Location
9 minutes from DLR!!!!
So I am curious....

Some locations have nicer designs that others. Have you noticed?
In general:

  • the designs are more attractive coming from DLRP.
  • The characters are more "anime" style coming from HKDL
  • DSUK seems to get more of the less common characters or movies featured.
  • DS.com while usually fairly generic, got those Designer sets, and used to get sooo many great LE
  • DSF is usually well detailed, even if the characters are typical and in typical poses.

The US gets more pins, but they seem more generic to me. We do however have access to DSF, Ds.com, Jerry Liegh, and 2 park locations.

How do you feel about pins from other places? Do you value DLRP higher simply because its DLRP? Or do you base your personal value off each individual pin? I am not talking monetary value, I am talking personal trade or collection value, the "oh thats is pretty" value.

Wish there was an option for multiple answers.

Considering the number of Disney Auction pins in my wants and in my collection, (still the epitome of pin design, IMO), I would have to say the U.S., especially after figuring in some of the WDI stuff. Other U.S. sources (parks, D.S., D.S.F.) tend to be hit and miss, at least for what I collect. I sometimes feel that the whole hobby is riding on the glory of older pins, but the sheer volume of U.S. releases over time can't help but tip the scale in their favor.

But for current popular characters, (Rapunzel, Brave, etc.) Paris always seems to get better designs than us. And how can anyone compete with those awesome Pin Trading Night pins?

For me, pin design is everything. Sloppy artwork or implementation is an absolute deal-breaker, no matter how rare the pin or where it comes from.

For me, pins from Japan & Tokyo Disney are the cutest/prettiest especially for their holiday pins. It was actually their Valentine's Day pin that got me into pin trading in the first place. I saw it on a site and thought it was the cutest thing ever and got me into researching for Disney pins. I feel that there's no other Disneyland that makes pins as cute as these.

It's hard to say because I've seen pins I like and dislike from pretty much all of the choices. For example DSF and DS.com(a while back) have had some great pins and some really bad ones, too.

I cant really decide but it would be a combination of Paris, DS.com, DSF and DA pins since thats where the majority of my pins have come from or should I say released from XD
