DSF NON Scrapper alert!

I know one of the big indicators for traders on counterfeits are the "Borders" of the mickey back stamp, but I just wanted to tell everyone the findings I have found about the new DSF pins!

THEY HAVE BORDERS! I just purchased myself the following pins STRAIGHT from DSF:

Pin 82435: DSF - Pun Pin - Chip and Dale Cookies
Pin 82434: DSF - Pun Pin - Stitch
Pin 82433: DSF - Retro Surf - Chip and Dale
Pin 82432: DSF - Retro Surf - Goofy
Pin 82431: DSF - Retro Surf - Mickey Mouse
Pin 82430: DSF - Retro Surf - Stitch
Pin 82429: DSF - Retro Surf - Jessica Rabbit


I just wanted to give a heads up that if the NEW DSF pins have borders they are real.

It seems Disney is getting cheaper and cheaper when making their pins.

Whattttt, Now is harder to tell, god, Disney is disappointing me...

Well ain't that a B. I picked up a bunch of these last weekend and can verify that this is completely true (I naturally never even opened any of my pins, save to remove the pin-backs so I could stick them into pages). We'll have to draw this to Patty's attention.

DSF are not consistent with the backs of their pins either, some pins will have a border and others will not. I went through all my DSF pins a while back and photographed backs of pins etc. I did mention this in another thread in relation to the pamplet that someone produced, because the pamplet talked about a border being the sign of a scrapper on all pins. I would not want to see people yelling scrapper/counterfeit at all the DSF pins!

Wow, is it me or is Disney getting sloppier and sloppier?

To their credit, this may actually be an effort to fix some of the sloppiness, since it's been mentioned that the recent DSF Mickey Waffle Surprise pin was produced in a different factory than the other pins that accompanied that release (the Surprise pin had QA issues, while the rest of the release didn't). So they could be trying a variety of production locations / companies. OR, who knows, maybe that one pin was cheaper to produce at a different factory.

It's kind of poor, because when I was buying pins from the Retro Surf / Pun release, I was actually pretty happy to see zero quality problems. Granted, these were simple pins with no glitter / jewel elements, but still, there were no paint dips or anything that have been problematic in other recent DSF releases. Of course, I didn't flip my pins OVER. *facepalm*

I'm heading in Saturday, so if Patty's around I'll politely broach the topic. If other people could too, just so we don't look like a vocal minority of 2-3 people, that might help.

When I look at the back of the Stitch pin (Pin 82434: DSF - Pun Pin - Stitch) it does appear that the pattern on the back does not go all the way to the edge. I think this is different from some scrapped pins that you see from WDW and DLR that instead of the pattern going all the way to the edge, there is a border about 1/8 inch thick that is evident and also the same height as the pattern. With these pins, that area is flat and the pattern is raised above it which is different from what you see with the WDW/DLR pins.
