What time would one need to line up to have a chance to get the pins? I have never been to a DSF release and I live in Northern California but I'd love to get my hands on the Wall-E pin without spending extra on ebay and I will be down in that area from Thursday-Saturday anyways to go to DLR...

Dude, that's so long from now. We still have Monsters University to go through before this one!
Maybe wait till DSF releases information on the event?

Because this is a big release, and with more pins I'm going to say you'll have to wait until DSF posts something because if they say you can't line up until a certain time you might want to go early anyways, park and loiter in the mall across the way until you see other people lining up. Or if they say they're donig wristbands you might have to go down a day early or worse.

It's reallllly up in the air unfortunately.

My plan is to go down about 2-3 PM the day before and actually visit the area with my friends until dinner, since we've never actually spent the day in Hollywood. We're not really going to line up until other people line up though but after 8-9 PM we'll probably stay close to the area. But our plans will defiantly change when the random rules get set by DSF.

DSF has been changing their rules on releases so much lately. The best thing to do is to wait and see how DSF would like to handle that release and then go from there. They will probably post something on facebook the Mon or Tues before the release to let everyone know how things will go. Everyone here usually plays it by ear.

More likely they will post it Thursday Night....I predict it will be 2 per person with 300 wristbands to be handed out at 9pm for the lottery at 830am to buy pins...unofficial line usually starts at about noon....bring your pins and a chair

They will post rules for the June 29 release later this week.

Chances are it will be "everyone gets to draw a number" again.... Rumor is 1 set per person, but i will believe it when i see it... This is a le400 release.

I overreacted when I saw the thread title lol, sitting on the subway I saw "DSF Release" and I assumed July pins and I let a little gasp. Safe to say I'm glad that isn't all to uncommon in NYC because only 5 people looked at me like "what is he looking at on his phone?" and gave me this sassy face:

I would wait till DSF posts the rules. I went to the last 2 releases and they did random wrist bands and random vouchers. For both releases. For the circus poster release they handed out wrist bands the night before on Friday about 8 or 9 so I got there about 6pm to get my wrist band. At this release you had your chance to stay and camp out or go home and come back at about 6 am the next morning to line up for the random voucher. I decided to camp out this time because I live kind of far and would be such a hassle to drive back and forward.

The last release for monsters u they did everything in the morning. At about 7 or 8 they handed out wristbands and soon after they were done with the wristbands, they gave us our vouchers so we could line up in the order of the voucher. At this release I got there about 4:30 am which was a total waste of time Because, they picked a spot and started handing out wrist bands. Then for handing out the vouchers they went to the back of the line and started there. So, it really does not matter about getting there early.

My opinion if do this method for the Fourth of July pins I would just come an hour or 30 minutes before because I seen people come 30 minutes before everything started and get a better number in line then I did and I waited 4hrs. It's really random now. Everyone has the "chance" to get the pins. But, remember with these new rules in effect no one is guaranteed nothing.

Darn! The pins don't start being sold until 10:30. This effectively makes it nearly impossible for me to go to this release :( Oh well, I'll be 1 hour away from all this craziness so hopefully I won't have to hear all the screams and sirens haha

No more hooking like Captain Hook that's for sure. I rather not spend the night at dsf after the stabbing incident non dsf related but closeby. These releases are becoming less sexy

so, in answer to the original question of when you should come, the answer is: be there a bit before 8. that'll give you an equal chance at getting the pins ^^

Not related to the rules, but the pins being sold. Does anyone think the Ray pin will be that popular? Will the fact there is a cute Pascal pin in this release drive up the price?

At first, yes. Like with the BT release that included Enchanted, when the BTs first came out, people were charging exorbitant prices for all 4. Pricetags that were close to $100 for all of them (well, closer to $200 for Enchanted). Nowadays the prices are very different with Bolt being as low as $55 (no where near $100). I think that PatF is very popular, but Ray as a character isn't as popular as Tiana, Dr. Facilier, or Naveen so I think if you wait a few weeks the price for Ray will settle :)

I'm in a perplexing situation. Since this release is lottery style, I have no problem getting there early to get a wristband to get a voucher. What makes things tricky is that I have to be in Redondo Beach by 11:30am for work. Since the actual pin sale starts at 10:30, my only chance is if I'm within the first 10 people in line. Hypothetically speaking, if IF I get a number between 1 and 200 then would it be unfair if I asked to stand in line with someone who has, say, number 3? Since numbers 1 to 200 are all guaranteed at least two full sets right?

If I'm missing something please let me know cuz I'd hate to have to wait, get a decent number, then have to leave because of work and not get any pins.

Thanks.

I believe there is a rule about groups who are buying together (which is what you would be doing if you stood with number 3) have to go with the highest voucher. That is, if you pulled #199, #3 could stand with you in the 199th spot but you wouldn't be able to stand in the 3rd spot. They might be more accommodating but I doubt it as this would open it up to a lot of people complaining (not specifically about you, just them not following their own guidelines in general)
