Do you wear your favorite and/or high value pins to the park?
I wear themed Jessica pins during each holiday or at pin events like Reflections of Evil. I don't use locking backs, but do like Mark Heard and push a new hole into a standard mickey rubber back. Have never lost a pin.

I always make up a Christmas lanyard to wear at WDW around the holidays. My Christmas pins are my largest collection and I love to show them off. I get a lot of kids that think I'm a CM and want to trade though, and I hate to have to tell them no. I'm thinking of wearing my "Private pin collection not for trade" pin this year with it, but it just doesn't look right on the lanyard with all my Christmas pins.
I've been wearing my Christmas pins for a lot of years and have never lost or damaged one.

Interesting points of view everyone! Thank you for sharing!

I have yet to full on wear a lanyard at Disneyland (I only really started my collection after my last trip in 2012) but I'm not really super worried about my pins. Last time I was actually wearing them on my shoulder bag, which is even less secure than a lanyard. Maybe it's just because I don't have very valuable pins, but I follow the line that they were meant to be worn and shown off. People must know my interests! I want to be part of the club!

We've actually created a few "Themed" lanyards made up of our traders (mostly). We'll actually buy extras of our favorite pins just for this purpose.

I wear my pins to show them off. That is part of the fun. I do use locking backs but sometimes they even fall off so there is always a risk of losing pins.

I am hoping to have at least a couple themed lanyards in the future... I might try wearing them at DLRP... really need some locking pin backs though.

That is very cool!!!

Thanks for the input everyone. (And thanks for the info on the locking pin backs, I had no idea!)

I think on our next trip I will wear mine (at least some of them) on nights when we'll just be walking around, not doing so much of the rides. I did wear mine last time I was there although I have more higher value ones at this point. I did not lose any but I was CONSTANTLY checking the pin backs (not locking). I think with the locking backs and being careful I should be ok! Of course, we will see how I feel when it comes time to actually put them on my lanyard.

I really love it when people wear pins on their lanyards, since most of the pins I have never seen in person but for me no I am to paranoid so they stay safe at home in my book and I only show them off when my friends come over.

I remember I saw this one guy with like 4 or 5 thick lanyards filled with massive pins. He was a big guy, but I was thinking, that has GOT to be heavy as heck!!! It was very cool, though!

It is fun to wear pins and display them, but super sad if they fall off. My sister lost her favorite pin, Rafiki holding baby Simba. If you do wear them, use the plunger pins.

On our last trip I wore my Yen Sid themed lanyard. I have worn some holiday themed lanyards. Usually I will stay away from putting on any pins that will cost more than $40 to replace. With locking backs though I haven't had a reason to worry, plus I think it is fun to show off part of the collection.

I bring several lanyards to the parks (mine are Amy's big fat lanyards) with nothing but high end pins on them, or in some cases my whole collection of a certain character or theme. Yes I would cry if I lost some. I use locking backs and hope for the best. I check throughout the day that the backs are secure. A lot of my pins are jumbo/oversized so I hate to say I would notice if they fell off! I used to never wear my pins and decided that they are pins and I should enjoy them as such, and allow others to enjoy them too! :3

I'm just too scared of loss or damage. We go to DLR specifically to walk around and ride attractions, and to pin trade with cast members because we just love talking to people (some of our favorite park experiences have been the CMs we met while trading!). So if I were going to wear a "peacock lanyard" (I love that term too!) I'd have to wear *two* lanyards, and my neck would complain!

I've occasionally worn a single pin on a lapel to work. I tried doing the same thing on a coat, but after the pin fell off three times I stopped risking that.

I have a beautiful lanyard that Amy made me and I currently have my DA Carousel Princess set on it. I would never wear it around the park but I have worn it to one of Josh's events and one PTN. I didn't move around too much but I wasn't too worried because I use locking pin backs.

This is what mine look like:

I always wear my valuable/favorite pins to the park. No locking backs either. I think as long as your careful and comfortable with the risks, you needn't worry. Some pins on my lanyard include my jumbo DSF ariel, ariel marquee, kiss the girl pin, brave and mulan marquee, and my tangled BT. I usually just check throughout the day to make sure my backings are nice and tight.

Yup. Rock em' if you got em'. I spent too much money to hide them in my closet. Rubber mickey backs and all. Just gotta keep an eye on them at all times

I want to see a pic of your collection on the lanyard! NO fair. Post it on my lanyard thread if you are ever bored

I sometimes wear valuable pins on my lanyard. I don't have the locking backs on mine but, I am planning on buying some from Bryana here on DPF. I am also looking for someone to make me a custom lanyard which I think the pins look really nice on especially if you have a theme going on. If you do not feel comfortable wearing them to the parks then you can always wear your high end pins to pin events or just at the tables when trading. As for myself I like to wear them. There almost like badges of honor.

I have a custom lanyard thread. Been selling here for 3 years . PM me if you'd like the direct link or just search "bigfatlanyards" in search box. Let me know if you need anything

Love the idea of wearing your favorite pins out! I'm not too fond of keeping them hidden, I say enjoy them!
I'm going to try it on my next trip to DLR

yes i always have on on lol

i always have on my most expensive pins, its like a badge of my hard work

We wear a few of our nice pins with locking backs. We always keep space for a few traders for kids. Although most the time we just give them a pin, so we don't get scrappers, this unexpected giving makes the kids really happy.
