Ebay removed my negative feedback for pin seller !!!!!!

So, you may have seen my recent post about a pin I bought on Ebay, I have lost $50 and dont have a pin to show for it. Well a few days on I decide to leave polite negative feedback, stating exacting what had happened .... and I am rather shocked and dismayed to find that Ebay didnt even allow the feedback to be posted. I got an email stating that it had been removed under Ebay seller protection !!!! SO what about buyer protection ??? I am the innocent party in all this, and cant say here what I really think ! Rant of the day!
 
Did eBay try to contact you to see if they can resolve the negative feedback?

I have notice that people will put 5 stars as a rating but then write negative comments so it can be posted for people to see. I am starting to stop using eBay as they are constantly changing the rules to be against the seller.

Piglet - Seems not, I rang Ebay, they are like "Oh Well, we sided with seller, thats the end of it"

Sismelis - How can we even trust the feedback system?

Echan50 - No they did not contact me about the feedback prior to "removing" it, it was obviously pre-decided that if I left negative it would be removed, because it did not even appear on the sellers stats when I posted it. After the event, I wished I had done that, .... people doing that have clearly experienced this sort of thing themselves, I personally have not come across that type of feedback, even though I always check feedback. I know what you mean about changing things, I told Ebay that I held them responsible for my situation, because their returns pages are not clearer in advising that the seller can provide returns labels and that Ebay can send you one if the seller refuses, and within hours they had changed the wording of their page to supply this information.

Tsuki - I did pay by Paypal, but because the seller requested I return by standard air mail, the receipt therefore only shows her address, and NO TRACKING number, my understanding is that Paypal will not pay out on this, which is the same reason Ebay closed the case. The case can be reopened, if I have proof that the seller has received the pin back .... about 25 days left on that .... private investigator please!! haha! Just Joking!

Tiggermickey - Thanks .... I just ended all my listings today out of principal, last straw for me too ...... I was using Ebay to sell my son's unwanted toys, so he had some spending money for other toys, and I was selling unwanted clothes and household items so I had some pin money. I had sold a few pins to raise the $50 for this particlar Ebay purchase, hence why I have taken this so hard.


 
For the longest time Ebay protected the buyer by making it impossible for the seller to post negative feedback. I'm surprised by their reaction, without buyers they're out of business.
 
I always put neutral feedback when voicing my complaints because the seller will most likely get negative feedback taken down.

I never agreed with that, but on the whole, it didnt affect me that much, and on the one occasion I would have loved to have left other than positive feedback, it did not strike my conscience as too much of an injustice, I just declined to leave any feedback.

Unfortunately, the seller rang Ebay and got the case closed, Ebay won't tell me what the grounds were, so it all seems one sided, I havent been able to raise a response, they just say "well you dont have a tracking number." I worked with the seller and came to an agreement over the return, which Ebay tell you to do, so whilst surprised, I realise I have been unwittingly duped by the Ebay system, so they have certainly lost my trust.
 
I am aware of your experience as you shared it with me. It is hard to believe that eBay does not give each party a rebuttal. There decision is final.

I just had a transaction where I was charged $2.62 for shipping, which is fine, and the postman knocked on my door wanting $1.15 postage due. I contacted the seller who said it was the postal departments fault for not charging her enough(she only paid $1.15). It came in a white envelope which I have still not opened. I asked politely if she was going to reimburse me the $1.15 and she said she had to contact the USPS. I waited a week and asked again. She never got back to me. I then opened a case through PayPal to get just the $1.15 back. They don't really have a "code" to use for a case like this. They "investigated" and closed the case the same day after getting an answer from the seller, which was false. I contacted them and they said the listing was accurate and they don't care about shipping. I tried to contact eBay and could not because PayPal had already "investigated".

I know $1.15 is not much but it was the principal. Has anyone else had a case like this and what can you do if PayPal does not protect you over postage due. I should say, that my daughter answered and payed, not knowing anything about this as I was at work.

The seller that left me "positive" feedback with a negative comment about how I threatened her. I certainly would never threaten anyone. I only stated that I would open a case if she did not get back to me with a solution.

I know you are are the victim here and eBay was definitely in the wrong in your case. Sorry if I hijacked your post. Us Pinocchio lovers have to stick together.

Well, it depends on the severity of the situation, I suppose. I find my experiences on Ebay have been generally positive or negative never in between ...... The few people I spoke to, felt that negative feedback was appropriate, and in all conscience I could not bring myself to leave any more than negative feedback, because I have lost a lot of money.

With Ebay flogging the Seller Protection/Buyer Protection, they certainly didn't want my feedback on display, because it calls it into question, any who .... only one person can win a dispute, the way Ebay have settled my case is by saying that I didn't follow every letter of the buyer protection rules. Its like insurance, they dissect the situation piece by piece until they find something they can use against you!
 

I agree with you over the principal of the postage, but of course we have to decide how much time and effort is worth chasing it. Unfortunately, some people can be over sensitive, and see a threat, where it is not, it can be frustrating trying to deal with someone like that. Its nice to hear other people's experiences, so you're welcome! Pinocchio Forever! :lol:
 
I remember hearing in the past that if someone left negative comments on a "positive feedback" that eBay would erase it. You might contact them about that.
 
Send them a letter. Tell them you are sorry to hear they have fallen on hard times. Tell them your friend travels for a living and will stop by and see if they can help them out in a couple of weeks.
