This is not to "talk" about the rush to buy because of what is just released, drama in line, hype from out of state members, what should come next, what DSF should do about "US" and the PTD or just the why the popularity of PTD's in general. Other threads chat about that stuff.

Not a Want/Trade Thread. Not a sales Thread. There are others for that also.

I compiled this list as when trading recently, many ask "what year was that one", "when did that come out", "that was issued on a DSF generic card?", "PTD ran out and that one was released as a replacement?" and "that's a PTD? There is no ice cream"

When replying, please reply with quotes to discuss that year/pin(s). The Thumbnail should link you to the Pinpics information about that pin (as long as the pin is in the "reply with quotes").

Disney's Soda Fountain & Studio Store
DSF Pin Trader's Delight pins PTD
Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop
GSF Pin Trader's Sundae PTS [currently called PTD again].

With the popularity of UP - This pin started the speculation of collecting PTD's.
On Card (Substitute pin).
On card (Substitute pin).
With the Popularity of Tangled - This pin brought more people into the PTD light and a window of a Rapunzel to be released eventually.

8th Year 1/5/2013 - 3/19/2013 (19 pins)

8th Year - 1st Wave
With the Popularity of Tangled/Rapunzel - This pin brought PTD to the front door of owning/trading/selling PTD's of many of todays collectors. She was released at night closing and many collectors slept over until opening to obtain her.
With the Popularity of UP - This pin was previewed at WDW and the rush to "get her out" for sale made what today is normal for a "new" release of PTD's and was the cause of DSF to run out of PTD's and think up new rules for distribution. Kevin marked the last PTD for sale before DSF ran out of PTD's. DSF never expected this and did not have an order to receive and collectors waited approximately 2 months until DSF received their new shipment.

8th Year 5/7/2013 - 6/16/2013 (29 pins)

8th Year - 2nd Wave
Kind Candy marked the last of 2 per person. DSF currently allows 1 per person per day per design.
Flynn marked the release of the 3 day (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) release of constant collectors that stayed all day at DSF alley from open to close awaiting the next release.
At the end of this 6 pin release, DSF ran out of PTD's. Collectors had to wait approximately 1 month until DSF new shipment.

8th Year 7/14/2013 - 9/28/2013 (26 pins)

8th Year - 3rd Wave
This was the last pin released by DSF as the name and business will no longer exist.

8th Year - Wave 1a

Disney Soda Fountain and Studio Store is no longer in existence. The Merchandise part of the store is now called "Disney Studio Store Hollywood". The current PTS's still have the DSF logo in back of the pins. Once the DSF PTD pin run is fully released, the new logo on the back of the pin will have the same backing of the
?

New released pins will be called Pin Trader's Sundae PTS.

Limit of 1 style per person per day is still in effect.

GSF - PTS (current listings in Pinpincs under Disney Soda Fountain Hollywood).

2014 Pin Traders Sundae

9th Year 1/1/2014-2015 (68 Pins)

9th Year
GSF changed the name of the GWP pin back to Pin Traders Delight PTD's)
WIR was finally released, LE 500, many were able to rush to GSF and to the reaction of the line. DSSH moved the line to differ from the Maleficent Movie line. The line was moved to the alley. Once in the alley, a numbered ticket was distributed. At a certain point, the numerical order was not kept with the line and tickets. Many were able to walk into the store and or cut with friends.
Queen of Hearts, Remy LE 500 (This PTD was purposely released so another WIR situation would not happen. DSSH made it a point to have any PTD customers come in, buy and leave the area. You were not allowed to hang around inside the store or linger around for a "flip" line. DSSH does not want a problem with the El Capitan General Admission line. This was an unofficial asking from DSSH.

Okay, so this is the thread where I say that I recently bought 4 of
for non-pin trading related reasons. A friend of the family recently passed away, and he was a Jessica collector, casual pin trader, who loved ice cream, especially strawberry. So I bought one for each of our little group that would trade around WDW and follow it up with a Kitchen Sink at Beaches & Cream, as a remembrance of our friend. Of course, after I did that a couple sellers raised their price $10 on their BINs. And I think I must have scared someone, because then one of those higher priced ones sold. I just wanted to say that other than now there are 4 taken out of the "availability" category, it shouldn't signify new widespread interest for this particular pin. Under normal circumstances, I would have just bided my time looking for deals, but I wanted everyone to be able to open their pins at the same time next week, so I paid the BINs even though I really didn't want to.

I'm still waiting for the 4th pin, but 1 of the 3 had some significant dips on her left cheek and hair. The packaging, number, colors looked the same on all 3 though. All came in a plastic bag, sealed with tape on one side (I mention this, because I think one of the older ones I have might have been machine sealed on both edges but maybe not, and I think another one came in a ziploc with the number printed on the bag?), number printed on the pin, ice cream cones on silver.

Deja Vu with the marquee thread. Everyone added their thoughts on values and then profiteers added another 20% on top of those numbers.
Your missing a few of the substitutes if you really want to count them all.

I like this thread.

Take the "PTD" out of the title, and these are just a bunch of really cute le300 *or 500 in some cases* single character pins. As single pins they trade well to the collectors of those specific movies/themes/characters. Some are excellent, well made, very good quality, and some are kind of sad really. lol

I try to look at each one as a stand alone pin. But now folks are becoming "PTD collectors".... I think its going to be a never ending series, and personally wouldnt collect the set, only collect the ones I like for my specific needs. So far, i have the ones that match my collections.

As a Maleficent/Sleeping Beauty/Pooh & Friends collector, those are the only ones I bought or traded for. Now that I've made the decision to down size my collection, I decided that it wasn't very realistic to have some of those characters eat ice cream so I traded them away last year- before it got crazy-and I didn't really get much in the way of high end or LE trades. A few months ago when I saw that everyone was going nuts for them, I put the rest of my Pooh & Friends ones up for trade and got some very nice high end LE pins.

I just traded for Jock which I wanted because he reminds me of my dog. :0) And I like and want Gus because he's cute. Other than that, I only want them as traders to get stuff I want for my collection. It will be interesting to see how long the interest for these lasts and if they retain their current value.

I am NOT a fan of the Lumiere PTD. I do not like how all of a sudden the added a background. It doesn't look right with the rest of the Beauty and the Beast PTD's, much less with ALL of them together.

Please go back to how they were without a background.

It was noted from a DSF Cast Member that LE 500 may be only for future popular characters and LE 300 for "non" popular ones? I assume that DISNEY will determine who is popular? I guess since Russell is currently popular at DSF, they will release one of him again soon? Talking to ED, he wanted feedback on the raised LE and overheard Cast Members saying that Theresa from home said "really 500?" The edition size may be from a Higher source? Seeing how long it takes when the PTD"s ran out. This order was sent in when Theresa was still working at DSF prior to maternity leave so the order was sent in but the other end determine the final design and LE size?

I'm just tired of them repeating characters. I'm pretty sure there are hundreds of characters who do not get have a PTD pin made of them.

If you're gonna do 500's do them all and make it 2 per person again. 1 trip to DSF plus the 1 PTD is $27 for me. Most of these I can get on eBay for $25 and it save me 2 hours. If it was 2 per person then each would cost me $20 and then I have one for trade and its worth my whole over eBay. 1 per person kinda stinks and really benefits families or close locals. It's making it hard to get trader PTD's for the ones you inevitably miss.
