DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion

Lol, sweet bread rolls. I'm going to think of that every time I look at her hair now!

Ugh, I just had a horrible, horrible thought... I hope Disney doesn't try to release say a "Platinum" Frozen Fever Elsa or "Platinum" version Jasmine or something like that. Please, please Disney don't make this a "thing." I could see the most coveted doll in every upcoming release now being "Platinum."

Me at the thought of this.. (stress and anxiety not excitement..lol)

I wouldn't be surprised if disney released frozen fever dolls as a surprise release. It seems that with current popularity of collecting these dolls disney is making numerous ones that aren't really significant like the new frozen Le dolls. Another thing that wouldnt be surprising is disney making a harrods cinderella set. When they do make dolls, they should be more "spaced" out and more creative and eye catching. I also wondered if disney will ever end this doll line, or if they would keep on going with their movies being re released again with more dolls of the same characters.

I am really looking forward to the blue Cinderella. Blue certainly seems to always be in season with Disney. Lol. Everyone seems to really love their classic dolls in this style. So this is the perfect alternative for collectors that are only into LE's. Would have loved to see the Fairy Godmother make it to the 17 line. As for the $500 doll?! Disney seems to be jacking up the prices just about everywhere they can.. Oh well, just buy what makes you happy. Also did anyone else notice that the dolls will be online before in stores? Is this Disneys way of trying to stop early links? #savethelinkfairies.
I started collecting 17's with the November set and have the set that followed. I knew right from the first release photos that Snow Queen Elsa was "the one". So I feel very lucky that I got into collecting at the right time. This new set just seems like over kill for my collection at this point. Though I am super happy for the newbies that get to have their first set with this release. I hope for everyone that their doll dreams come true, when the time comes. ~Aloha:wavey:

I kinda hope/wish the new Cinderella is holding a glass slipper, it's a shame to put beautiful shoes on her and then cover it with her gown.

If she does come with glass slippers (and really she should do for the price, plus the DFC doll has them) then if you can't see them already re-posing her holding one of them is a great idea

I really wish they had done something with the face molds of these new dolls as they both look rather cross, just like the 12" versions.

Every time I look at the wedding doll I see a pile of money that could've been paid to the factory workers.

I would love to know if anyone is planning on buying the wedding doll? I'm surprised they didn't just do it as another Harrods release because even though it's still stupidly expensive I suppose you could get away with it in Harrods - not that it rights either....

I'm going back and forth on the Wedding doll. I said I wasn't going to buy her but now I'm being wishy washy. She is not worth $500, that much is true. But I am tying the knot soon and she would be a nice piece to have in the collection. However the intelligent thing to do would be to save that money FOR said wedding...but he knows I'm a crazy doll lady so its not like it would be a surprise...
Should I?? :anxious:

Should I?? :anxious:

I paid a LITTLE less than this for Tiana. She's one of my favorite Disney characters and her doll is beautiful. I don't regret the money at all and am SO happy to have her in my collection. If you feel the same way then you should.

If you don't $500-love this doll, then you shouldn't.

I don't know too many collectors who plan to get her (and we all know a lot of collectors), so I can't see her selling out too quickly. If she does, it'll be to scalpers who'll be stuck with her for a long time. So you'll probably have some time to think about it.

Congratulations! I think in your situation I'd have to get her because it's quite symoblic for you and I think she would mean more to you. But I know what you mean about putting it towards a wedding because they are sooooo expensive!! Let us know what you decide

congrats! c:

i would say wait until we get more photos and the photo of her in the box. i feel like that will help with your decision.

i agree with Quasimodo.

i feel, probably wrongfully, that she is similar to the 12" and that one comes with the prince! lol

do what feels right. on one hand, it would be a wonderful commemoration gift and the memories attached to the doll. on the other hand, that money could be spent towards the wedding or even a vacation after the wedding?

tough choices, courtesy of disney. i still can't believe this doll is 500$. looking at the comparisons is just like... they could have done more.

I do think the Wedding Doll is pretty and I would have gotten her for around $120 or so, but not for $500. She would have to be something extraordinary for me to pay that amount. I recently passed up an opportunity to get an LE Tiana (one of my grails) for about the same price so I can't really see paying that much for this. A lot of collectors won't get her because of the price, but she is such a low edition size so she will still sell. I'm sure there are at least 500 people worldwide who will want her and won't care about the cost. The US is only getting 250 -- that is a really low amount.

so on the fence about getting the blue gown doll. to just save myself some nerves and go with the mattel version or actually try for this one? :c

I had budgeted for the blue Cinderella but right now don't think I am going to get her. If we get more pictures, I might change my mind. I still want to see what she looks like in the box. I have both the Disney Classic and Mattel version of this doll and wondering do I really want a third doll of the same exact thing? If I do decide to get this one, I might return the other two.

may i ask if you prefer the mattel or classic version?

haha this would be my first limited edition doll if i was to get it. i am not even sure if my store will be getting them, but they got all the previous limited edition releases so i am hoping that they will get this one too.

i love the face sculpt on the mattel version as well as the skirt of the dress. it's so shimmery and interesting.

I had budgeted for all of them, even the wedding doll. A friend told me about all the releases a couple months back, so I sold a lot of old beloved toys and saved up... and then I saw the dolls. So, as someone who can "afford" them, they're still not worth it. It's not even a question of coming up with the money. It's a question of worth / value.

LOL, I'm mostly mad at myself because a couple weeks ago someone local was selling LE Rapunzel for a reallllllly good price and I had the money put aside for these stupid dolls. I totally could've had the purple dress Rapunzel!!!!!!!!!

I'm trying really hard to like the blue LE Cinderella, because this movie looks so beautiful. But in these pics the doll doesn't

I think the wedding doll will be bought up by the completist collectors amongst us. Will be interesting to see how long she lasts though and given people will be putting funds aside for the Frozen dolls.

I got the mattel cinderella and love it! I personally liked the face sculpt and the dress way better on the Mattel version and a plus for me was that her glass slippers are visible on the corner of a the box since I don't plan on deboxing.

The glass slipper factor is going to be the hardest part about getting LE Cinderella, if I do indeed manage to get her (here's hoping). I hope that she'll have authentic, beautiful-looking glass slippers if one lifts up the skirt just a little to check!

Oh, and I mean Cinderella in the blue dress. Or if you're one of those people, the white and gold dress.

I haven't actually seen the Mattel version in person yet! My mom picked her up for me (she's in another state) because I couldn't find the doll around here and is holding her for me. I can say that I liked the Disney version better in person, but right now I can't tell you which of the two I like the best.

I'll be seeing the movie this Tuesday -- so I'll probably decide on the blue LE Cinderella after I see how much I like (or possibly don't like) the film.

Congratulations!!! I understand that for the special occasion, a beautiful wedding cinderella would be the perfect wedding gift and memento for that special day. If you don't end up getting her, you can always get the film collection version in the disney store that also includes the prince for a MUCH CHEAPER price. Either way it would be nice for your wedding.

I wish Disney gave us a 17 inch Jolie Maleficent LE last year as well as the classic animated one. I know in the fall we already get loads of dolls but I kind of wish Disney released a random villain each Halloween.

I still can't decide which doll I want to try for. Going to get two of them, thinking for deffo try to get blue Cinderella and then can't decide between Anna & Elsa. I want Anna because eventually I'm going to get SQ Elsa so Anna would look nice with her. But then Elsa is my favourite character, but if I'm aiming for Sq Elsa do I need this one? And I hate that her hairs gold. I'm actually most excited for Cinderella.
