I initially was only going to collect villains because they've always been my first love. But I've branched out into many different characters because I liked the look of the collectible. I still mainly collect villains but I also have a lot of different characters as well. I need better self control :3

What about you guys and gals? Did you originally start collecting with a sole focus on a certain character/characters/movie but then just start getting random collectibles? Or do you have self control and have just stuck with your initial collection?

Lion King has been my main collection since 1994, and my boyfriend got a bit "mad" (lol) that lately only big items would come in, haha.
(like huge plushies, collectible things that need to be displayed someday)

And he said: why not focus on small things ...
I already had a few pins, but then I started to focus on the rest of the pins that I liked, and ended up here, hehe.

Thanks to this lovely place, full of monthly pin-updates, I can't help but look at the new releases, and I started a few side-collections, hehe.
Like the DLRP Dreams series, Lotso, Olaf, kitties, Buttercup, you know, a cute character here and there.

I wish I could stay away from release posters, so I wouldn't see all the new things coming out, haha!

First I was just going to get the animators' collection Dolls, but that expanded. So now I focus on princess dolls. I only collect dolls and only of the princesses (except that I did buy the DAC tinkerbell doll). Which makes it easier so I don't have to try and get the villain dolls or the new faries XD

I've been collecting Figment since I started, and I'm still collecting him now During that time I've branched out into several small side collections, but none more than 20 pins or so. I stay away from the newer, popular stuff; it's too much stress IMHO!

Sometimes I wonder what would happen if I ever "complete" my Figment collection. I'd have no idea what to do next!!!

I started with Alice items (not the LE 17" doll yet, and good luck with ever!), and I've mostly stuck to that. But I've branched out into the Frozen girls because I love the movie so much. Otherwise, though, I just can't let myself pick up every single thing I find pretty or cute or what have you, because I don't have the space or the budget. During the Art of Ariel release, for example, I had to walk through TDS chanting, "I don't collect Little Mermaid" because many of the items were soooooo nice. When I weakened, I would text my BFF and he would write back (or call, if I sounded REALLY desperate), and say "YOU DON'T COLLECT LITTLE MERMAID!"

I collect certain lines. It started with the Toy Story Collection, then the DAC line came out and I had to have it all, then the Villains Designers came out, deflowering me with that line, then the 17" LE Lady Tremaine came out, making me want a few dolls of that line.

But that is IT! I refuse to collect any other lines aside from DAC, Designers, Toy Story, and 17" Heirlooms. Oh and the Movie Moments Mugs. I hope they release another series this year!

I only buy what I like, regardless if it means I won't have a full set etc I only want things that I love to look at lol.
I have recently got into the heirloom collection and due to size and price I really limit them to favourite characters or ones I love.
Im generally attracted to merchandise with Aurora, Maleficent, Cinderella, Ariel/Ursula,Tangled,Elsa and I also love Marie & Tinkerebell.

I've been collecting the Disney infinity stuff and I must admit with that because it takes up less room, I have become a completist.

My main collections are Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the caribbean but I have a little bit of everything. If I think it's cool, I collect it.

I collect NBC and mystery pins...usually

I also collect pins with Spanish on them or costumed as a Spaniard or Mexican (think Flamenco and 3 caballeros)

When I am at Disneyland, I pick random pins that I enjoy, these pins usually become traders on my next trip.

Not too long ago I decided my main collection would be Tangled and Stitch dressed as other characters. Frozen joined that little group too. Other than that, I do collect what I like. But I restrict myself to things I REALLY like, things I can frame and be proud of. Like the designer pins, or the seasons princesses. I used to collect all sorts of stuff but it killed my wallet and something had to be done lol.

Good question! I'm struggling with this at the moment since I've just started collecting and I'm trying to decide where I want to go with this. Especially since I'm coming in so late in the game, I don't think it is feasible for me to get all the ones I missed -- I don't think I will have a "complete" collection of either the LE"17 or designer dolls. I also don't have the room for everything either!

So, I guess I'm going to collect only what I like --- and by that, I mean like the look of. I have certain favorite characters but that doesn't mean I necessarily like the doll.

For instance, I am a big Belle fan but I just don't care for the LE"17 doll. However, I do like Belle in both the designer collections. Love Snow White but not so much in the designer collections and don't think it's likely I will ever get the LE"17 doll unless by some miracle. I'm all for the Lady Tremaine 17" doll but not the Cinderella 17" although I like the character. And I said I would not focus on the designer size dolls but I do plan on getting Tinkerbell. I think she's a pretty doll even though I am a bit freaked out by her toothpick legs. I have all the Small World dolls and if they release more of those I'll continue with that line, but I won't get the other animator dolls.

I have a few pins but I'm not really "collecting" them. Not collecting vinylmations either but I did get the Lilo and Stitch Hawaii set because I like the characters.

So all in all, I think I am going to end up with a rather eclectic collection!

I just collect characters/movie related items I love. Such as Belle, BatB, Gaston, Aurora, Maleficent, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Ursula, TLM, Tink, Terence, WIR, Vanellope and a few odds and ends I guess.

When Im at the park I just buy pins, etc if I see something that I like or catches my eye. My vinyl collection is so mis matched because I just get the ones that I look, and dont really have any complete sets. And I collect stuff relating to my favorite rides/parts of the parks. So a lot of stuff from France/Germany at Epcot, or Haunted Mansion at MK.

My main is anything Elsa. But I have some Anna too. I have the Jim Shore figure pre ordered and both march dolls on order. I loveeeee the SG Anna, she looks so cute and sweet in her little outfit.

