and I do collect her merchandise what little there is anyway. I am getting her 1/6th scale figure from Hot Toys(I collect figures from this company) and it looks Amazing! Still would love. Disney Store LE doll of her though

Are the Disney Store fairy dolls (Tink, Periwinkle etc.) smaller/younger than the Disney Store Classic dolls? If so, maybe that can be the body used for Alice.

They are, but they have something on their back that holds the wings though. It's part of their mold.

Someone on tumblr said that there could be surprise release for the two dolls together! I really hope so! It would be freakin' awesome! Otherwise we will probably never get them... :/

I heard about that! I'm pretty sure they will release Le dolls of them. It just seems too coincidental that they are realizing the next two princess movies that are missing from the Le doll list. And undoubtedly, there will be variants

I thought the same thing! It's too coincidental this double release! If they'll do variants, which is likely, it's pretty obvious what they'll choose for Mulan! Pocahontas on the other hand have only one outfit in the first movie, I'm curious to see what they'll do about that! If they do anything!

I could see Disney releasing super limited variants of the regular Le dolls for Pocahontas and Mulan. Mulan of course will be in her pink dress as the general release, and her warrior outfit as a variant. Pocahontas will probably only have one doll, unless they also make her in that dress from the sequel.

I'm undecided between the pink and blue one! Probably the first one though! I also thought about the dress from the sequel! We'll see! I'm excited! *__

I love Mulan's green and yellow outfit from the beginning of the movie, but her warrior of china one would be great as well. It makes me sad when they do the matchmaker one as Mulan wasn't happy or herself there, so it's not a good representation of her. I will be so, so happy if they make Mulan.

Pocahontas would be gorgeous as well and I hope that they give her a nice necklace. They never seem to put as much effort into that part as they should.

You're totally right!

Something like this would be awesome!

Btw you're so right about that, with a "plain" outfit like Pocahontas's, something like jewelry and accessories should have more importance!

I was waiting for someone to mention that Disney Movie Club ad. Its such a random and bizarre re-release that it gives me a lot of hope that we might FINALLY get dolls of these characters. The opportunity is just too perfect for them to not make any dolls. If we don't get them this year with this release, then I think its time to just face the music and accept that Disney will probably never make them.

As for the outfits, I would love to see Mulan in the "savior of China" outfit from the end of the movie. Its my favorite outfit from the film, and I think it captures the character best and is a good representation of all that she wen't through (plus you could include the sword and medallion). The matchmaker outfit is beautiful to be sure, but its been so overdone by this point that I would really like something different. Pocahontas has a really plain outfit to be sure, but I still think you can do some pretty gorgeous things with it. I can imagine them using some beautiful native american inspired beading.

I dunno...dolls for them haven't been mentioned in any of this year's rumours lists, only the Alice dolls in May and Moana in the fall. That advertisement also seems to indicate those films will be available through Disney Movie Club only which makes sense as you can already buy both films (with their crappy sequels) on bluray in wide release for the past few years.

If there's going to be any new surprise dolls for the summer sadly I think it might be more Frozen dolls (ugh)

Read here as to why: http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disney-frozen-northern-lights-short-85082/

I would MUCH rather see Pocahontas and Mulan get the 17" treatment than more freaking Frozen dolls but if that short is real Anna and Elsa WILL have new outfits and we WILL get dolls of them in those outfits at the expense of any other character. Sadly Disney will never get off of Frozen's teat, it still makes them way too much money. Sigh.

Star Wars makes a crap ton of money too, WHERE'S MY REY DOLL DISNEY (and Kylo Ren and Finn and Poe and Leia and Han SERIOUSLY I WOULD BUY EVERY CHARACTER) But, not they're not Frozen characters so that's that :(

These movies are not exclusives. I have been a member for a few years now, and exclusive titles always state they are exclusives in the descriptions for them on their product pages and in the pamphlets. Plus, DMC exclusive titles tend to be films and TV shows that don't already have a modern day widespread DVD or Blu-ray release (Swiss Family Robinson, the Apple Dumpling Gang, Kim Possible, etc.). These are just really random re-releases that have new packaging and contain only a Blu-ray and a digital HD copy, which the two packs didn't have. So I think its entirely possible that this could FINALLY be the year we get Pocahontas and Mulan even if the chances are still really small.

As for the possibility of even more bloody Frozen dolls, I am afraid you might be right. I didn't even think about that possibility until you brought it up, but I think its expected by this point. They released a ton of merchandise for Frozen Fever, and it was just a short. This new project is believed to be a longer TV special. That means we will probably be getting yet another Anna and Elsa to add to the line up and maybe that Hans doll that so many people want for some reason. I'm going to be really disappointed and sad if Disney skips over Mulan and Pocahontas yet again for other characters, especially after showing that they are open to creating dolls of characters besides their usual line up. We REALLY don't need anymore Frozen dolls Disney!

EDIT: Oh, and I want a Rey doll sooooo badly. I'll even take a Force Awakens film collection line!

That outfit would be gorgeous. I'm just really hoping they give these girls dolls.

I would absolutely buy Rey as well, the Princess Leia doll at least shows that they'd think about it.

Whaaat? Another Frozen short? Are you serious? If they seriously release more Frozen LE Dolls at this point they need to release a 17" Hans.

Anyway, a 17" Rey Doll would be so amazing <3

this was my second thought when I received this ad in the mail. I hope we get LE dolls of Mulan and Pocahontas finally. My first thought was yes I can own the films as a stand alone release and not with their crappy godawful direct to video sequels lol. We must get these two as LE dolls come on Disney get on it

Don't forget we still have that frozen special in December *groan* I like frozen, but it's getting super tiring of seeing their faces plastered everywhere. I wouldn't mind that much, but it's boring seeing them in the same boring poses, etc. But I guess when Disney has a money maker they clutch it strong. I remember seeing that they have over 200 items on the online Disney store, while not even other popular movies have that much merchandise. :( I guess the thing that probably pisses me off the most is that we didn't get any special merchandise for Snow White this year at all, or any Le doll for her, while frozen has had five different doll versions including the harrods version.

I'm fairly positive that they will get dolls. It's too suspicious that the only two princesses missing Le dolls are being released together.

I find it hard to believe that they will release both dolls soon. The blu-rays being released are a result of Hasbro's initiative to push Mulan and Pocahontas more so than Mattel. It's pretty evident by the atrocious cover art and the fact that they will have the same exact discs as the older releases (I've heard from several people).

Also, these releases do seem like a DMC exclusive, or a pre-release at least, since they're not available anywhere else.

I just we just need to accept that Disney will not make Mulan or Pocahontas.

They might be getting a pre-release on DMC, but they certainly are not exclusives or timed exclusives like the Aladdin sequels were (though that could always change seeing they aren't up for order anywhere else). If they were, they would have made that clear in the item descriptions and on their pages on the DMC website. They are marketing these like any other Disney blu-ray, with the only real difference from the last releases being that they are each just one movie with the special features and a digital copy in new (and rather poor looking) packaging.

If we don't get dolls of Mulan and/or Pocahontas this year, then I am giving up all hope of them ever getting the heirloom treatment. There have been too many opportunities for them to happen by this point.

Im not getting my hopes up at all. Id love them and id buy them but I still think its pretty slim. Disney threw every pattern out of the window this year so i couldnt even guess when or even if theyll have more of the classics or what they'll do. I really miss all the fun release days and all the anticipation. the live action dolls yes but Im not wanting any of the live actions or fab 5.