When I started collecting pins I collected every pin I liked but I then I started to choose a theme and started to collect pins with Walt himself and Sorcerer Mickey, I got sick and wanted to make a new and fresh start also for my pins and started on Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid. Due to financial reasons I had to sell my whole Little Mermaid collection and a part of my Beauty and the Beast collection but everything turned out better and started pin trading again last year for Tangled and Frozen. So now my main collections are Tangled and Frozen and my side collections are BatB and LM

I spent most of my life collecting mainly villains. Occasionally I would get Ariel, Aurora, and Snow White things but mostly to go along with the villains. But then Tangled changed everything for me haha. And now I collect anything Princess and Villain. Of course Rapunzel being the larger part of where my money goes. Lately I've been focused on getting LE Designer/ 17" dolls since I missed out on most of them.

Personally, I collect what I like, but I am EXTREMELY particular about the appearance of the characters. Maleficent is and always will be my #1 collection. From dolls to pins to art, I've got it! She is also a character that I find different facial expressions not as attractive as others, so I don't purchase them. Haunted Mansion is next in line, so much so that I had a Haunted Mansion themed wedding. I have pins, the wall sconces, lamp, etc. Sometimes I see random pins that don't belong anywhere near my collections and just HAVE to have them. I have a few Briar Rose pins, which theoretically match up well with Maleficent but I'm sooooooooo not a princess fan. Nightmare Before Christmas is another collection I have going, but again, some faces of Jack and Sally are just not right. Good times indeed.

I am more of a pick-and-chooser than a collector. I don't want too much stuff, only a few key pieces that I love.

For me, it is primarily about villains, as I have always loved the villains the most. Especially Maleficent and Scar (I even have a scar mug, I adore him!)

I have designer Malficent, Evil Queen and Cruella.
I have the kaa-shere khan snow globe, dragon-villains big limited edition snowglobe and am currently waiting for the arrival of my newest two additions- the dragon breathing fire over prince philip snowglobe (my abslute fave disney piece, so glad I finally managed to order it) plus a WDCC Scar piece. Hoping both arrive safely.

The other 2 pieces I really want are a specific Mary Poppins snowglobe and another villains one Trying not to go overboard though, I think I admire the items more when it is a select few! Nice decoration.

If they brought out a designer Elsa snow queen or jessica rabbit, I might find it hard to resist those though xD

I only collect merch that has to do with my favorite characters and their movies. Right now that's Frozen, The Little Mermaid, Alice in Wonderland, and Disney Fairies. I do have classic dolls and singing dolls of other princesses I like though and some miscellaneous plush.

I do collect all of the animator dolls and I'm also collecting all of the 17'' princesses though.

I only collect blu-rays and 17" LE dolls - though not all of them, mostly just select princesses and their villain (and Prince if available). However, I have chosen not to buy Rapunzel (either of them) because her face mold bugs me, and not Elsa (either) or coronation Anna because even though they are lovely I just didn't want them. So I think I'm a pick-and-choose collector for the dolls, and I prefer the classic Disney films to the newer ones for dolls (nostalgia is, I think, my main push behind collecting). I wish I would collect more than just the LE dolls but I'd have nowhere to keep everything! Lol

Up until a few months ago I collected mainly NBC and TLM merch since they're my two favorite Disney movies (hence my username). Now I've also added Frozen into the mix. I collect items of other characters/movies I like as well, but just not as much as the other three. I also love Atlantis and Kida is one of my favorite Disney characters, but there is so little out there (and a lot of what there is isn't particularly great) that trying to have an Atlantis collection is difficult. I'm still hoping that will change one day, particularly in the form of a 17" LE Kida doll. I am very selective when it comes to adding a piece to my collection. I'm like Maleficent913. If anything is off about something (particularly the face), I won't buy it.

I have been collecting The Little Mermaid since its release and it is my main collection, but I collect Dolls, Snowglobes, plushes, pins anything Disney really from any character movie that catches my eye. I have multiple favorites, but my adorable Ariel will always be #1 ♥

As far as merchandise goes, Lion King (all characters) is and always will be my main collection. I've been collecting properly for a few years now and I'm running out of space! I have a side collection of Frozen too. Where pins are concerned, over half my collection is also Lion King but I also collect others that I like. Such as tangled, this is my newest venture and I'm mostly after pascals (because I have a real one)

I collect a whole bunch of different things. When I started out I was going to collect Alice in Wonderland haha but then I changed that quite quickly to collecting Brave. So now I collect:

Brave
Figaro
Black and White Mickey
Oswald
Monsters University
Johnny Depp
Characters in Sorcerer Hats

It's so hard to choose just one!!!!

-Charlie

Just curious but... how come only "Monsters University"? and not Monsters Inc. as well? XD

we collect a lot of the same things!

I (well, my husband and I) collect...
Enchanted
Black & White Mickey
Oswald
Monsters University (only MU because it was our daughter's first movie in a theatre)
WDI Mystery Hats
Dumbo
Peter & the Wolf
Frozen, sort of

I wanted to collect Enchanted from the beginning, but someone told me it was "too hard" for a newbie, so I started collecting Jasmine. I realized that most of the Jasmine pins I was trying to get were only because they were Jasmine and not cause I loved them, so I decided to put Jasmine on hold (ended up trading away all of the ones that I dont love) and try Aurora and Rapunzel... still didnt feel right. I decided to go with what I truly wanted, Giselle, and even though the pins are harder to get and its slow going, I am much happier!
